I think he has the potential at baylor to put up a near 25 and 10 just like kevin durant and michael beasley did their freshman years, also i think that would be enough for him to earn the number one pick unless harrison barnes leads UNC to the championship
He probably wont score 25 and 10 but he is that talented and good but he has a weak motor and probably will only show flashes of brilliance instead of being consistently dominating everygame like he can
i think he should stay two years
Perry Jones stats for season 10-11
24/27 ppg 10/12 rpg 2,5/3,5 apg 1,5 rpg 2 spg
Perry Jones Is Nowhere Near Durant At The Same Age
He Has Tons Of Potential But He Is Nowhere Near Getting Those Averages
I Think When He Enters The Year Next Year, It WIll Take Him 1 or 2 more Years
Before He Can Maybe Reach Or Even Get Near His Potential
Expect him To Get 10 Less Points Than You Think
I Expect Him To Get Around 13-16 points 6-9 rebounds a Game at Baylor Next Year
Is That a Joke? Its Hard To Understand Sarcasm In The Internet
He has the talent to be dominant, but I expect 12 or 13 ppg, 6 rpg, 1 bpg, 1 spg next year. And I agree 100% blazermann, I'd love for Jones to stay for 2 years. In fact, that would likely be best for him
I expect 17-points 8-rebounds, 3-assists, 1-steal, and 1-block per game. People are acting as if Baylor doesnt already have a pecking order, they are largely mistaken. Lacedarius Dunn is going to have a good year, but Perry's should show why many believe him to be the Top Recruit of this years class.
Why are people so freaking high on this kid? His offensive polish isn't even remotely close to Beasley or Durant. He's also shown a complete lack of desire to play in the post against shorter smaller competition. In terms of skill set, he's more Aminu/Randolph at this point. His jumper is streaky, his post moves are raw, his defense is lackadaisical. He wants to be a SF/SG, and he has games where he doesnt do anything for long periods of time. And not like, one or two out of 20. Like six or seven out of 20, and that fact alone will keep his averages down. Jones will have games like 26 mins, 22 pts, 9rebs, 3 ast, a stl and 2 blks, then follow it up with a 26 min, 4pt, 2rb and nothing else effort. He was held to single digits 10 times in 34 games. I know kids on my block that never had 10 games in singles digits in their careers! The guy averaged 13.6 points and 9.2 rebounds as a 6'11 senior... how is this the guy that gonna steal shots from Dunn, one of the hardest workers I see in college basketball today. Again, if you REALLY think this guy is going to put up number that before Beasley and Durant were never done by a freshman, you've seen too many mixtapes.
Wheres stanford hoops? He needs to set yall straight.
Perry Jones a Big 12 Superstar as a Freshman? I doubt he makes that much impact considering his lack of assertiveness. I think Josh Shelby will be an instant superstar with Kansas this year tho, both Sharron Collins and Xavier Henry is gone so its Shelby's team for the taking. Hes a dynamite offensive player and I can see him averaging close to 20PPG, he may lack some PG skills but he certainly has plenty of offensive fire-power, he could be what Steve Francis was for Maryland.
he has potential but those who keep saying hes gonna put up those high numbers obviously haven't seen him play and are going by you tube highlights. the guy is no where near as polished as beasley nor durant. good lord some are y'all are more unrealistic then some knick fans
Wont average that much Lacedaris Dunn is not passing the ball lol and Perry Jones isnt staying for two seasons he said that @ the McDonalds game because of his mom being ill
@mess.eee Selby is really good but i think he is way to erratic but will probably win it look at Tristan Thompson at Texas and Tony Mitchell at Missouri as sleepers
I'd be shocked if Josh Selby wasn't Big 12 F.O.Y
Yea I haven't seen much of this guy but its pretty pathetic for a guy being billed as a top 5 pick to avg those kinda #s as a HS sr. But it just seems like whatever he does at Baylor probably won't matter, as long as he shows some flashes, he'll be at least lottery pick. I don't think a guy with that much hype and that much of a name will drop below that. BJ Mullens couldn't even start at Ohio State and his floor was a top 20 pick, so I think Jones even if he's a lil underwhelming, won't drop too far as in 2nd round or anything. If he stays another year I wouldn't be shocked however, as nowadays nothing shocks me either way...
