The GoatParticipant…Hezonja and Exum. Yes really!
They should also resign Bellinelli and Ilyasova.
Its a realistic plan if the home run swing at Lebron results in fresh air. I think theyd be very good fits and give the team some versatility.

publius2481ParticipantIf the Sixers cannot sign or trade for an elite player, they should sign players to one year deals so they have cap space for the summer of 2019 (the last time they will likely have major cap space). I would resign JJ to a one year deal, which would likely use most of their cap space (I assume if they cannot sign an elite player, they do not stretch Bayless). I would then use the room exemption to sign another shooter (preferably a stretch 4 that can back up Saric).

TRC1991ParticipantThey need quickness, penetration and guys who can stop guards from getting around them at will (Redick is slow and a bad defender, McConnell is small and unathletic and Simmons is too big to guard point guards)

The GoatParticipantExum can be that guy.. Aussie connection with Simmons, similarly Brett Brown knows his dad Cecil Exum who played in Australia. Hezonja and Saric also have the national connection. These two would be great on the wing.
Could start Simmons, Exum, Hezonja, Saric, Embiid, leaves a very decent second unit of Fultz, Belinelli, Covington, Ilyasova and they still have the #10 pick.

True_JafiParticipantNo way I’m starting Exum with Simmons. He needs more shooters around him. Simmons not kicking it out to someone who shoots 27% from three. Fultz will be fine next year and will move into the starting lineup.
Simmons, Fultz, Covington, Saric and Embid. Bring back Belineli and Ilyasova. if can go target a Wayne Ellington, Seth Curry, KCP or joe Harris

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantGelo Ball would fit in nicely in the Reddick role!!!

negguaryParticipantIf they sorry WE don’t get LeBron, George then we should truly consider:
KCP-fits well with the offense and the window, 25 good Three point shooter, plus defender that can switch onto players and can drive to the basket. Also, has good sizE and creates really unique lineups for Brett.
Rodney hood- good shooter and can put the ball on the floor and get to to the basket.
Solid backup center-insert name
Like one of the above posters said either one year deals or very reasonable deals to preserve money for 2019 or to pay your guys.

cohenbc1ParticipantWould Redick sign a one-year deal? He’s entering his mid-30s and maybe just had his best season. He would probably like a contract to take him up to potential retirement in three or four years.
If so do the Sixers offer it? He seemed like a pretty big part of their offense this year. There aren’t a lot of guys out there who can space the floor like JJ.

HitsterParticipantReddick took a very lucrative one year deal last summer and if Philly want to maintain some cap space then a similar short deal could work for both sides. Logically the shorter the deal the more lucrative it should be.
I could see Reddick being happy to return to Philly, sure he could go onto stronger contenders but for nothing like the money Philly can give him but having a shorter well paid deal gives both sides flexability. It means Reddick can move on if things aren’t right and Philly don’t have a veteran eating up cap space over several years and someone who may go into cruise mode. Knowing he would be an FA again the next summer keeps Reddick on his toes.
I can see Philly wanting to bring him back, a very experienced shooter who helps spread the floor, gives them a good locker room senior guy, he came through John K system at Duke so you know what sort of guy he should be. Plus he’d be very good for someone like Fultz to have around as regards shooting technique.
Although JJ turns 34 this summer, he is playing the best ball of his career and probably has a few years left in the NBA. He can run with Philly or another team for a couple more years where he can get some nice pay days and still have option when he is 36/37 to have a shot or two at getting on a legit contender if Philly don’t happen to be there then which I personally think they will be.
A guy of JJ’s experience, standing and shooting will always attract contenders even if he is in his later 30’s if he can still give them 15mpg from the bench when required.

holefillers1ParticipantPublius2481 is dead right. If the Sixers can’t land George or James they should protect their cap. Signing a guy like KCP to a multi year deal will limit their ability to sign super stars. Colangelo hasn’t proven he can win a trade yet and I don’t want to rely on him trading assets for a potential star player without having the ability to sign a star player as well.

BeastMode716Participant12 games of the season but once the playoffs got tight Brown went to an 8 man rotation – as coaches normally do
But Fultz will grow into the starting Combo guard role & play w/ Simmons next year as the starting back court
I’m assuming this thread is if the Sixers do Not sing any Max Free Agents so if that is the case you have them lnading either Mikal Bridges or Colin Sexton w/ the #10 pick which Really helps their bench
They sign JJ Reddick to another One year deal so they can attack the 2019 Free Agent class – I don’t believe they will need either Belinelli or Ilyasova b/c Reddick will fill that role as Fultz emerges into the starting Unit – They have some nice young talent they are Developing & hoping to emerge on that bench – the Real need is a Back Up Ceneter who can protect the Rim
We’re forgetting what kind of Freak Talent Phila Already has – they were the #1 Ranked Starting 5 in the NBA last year & that’s w/ their point guard & center playing their First year together & Under 100 games Total in the NBA
Fultz is Still only 19 years old & he’s a 6’5” 200+ lbs athletic freak w/ a 6’10” Wing Span & that is being Added to a Starting Unit w/ THREE All NBA Defensive players (Covington, Simmons & Embiid) Saric is a Really good, bruising 6’10” strecth PF who shoots 40% from 3pt range (It’s crazy how little attention Saric gets)
W/ Fultz growing into a starter that makes JJ Reddick into what he really SHould have been last year – 25-30 min a game instant Offense Role player
But even if Phila signs No One we are looking at a potential 60 win team in the Eastern Conference – Embiid & Simmons are potential Super Stars who will emerge, Grow & Dominate in their SECOND season together. This team is a growing BEAST – if they land PG13 or God forbid Lebron they will challenge for the NBA Title
