How does Paul George fit with the Indiana Pacers? Is he their Starting Shooting Guard sooner rather than later and how good do you think he can be?

Hes gonna have to play SG, since Granger is a SF, although Granger is also capable of playing some minutes at the PF because of his long wingspan and his inside/outside game and play some small ball.

To be honest, im not sure what the Pacers were trying to do in the draft, with Paul George in the 1st and Lance Stephenson in the 2nd. Perhaps they were going for “the best player available” instead of going for need, because all of a sudden they are crowded with SFs and SGs on their roster. I guess their no longer sold on Brandon Rush and Dunleavy on his final year of his contract.

He said he sees himself as a SG in the NBA, I guess he could do it but I am not sure the Pacers want him as that or as a SF unless they trade Granger which I doubt, he is the lone bright spot on that time other then maybe Hibbert. Realistically they will probably start George as a backup SF/SG, see where he fits better and if he proves better and more efficient as a SG they will ease him into the lineup, if they like him as a SF better I cannot see him being a backup to Granger for too long so that could present a problem. I think he fits better as a SG though, could work well with Granger.

I don’t think he complement’s Granger that well. Neither can create his own shot and they don’t have a point to do it for them so they are kinda on their own.

If they are going to start George which and Granger, which I would beleive they could and it would work well, they are going to need a good team management point guard. But George and Grangers game compliments each other better then you think. First off despite the fact that George is 6’9 he is actually very fluid and fast. He will have no trouble guard other 2guards and will actually create a slight matchup problem on offense because of his height and quick release. George is not a great ball handler yet but her does have better vision then people give him credit for that is one of the main reasons that George moved so high in workouts was because of his all around versatility was better then GM’s thought. George isnt a one dimensional player and neither is Granger they will work well together.

Everyone is caught up in whether or not he can defend other 2 guards. I don’t think he has to be able to play the 2 guard right away. I think Granger is more than capable of sliding to the 2 spot and letting George play the 3. Offensively, they are perfect together because neither dominate the ball, but both can still score. If only they had a good PG to get them easy shots…..

You said Granger couldn’t create his own offense. The Pacers haven’t had a good point guard in years… Granger has averaged 20+ points the last couple of seasons. IF he can’t create his own offense, who’s been doing it for him?
