For people who care about Chris Paul
I thought Marbury would go down as an all time great back in the day, so did alot of people. Not saying I dont love CP3, but it requires titles or records to be in the same realm as Stockton and Magic and Isiahh. What is remarkable though, is that I already think he is getting pretty close to Jason Kidd and Gary Payton on my imaginary all time list. Im excited to see how his career turns out, He seems like a great kid who works his butt off and I hope that in 5 or 6 years he has a title. Might wanna leave New Orleans for that.
I believe that Chris Paul has shown more than the skills to be considered one of the best. He just needs to be on a better team. They need to start drafting better and also they need to make better free agent acquisitions. Peja is hurt a lot and they are paying him a good deal. Mo pete is getting like 5 or 6 mil and he hasnt played at all. They have not given Wright time to grow as a player. They let Pargo go and now they have issues at the back up point but I am sure Daniels next year should be able. They need better bigs. Armstrong and Ely and not getting the job done consistantly and Chandler has been hurt this year. Denver Nuggets have shown this year sometimes all it take is one good trade to help get a team on track.
The same was said about guys like A.I and Marbury, Paul's to young for Magic comparison but im sure if he had Kareem Abdul Jabar instead of Tyson Chandler I might change my mind
Neither AI or Marbury could carry a team as a playmaker. They could score but not score and set up their teammates quite like Paul, he makes others better.
call me crazy, but i think D. Rose will surpass him by his 3rd season! i figured i could get away with saying that since others are saying CP3 will pass the likes of Zeke, Stockton, J. Kidd etc....i think my prediction is pretty tame by comparison.
considering PGs take a long time to get adjusted to nba game, rose has been improving pretty quickly...
but maybe not in his 3rd season.
personally i would put cp3 a little lower than payton (just for now)
Actually considering players now are coming in more athletic than before Rose has the skills and height to be better than Paul which is true. I have seen Stockton play and I have seen Paul and if he keeps this up he should overtake Stockton but obviously since Magic was like 6'8" a comparison with Paul would not be wise. I saw old highlights of Zeke and he was crazy good. I don't know if Paul can surpass him but thing is Zeke got hurt and if Paul plays longer than you have to give Paul the edge.
GP starting slipping too early though but in his early days he was a beast on both sides of the floor. I would also put Kidd above Stockton especially if he play 3 more years because Stockton played like almost 17 years or so.
Here's the problem as time goes on we lose the significance of the historical context of all these players I'm younger but I'm shocked that Bob Cousy was only mentioned a handful of times. Dude has six titles to John Stockton's ZERO. Stockton was a great player, and I would never argue that he wasn't but Cousy changed the game. I also don't really like the idea of putting Oscar Robertson on the list even though he is arguably the best player the NBA has ever seen (yes including Jordan) he was more of a utility guy capable of playing point but seems to most often be regarded as a two guard. Dude was a beast nonetheless, so I can't argue too much if we include him. Maravich should also be on the list too, he really changed the game. Nonetheless, I don't think CP needs to have a title to be considered the best point guard he has made a team with virtually no other superstars playoff caliber and last year a title contender. Everyone else that we mentioned had another big name to get the job done. Take away CP and they are in the lottery! He is indespensible to there team. I'm putting CP right under Magic after a few more years at this level.
for the magic comparisons, however he is putting up crazy numbers right now and is arguably the 2nd or 3rd best player in the league right now ( sorry Kobe fans ). Lets check back in about 6 years and see.

Will CP3 become the best PG ever besides a guy named Magic???
