Let’s assume the Suns get the third pick in the 2016 draft. They have a need at the 3 and 4 so obviously Simmons would be ideal, and Ingram would be the next best thing, but the third pick is a up in the air at this point.

Watched Jaylen Brown a half dozen times and he reminds me of Derozan in college. 6’7 elite athlete who’s potential is sky high but will take a few years and hard work to develop some range and handle. Defensively can be great. Would fill the small forward need for Suns youth movement.

Kris Dunn is another option. Knight is young and seems to be in their future but stretches the floor well and would be great along side a tall long true point guard like Dunn. But obviously Booker is the starting 2 guard of the Suns so Dunn would be coming off bench.

Which leads me to my favortie candidate if the Suns choose 3rd…. Jamal Murray. Yes they already have 3 UK guards in Bledsoe , Booker, and Knight, but I don’t think Bledsoe is in their long term plans anymore. And in today’s NBA you can never have enough ball handling and shooting. Bring Murray off bench with Booker and Knight starting.

Suns used to run IT, Bledsoe and Goran at once so I don’t know why this wouldn’t work. Also best player available.

Any other suggestions for Suns at 3?

*Never seen Bender play so I’m going to take him out of the discussion. If anyone wants to shed light on him and how he could potentially fit with the Suns please do.

    I would go with Brown.

I like the Chandler/Len front-court as Len is showing a really nice ability to score and Chandler can do what he does best which is the dirty work, I also think Chandler can be a veteran leader in the starting group.

In the back-court I would love to see Bledsoe/Booker as Bledsoe is a willing passer with an ability to score. I don’t think Knight is quite the play-maker of Bledsoe and would be looking to score more, I really think Bledsoe (if he can stay healthy) is a great player to put next to Booker who already looks like a legit #1 scoring option.

From this I think stabilizing up the 3-spot looks like a good idea, sure Chandler won’t be around for too long but I don’t see a PF worth taking at the #3 pick. I think Brown has nice two-way potential and could be a really nice piece to build with Len and Booker. The other nice thing is Booker is showing an ability to create as well so they can play off each other.

Would it be crazy for them to draft Murray and trade Bledsoe and/or Knight for players at the 3 or 4 positions or future draft picks? I think a Murray and Booker backcourt would be electric and both Bledsoe and Knight have injury problems. It would be a gamble but I think a good one

The Suns have a good mix of young, young vets, and older vets. I think they’ll prefer to trade one or both picks for a player that’ll come right in and perform. If not I think you’re right that both forward spots are the areas to target. If at 3, it’ll come down to Brown or Bender. I haven’t watch much college this year, or of Bender of course, so I can’t honestly say who they should take. But one thing to keep in mind, as they do have talent and cap space coming up, if Bender has real potential, I’ll consider drafting and stashing him. With better coaching, this team is a low seed playoffs team. Adding a couple vets this Summer would help a lot Regardless of who, I think they should move a pg, preferably Knight. I think Thad Young in Brooklyn would be a great get for them as he can step right in at either forward spot. I think Brooklyn will strikeout on free agents again, therefore would be starving to add someone they may view as a borderline star. I can see them wanting to build around Lopez and Knight.

I really think the top 4 are runaway picks: Simmons, Ingram, Brown, and Murray, You take one of them. If they missed the top 4, there are a lot of options. Their weakest position is PF. If they wanted to draft for position (not usually recommended), I still think Skal Labissiere is a good option. I have other guys higher on my list, but I think he’s the best PF in the draft after Simmons. He’s a project and the Suns will need time anyway.

As a Suns fan I hope we get luck in the lottery, if we get one of the top 2 picks then we take Simmons first or if not then Ingram. With 3rd pick I’d consider that Brown would be a legit choice and would fit nicely at SF, he could play around P.J Tucker to start with and be used as an impact player from the bench before maybe assuming the starting role in due course.

I’d also take a serious look at Dragan Bender, I know we have Len playing PF alongside Chandler but Bender would need to be developed and he could play around these two guys giving us great height in the frontcourt. Chandler is a blue chip pro and could help Bender develop. In due course I’d look to trade Chandler to a contender to go with Len and Bender in the frontcourt. Chandler woud be getting towards the last year on his deal then and deserves to finish his career on a successful team.

If we took a backcourter then we’d probably need to move Knight or Bledsoe in due course.

Poetel could be an option have him learn from Chandler for a year or two and keep Len at PF.
