Philly is sending pick 3 and either the Lakers 2018 pick (if it’s 2-5) OR the Kings 2019 pick unprotected for Markelle Fultz. What does Philly want to see happen regaurding these picks, would they rather give up 2-5 next year or the Kings 2019 pick. Obviously the best case senario for Philly is the Lakers pick is #1 next year and Philly gets the top pick for the third straight season. However, I think they would rather hand over the Lakers pick 2-5 in 2018 than see it fall past 5 and have to give up the Kings unprotected pick in the following draft.

I can’t wait to see the exact terms as I’ve now seen the protections on the Lakers pick explained two different ways. It makes more sense that the Celtics get the pick if it falls 2-5 you just rarely see such specific and limited protections. Either way I’d feel pretty good about this as a 76ers fan. Two first rounders to get the guy the team feels is a key piece and potential superstar.

Jeez, if they get the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft and take Doncic, that’ll be the greatest passing team in NBA history. But you’re right, they’ll most likely convey that pick and keep the 2019 Kings’ pick, which judging from this summer’s AAU circuit, isn’t going to be that great of a draft. Hopefully R.J. Barrett reclassifies.

waiting for the trade bomb myself, I am expecting him to trade the 3rd and the future he aquired from philly as part of a deal for Butler or PG13 , or he will pull out of the philly trade at the last minute & trade the #1 to one of those teams instead of Philly if hit gets him that player without giving up much else besides matching salary dumps,(Zeller etc).

Tatum makes little sense to Boston unless Brown/Bradley are getting moved.

Jackson makes some sense if they part with Bradley, but not if they are trading for PG13 where they would no longer need Crowder or Brown & kept bradley.

The other sleepy possibility is Ainge likes Smith or Ball or Monk in the backourt with I.T. enough to pass on Fultz and get a future asset in a high lottery pick that can be packaged with Crowder,Smart & others for a player of interest before the allstar break next season.

I haven’t thought who might be in 2019 draft yet, Philly have a shot at top with the pick next year but Ingram, Russell, Ball and co could improve so pick becomes less valuable. Also Kings will be further into rebuild in 2019 so we cannot predict where that might fall.

Boston look in good shape to add Ayton or Bamba in 2 to 5 range next year. Doncic would possibly be a more logical fit for Philly than Boston next year too.

The best part of this to me is that the Celtics did this to presumably add a superstar player to their roster now.

Only for them to figure out in 2 or 3 years that this trade helped them assemble the team that they will get crushed by for the next 10 years if everyone stays healthy…. the 76ers.

Ainge really outsmarted himself this time.

I think the Lakers will be in good shape, too.  Good start with Lonzo Ball and Ingram.  Then I think they either trade their other guys for another top guy in this year’s draft OR sign some big time free agents.

I would say it’s 50/50 that LeBron signs with the Lakers next summer IF the Cavs can’t win a title this year OR maybe they don’t even get to the Finals…

I think LeBron would help his legacy if he ended his career on the flashiest/best NBA franchise over the past 50 years.  BEAT an all-time GREAT Warriors team in a WCF.  Then roll through the Celtics in the Finals.

I think time is running out on LeBron a bit, BUT I still think he can get a 3peat if he goes to the Lakers in the summer of 2018.

Then IF he ends up getting a 3 peat from 2019-2021, AND still gets to the Finals next year with the Cavs then he would be at ELEVEN STRAIGHT FINALS which would be THE RECORD.  I think Bill Russell did 12 in a row.  He would also be up to 12 Finals which would TIE Bill Russell’s record.  Would also give him SIX TITLES which would tie Jordan and Kareem, and giving him one more than Magic and Kobe.

He would BREAK the all-time Finals scoring record with that many more Finals runs…

He would also have a shot at breaking the all-time NBA scoring record.

If he got to 6 Finals MVP’s then THAT would tie Jordan’s record.

I also think that LeBron might be a front-runner in 2018-2019 for the NBA MVP award.  Kawhi might get it next year.  Or, KD gets another one.  I don’t see Steph getting two more MVP’s in the next couple of years.  I don’t see Westbrook getting more than one… Guess Anthony Davis and the Greek Freak will be up for the MVP award over the next several years.

