Dont be surprised if this happen. JJ was a point forward with a smooth game and a nice midrange jump shot. Not as athletic as PJ at the same stage but better in the post and a better college player

I would not be surprised. I am also not sure that is the worst thing that could happen with PJ. Jefferies has had a solid career as a backup/bench player. If PJ was slightly better than JJ he could be a useful part of any team. JJ jas been no all-star, but if he was slightly better at what he does he could have been a pretty solid player. I could see PJ ceiling as something similar to maybe Odom, but he does not seem to have a crazy motor or a killer instinct, I would be a little wary of PJ.

Jeffries was/is more perimeter oriented than Jones. Jones is a better scorer around the rim and more offensive minded than Jeffries is too.

oh.. this looks like a fun game…

Dont be surprised if Barnes turns out to be DerMarr Johnson with less length

Dont be surprised if Davis turns out to be Steven Hunter

Dont be surprised if Beal turns out to be Juan Dixon

i think its good that we’re aware of not only of who these players can be like if they live up to their potential, but also project a pesimistic view if they dont. being aware of their basement may not be as nice as focusing at their ceiling, but it gives you a better awareness on the gamble teams will take on drafting a certain player over another.

Even though you are right. He was really good at Indiana, alot better freshman campaign than PJ3. Jones has more upside because Jerries was actually pretty polished. Jones is also longer. That MKG is Augmon is asking for it, but might also be just as right. This is these guys floors though. I have noticed that MKG also finishes below the rim alot. Lay ups and most of his dunks and low to the ground.

As a side note, has anyone noticed the only way to get a lot of points is post many times to meaningless non basketball forum topics. No matter how critical and or great some of the post people put up, if its about basketball somebody will never get as much credit as someone that puts up a video of a guy getting kicked in the nuts.

I can see the similarities… Jeffries was really good though in hs and college… I’m surprised he didn’t become a better NBA player than he is.

I think Jones is more physically gifted and talented than Jeffries though. Just needs some polish. I may be in the minority, but I think this kid is going to be much better in the NBA. I hope he goes to the right situation.

I’m really hoping Jones lands with the Celtics and they re-sign Garnett for close to the minimum. Garnett is the ideal mentor to show Jones how to use his length and versatility to full effect in the NBA.

Yes both are skinny, but jefferies has no offensive game where as jones can drive, shoot and finish inside… Additionally, jefferies is pretty great defensively considering how slight he is… he can guard 3-5… jones can’t really guard anyone right now… he defense is the weakest part of his game. Why don’t you just say…" hey guys, I dont really like perry jones and I dont think he is a good prospect" instead of making a comparison to hide what essentially is an assertion…

Trent, you’re thinking about jefferies in the NBA. jefferies in college was better than Jones and lead his team to the NCAA title game. He finished better at the rim as well as midrange  and better shooter from deep

Stacy Augmon wasn’t as good as MKG as a freshman. Wasn’t even as good as MKG in year two. He was good but didn’t finish at the same percentage. Stacy was also shorter and much skinnier (200-205) and four years older as a rookie than what MKG will be. Like I’ve said before players with low motors don’t just get one on e they get in the NBA

Stacey Augmon won defensive player of the year in his conference 3 years in a row. He was the plastic man who locked people down. How exactly aren’t they similar

when you see ken’ faried you know he loves the game….

he’s far from having perry jones skill level but you know he will perform and you know he will develop his game and make progress (cause you can teach him).

with Jones you just have absolutely no clue he could one day develop his game and perform.

MKG is only 18 he will probably weigh 50 pounds more than Augmon when he gets older some similarites but MKG is more of a poor mans Lebron James.
