all that cal had done for memphis is gone!!!! This young guy can recruit but this is not the program to give him his first jead coaching job. WOW!
this is the worst coaching hire i have ever seen....i guess they give anybody coaching jobs now-a-days.....ridiculous..lol
Lol i know who he is but this is THE WORST HIRE I HAVE EVER SEEN AS WELL! Speechless.............and wht about the new arizona coach???? I hope he does a better job at arizona than he did at Xavier. He did well there dnt get me wrong but, i take pride in the Pac-10 and this Zona program. He better come with it.
I also just heard that Xavier and C.J. Henry might actually go to Memphis after all because this guy Pastner is offering there Father the title of Director of basketball operations....desperate move if you ask me...
I don't think it's that desperate, Kansas has done the same thing this isn't that uncommon Danny Manning is a product of Kansas hiring his father. Memphis did this before with Dajuan Wagner's father this is something a lot of clubs are doing wether it's hiring parents like they do at USC which makes it where the kids don't have to use a athletic scholarship because they're parents are now employees of the school. I see your point about it seeming desperate but to be real a lot of these coaches are desperate for elite talent thats what truly makes most good programs.I'm from Memphis so nobody feels as bad as we do down here about the whole Calipari situation but we tried to get some of the best coaches and all that happened was we got them all raises and extentions so we had to try soemthing a little different and we went young so were gonna give this young guy a shot and support him and hope for the best and maybe in a few years we'll be close to the level that we were the last couple of years and we could possibly get into a better conference. Hopefully he will use some of the things he learned from Lute Olson and Cal as far as recruiting and game management to his advantage and also use his AAU ties in Texas to build his recruiting base and we might be OK.But I understand most people's dissappointment with the hire, but we have to work with what we got and maybe this gamble will pay off.