Looking forward, I can see the Celtics getting to the Finals BUT I think they could LOSE multiple Finals.  Either to the juggernaut Warriors as early as next season, OR to a LeBron Showtime team out in LA (more likely the Lakers).

Yep.  And Philly looks pretty good too… You have to think that they will be a top 3 or 4 team in the East soon, and look set up to get to at least a couple of Finals and even win a title.

I can see the Boston Celtics being squeezed out a bit between super team eras.  Not even counting on the Bucks taking another step up, or the Knicks finally figuring it out with a team built around Kristaps Porzingas.  And the Wizards are solid.  I can see the Wizards getting to multiple ECF’s over the next several years.

The EAST could be the most STACKED conference soon — at least as far as the top 4-5-6 goes…

Philly is doing it the RIGHT way.  Their BIG TWO now is Simmons and Embiid and NOW they have their BIG THREE of Simmons, Embiid, and Fultz.  Saric is LIKELY their fourth guy.  Then they have some solid role player guys like Robert Covington, Richaun Holmes, TJ McConnell, and Justin Anderson.  Guys you NEED if you wanna win big.  Okafor is still an asset.  I would like to see them cash that in REALLY SOON.

Portland wants to get rid of some picks.  And, probably trade some players.

I would trade them Okafor, 39, 50, and cash for 15, 20, 26, and some random contract.

With those mid/late first rounders the Sixers can pick up ANOTHER 3 and D wing guy, and probably TWO MORE solid big men…

Looks like they could get Justin Jackson with 20( or Terrance Ferguson), and then a couple of more bigs at the other two draft slots: Jarrett Allen, Bam Adebayo, TJ Leaf, Ivan Rabb, Harry Giles, and Jordan Bell.  GREAT part of the draft if you are looking for your third and fourth big men.  … that range also has some solid 3 and D wing types if you aren’t sold on Covington and Justin Anderson.

Not the spot to take a high octane shooting guard but this isn’t really the draft for that…  although they can probably get Sindarious Thornwell at 36.

They can target extra point guard depth at 46, but with Simmons, Fultz, AND McConnell on the roster, it looks like they have enough floor generals… although I probably wouldn’t pass on Frank Mason III if he is still there…  I thank that he and Fultz could actually work in a lot of rotations.  Gives you backcourt with ball handling, passing, athleticism, speed, shooting, and scoring, while not being TOO SMALL…

With a BIG FOUR of Simmons, Embiid, Fultz, and Saric, then you have Robert Covington as your fifth option glue guy or a 3 and D sixth man.  Then you fill out the BULK of your 6/7-9/10 rotation with the Blazers’ picks at 15, 20, and 26.  AND that is an IDEAL part of the draft to get some extra help inside and on the wing…

Looking ahead to next year’s draft: Looks OK for bigs in the top 3 or 4 picks.  If you DON’T get a top pick, or your assets don’t lead to a TOP PICK, the rest of the draft looks pretty good for shooting guards like Diallo or more-proven 2 guards (possibly with less upside though) with guys like Allonzo Trier and Grayson Allen.  In between that, you have Miles Bridges who MIGHT ACTUALLY be an IDEAL fifth guy for a Philly Big Five.  Simmons and Fultz on the perimeter.  Saric and Embiid as the bigs and guys who can shoot some from the outside.  Miles Bridges "bridges" the gap between the perimeter guys and the inside guys and can do some of EVERYTHING.  Decent athlete, too.

If I were looking ahead, THAT would be the guy I would be targeting RIGHT NOW…  that, and an sleeper 3 point sniper from an obscure school (2nd round/late first round)…

     Fultz rookie=no NBA experience

Simmons rookie=same as Fultz plus injuries

Embid,Monster= Injuries and 1 year playing, can he finish a season?

    Saric=very talented

Celtics are not worried aboutPhilly. Fultz was scouted and they dont want him.He will be ball dominant and suspect he will not get in the lane as easy as people think ala Dangelo Russell.

Not saying Fultz will have his way in the paint but if you think he’s driving to the bucket the way D-Lo does, you’re sadly mistaken my friend.
