ESPN Marc Stein has reported a deal has been agreed between Lakers and Hornets...
so it would look something liek this
LAL: Chris Paul
NO: Kevin Martin, Louis Scola, Dragic, and Odom
Hou: Pau Gasol
what do you guys think? and do lakers still have enough to go after howard?
They have Bynum...so they atleast have a start
thats just 2 bad because i have always liked paul. not a laker fan and not a fan of players teaming up. this is starting to get old!
yea Howard is next for Bynum...
my question is...besides Cp3, Kobe, and Dwight...who else will they have??? i guess it wont matter tho huh? lol
wow martin dragic and scola are going to new orleans, theyre lucky there getting gasol, if they didnt they would be trash
You can put me, you and inukawaii8 with them... It doesn't matter.
Kobe, CP3 and D12... It's over. Best defensive team in the NBA. Kobe wins at least two or three more rings.
props to GMs like denver's and now new orleans' to really turn a player who they know they'll lose for nothing (melo, paul) into quality players
if only toronto had some common sense.. via the vince carter trade way back... and more recent, losing chris bosh for nothing :(
I wonder how Kobe feels about this???
They are going to get Dwight Howard now that Gasol and Odom are gone? I mean, getting Chris Paul is one thing, definitely think it is a solid move. Nonetheless, Howard for Bynum? No one else thinks the Magic might try to get something better? Who else is involved? If the Magic are cool just giving up Dwight Howard for Andrew Bynum, than I have to say, that is a really ridiculous deal.
The Lakers cannot sign Dwight as a free agent next summer, I guess unless they use the amnesty on Bynum, but why would the Magic be cool forking over Dwight for Andrew Bynum? Am I missing someone else involved in the Paul trade? You cannot be desperate enough to unload Hedo Turkoglu's contract to just trade he and Howard for Bynum. Unless you are out of your mind.
What the hell are the lakers gonna do to get howard????? Bynum str8 up ain't gonna do it. Who do they throw in? Metta World Peace????? Derek Fisher???? i mean come on! If they don't get howard they lost alot a depth for not enough in return they bet the farm on chris paul i think the jury is still out on this one I think.
we were writing at the same time i guess took the words right out of BRAIN down through the canal towards my NOSE and out of my MOUTH!
I think it's a bad trade for the Rockets. They give up Kevin Martin and Luis Scola for Pau Gasol, bad move.
Let's wait until the remaining details of the deal come out completely.
I'm a Lakers fan so I'm loving the moves we are making bcuz last year byum let the cat out the bag saying the lakers was having trust issue so things wasn't all good in the lockerroom we still will have Metta world peace n let's just say he go back to the Defensive minded player he use to be wow we would be top Defensive team of this year. Still would have Dfish for playoffs Matt barnes kopono. So things should be good
yeah you're right scola and pau give you basically the same production in a different style then to lose kmart 2.0 too? yeah they got screwed over......
honestly i think dwight is going to LA. Bynum is basically the best future centerpiece they can get for Dwight unless you think Brook Lopez is better than Bynum and just the fact that Dwight can basically control all negotitations just by refusing to sign a extension essentially means, if Dwight wants to go the LA, he is gonna go to LA. No one will give the Magic the pieces they want if Dwight doesn't want to sign a extension with them so unless Magic want to let Dwight go and get nothing in return, they have to have Dwight's approval to any team and i'm guessing as of now Dwight's dream team is the Lakers despite the obvious comparisons to Shaq
Unless the Lakers get Howard, I think they took a step backwards. Their greatest advantage on the rest of the league was the size and skill level of their frontcourt with Pau, Odom, and Bynum. Gasol and Odom were two of the smartest, most selfless, and skilled big men in the league. Now, they have just Bynum who fine but more hype than substance. Kobe in headed into year 16, and this move sans what may come is putting a greater burden offensively on him. Who is going to be their starting power forward? Is this where the likes of Yi Jianlian, Kris Humphries, Josh McRoberts, and Chris Wilcox are coming into play? Even with Dwight, winning it this year with that thin of a froncourt might be tough.
DNYCE seems to think that they do.
This is stupid. No they don't have enough. They need Howard much more than they need Pual, so I'm not sure if they handled this correctly. And if they go after Howard, the Magic will likely want a Big Man in return, and the Lakers are already strapped at the 4 and 5 as it is.
The Lakers have to know something we don't... You don't give up two seven footers (I know Odom is 6' 10"... Just roll with it) for a 6' 0" point guard without knowing you're getting a big back.
I was asking my brother who the Laker's have after Dwight in terms of front court Depth. Its what scared people about the Lakers more than ever. But if the Lakers give up all those pieces, I just don't know...They will have their hands full more than people think.
The trade hasn't been finalized yet. Reports are saying Lakers might be getting Okafor as well
Not a bad deal, but they are not going to get Howard for just Bynum. If they somehow still manage to keep Odom, than I think that they have a legit shot at getting Howard. Hornets get great pieces. They will most likely lose David West, but the playes they got back aren't bad.
And plus, I agree with Indiana Basketball, I expect that LA will get a big back, maybe Aaron Gray, or possibly Hasheem Thabeet.
I think they know they are getting Howard because they took a step back with just getting paul. To the person thinking Bynum for Howard can't happen I ask you this, who did the lakers trade to get Gasol? Exactly
This will be an epic fail if the Lakers aren't getting back Dwight Howard or another quality big man.
CP3, Kobe and Bynum isn't a step upwards in my opinion.
Kwame and a gamble on marc which turned out to be a good one he's almost on the level of his brother and still has upside left......
What do they have to offer for Howard outside of Bynum? Unless they purge their remaining contracts and sign Howard in the offseason (if that's even possible), how are they going to get him?
UK Nation, the difference is that Memphis was already lsing when they traded Gasol, which is why they traded Gasol, and didn't take as much backlash as they should of taken.(Memphis' GM should have been fired on the spot for even thinking of that deal) Howard is producing wins, and is a SUPERSTAR. Looking at what the Hornets got, they got a very good deal. And all three of the guys that the Hornets got for Paul scored more than Bynum last season. The only way I see this happening is if the Lakers give Ebanks-Goldilocks(or what ever his name is, lol), and Darius Moore, plus another piece that they got from the Paul deal that hasn't been disclosed yet, a pick or two, maybe Artest, and they would have to take back some really bad contracts.
Bynum has star potential which is why they would consider that deal. Bynum at his best has shown he can be a all-star and he's still very young