Baylor has a pretty solid squad. I expect Quincey Acey to jump into NBA consideration this season. He is a freak athlete and I think he'll come in to his own this season. Jones won't have to average 20 and 10 with Baylor's current squad. 16 pts and 7 rebounds is about what im expecting from him this season.
beasley and durant werent number 1 picks
^^^^ He said if Jones put up numbers like Durant or Beasley he feels he could be the number 1 pick over Barnes, not that Durant and Beasley were picked #1.
i think everything has been said, specially about his raw offensive skills.
So, 25 & 10 aint happening.
Right now, he's a guy who can do a bit of everything.. good.
Honestly who puts up 25 and 10 in college? Very rare to find that and it should never be expected.
Durant put up 26 and 11 and Beasley dropped 26 and 12, pretty impressive, but the most freakish freshman season I remember is Glen Robinson dropping 30 and 10 in the mid 90's he was un real that season.
You either have never watched Perry Jones play or you haven't watched Baylor play if you think Jones will score 17 ppg. Or both. He didn't even score that in HS.
He will be playing alongside a guy who will get a bunch of shots and rarely looks to pass much in LaceDarius Dunn, and the guard play with A.J. Walton as their starter will not allow him to be set up by a saavy playmaker who has experience. Walton isn't that good at all, so whatever Jones gets will be a product of his physical skills. 17 ppg is a reach, especially with those factors combined with the fact that he's not aggressive or really polished yet.
i just don´t understand this... 25/10? those arent numbers you can expect just because a guy looks really good in a 5 minute youtube clip!
if you ask me he maybe is the most talented player in this draft but he is far from reaching his potential.
in dont understand why all of you talk about him having 15/7 this year would be a bad year for him? i actually think this would be a good year for him....
we can expect nothing...
if he give his 100% he could be nearly 20/10 1st pick and 15&8 R.O.Y. and still not improve alot later because of his motor..
or in the other way he could be 12/6 freshmen top5 pick with single digit avg in his rookie year but later win MIP and become 20ppg scorer easily.
Jones will probably put up 15 to 18 ppg with 8 to 10rpg. I think he will be one and done as unless he really crashes he'll be a top 10 pick at worse. Staying for his sophomore year could help him and he could do a Blake Griffin and go much higher by staying in college but the 2012 draft does look very loaded already.
uhhh Joe Wolf, I'm pretty sure Glen Robinson wasn't a frosh when he put up them numbers. He was a junior or redshirt soph, whichever u prefer...
And like I said, I haven't seen much of him in HS besides all star circuit and highlight clips, but what would make some ppl believe he'll average more in college than he did in HS against HS comp. This is big time D1 basketball he's gonna be playin now!
He was ineligable, I guess youre right because he was with the team he just couldn't play. It's not like he transferred from a Juco. I was like 11 so cut my memory some slack, haha. just kidding. Thanks for the correction.
i think big dog was a redshirt freshman.. growing up that was my idol. even wore number 13 in hs and aau because of him. everyone was on the fab 5 bandwagon while i was on the bigdog, conzo martian, matt waddell bandwagon
As far as perry jones dont expect more then the numbers favors gave you this season. half of which is because he's still raw and he doesnt go hard all the time (he actually goes less hard then favors and thats not a good thing) the other half is because baylor has a very good team
He was a Junior when he dropped 30-10 in college.
I expect 16 points, 8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for Jones.
if perry averages that ill be extremely suprised..he struggled to do that in hs
But you just said don't expect more then the numbers Favors had. Favors was a 12-9-2 guy last season. I gave him 4 more points, lowered the rebounds and blocks.
Yeah if Perry Jones gets more than 14 ppg, he will have done Baylor a HUGE justice. I have a hard time seeing him getting more than 14 ppg playing with LaceDarius Dunn, with a PG who's not very good or experienced, and he's not polished or aggressive right now. I actually think if he gets 16 and 8, he should be the 1st pick. I don't even know if Harrison Barnes will do that, and a bigger part of UNC's offense will run through him than what Jones will see at Baylor
exactly..i expect favors numbers and he doesn't go as hard...anyone who has seen him play in games and not just YouTube clips can easily see why chances are very high he wont score 16 a game. most if not all people are basing his stats on YouTube highlights. im willing to bet that people dont know that during that aau tournament he didn't score alot of points like that highlight video suggested. everything is based on his potential in the future( like 3-4years down the road)
