Big time pac 12 fan here who watched more college ball than normal with the pac 12 network showing all the games in the conference plus with lakers being bad, the bruins were my go to for my basketball fix more than normal. So i thought i would give a little run down on some of the prospects (not too crazy in depth, just killing some time)

markelle fultz-no major weakness. Terrific shooting form, can stop on a dime. Attacks the rim hard and plays the pick and roll well splitting tight spaces and gettting where he wants. I view him as a sg, not a pg although if he were to be drafted by a team already set at sg he could play the point in an offensively aggresive role. Biggest knock is that he seemed too passive at times, not as much killer instinct as you would have liked. Its wierd becasue his numbers suggest he went all out, but that husky team was so garbage all i could think was why was he not going for 40 every night out. He didnt even looked bothered by the losing to be honest. When asked late in the season about the teams dismal record, he responded by saying there is so much more to life then basketball and he was enjoying his time at washington, something about that mentality might scare me. Still, this would be my #1 pick over lonzo who i loved watching play.

lonzo ball-I got him behind fultz, but im still a big time beleiver in this kid. People talk about the passing as they should, but even then i think his passing is underrated. He threw guys open before they were open. He led people where they needed to be not where they were. His cross court passes, hitting trail men for threes in transition, push ahead passes and basic swinging of the ball might not be highlight material, but he routinely made the pass that was the correct play almost every time. Also terrific athlete, bounces around the floor and catches lobs easily. Knock is beating guys one on one in halfcourt sets. He doesnt punish you physically and doesnt break ankles so nba defnses locked in on him might minimize his ability to impact games. But he does have amazing touch in the paint when he does get there. floaters and scoop shots were all nice and his fg% on shots in the paint was over 70%. ALso he never got flustered by defenders in full court situations with head of steam, his ball handling and quickness were fine in that regard.

Lauri Markanen-honestly, im just not too high on this guy. I see him more in that end of the lotto 12-15 range and even then im not sure i love his game. He stands around too much when he doesnt have the ball, and doesnt have explosive finishing ability at the rim. ANd while he is certainly a good shooter, hes not a knock down ryan anderson type, at least not yet. Maybe im being too critical, but just count me in for saying this guy doesnt translate as well as people think. He does have anice strong body and will hold his own in the post on both ends and is skilled enough in all fascets on offense that he will make you pay if you neglect paying attention to him.

Ike anigbogu-potenital is there. ALready has nba body and plays like a man who knows how to use it going strong when he does make moves and attacking people defenisvely. Excellent athlete/jumper who can catch lobs, high point rebounds and block shots well after it leaves the shooters hands. With all that being said, hes years away from being polished and whoever drafts him has to be patient. Doesnt move the ball quick enough either when he gets it, takes alittle too long dissecting the play if he does catch it in situation where its not a simple catch and finsh.

tj leaf-terrific motor running the court, diving the lane making himself available or chaisng rebounds. His shooting mechaincs might not be good enough to be a threat from nba level, but he really does great job anywhere from 10-20 feet. Even off dribble or catching the ball in traffic, he always seems to have good touch and get up a quality shot. Nice post moves. Very confident, never mentally checks out of game and never hesitated when opportunties presneted themselves. The thing keeping him out of the top 10 is size/strength. He will be taken advantage of on defense and wont bully anybody on offense to get good position down low. Time in the gym will do him a lot of favors but he has enough skill on offense to contribute as a rookie if given the minutes.

ivan rabb-good length and enjoys doing the little things around the basket to be a solid role player. High basketball IQ who can pass it out of post, wont force his own shot. UNfortunately i think a lot of people would have liked to see him force his own shot more often.Never showed the consistent take over the game skills cal fans hoped for. Has shown flashes of nice touch from the perimter and the fact he knows his limitations will help him find a niche where he wont piss coaches off trying to do too much.

jordan bell-Most people got a good look at bell with the ducks final 4 run and his monster game vs Kansas taking them out the tourny. His passion and intensity is second to none(excpet when boxing out at the ft line vs UNC apparently) He was an emtional leader who would get on his teammtes the second he didnt think they were playing all out. He was named DPOY in the pac and earned it getting after guys and playing that end like it was a fist fight. Terrific athlete, good footwork around the paint where he uses quick moves to make up for the fact he isnt particularly tall or big. His defensive potential will suffer a bit vs nba sized guys who can post, but vs quicker bigs or when switching on pick and rolls, he will help his team out there. Not a floor spacer but good attacking off dribble.

dillon brooks-had a rough tourny that defenitely tarnished his nba potential. Especially on the defensive end where he was a liability both vs his man and in help situations. I give him a little bit of credit in that he was asked to rim protect more then normal after chris boucher went down in the pac 12 tourny, but still he needs to focus more on defense. Offensively, he can really shoot it and has an excellent mid range pull up. He attacks the rim hard, but tries to bull through guys on drives too often which led into forced shots. Not much of a ball handler, more catch and quick move or shoot. Above average athlete and tons of confidence.

Kyle Kuzma-this site has him going first round and i have to say he might have been my favorite pac 12 player this past year who didnt wear baby blue. 6-10 pf who put up 16 and 9 for a solid NIT bound Utah squad. He doesnt post up much, he prefers playing on outside and facing up. Not a good shooter but has potential to develop there. HIs strength is playing kind of a point pf role disecting defense from the top and swinging the ball or putting it on the floor and attackign himself. Good first step and length attacking the rim where he can cover lots of ground quickly. Nice physical body where he can bully guys on drives ala carmelo anthony, but plays more like a 6-10 sf. with questionable jumper. Would love to see him go first round and surprise a lot of people who didnt watch Utah this year.

there are some other guys with good chances to be drafted like Derrick WHite from colorado, rawle alkins, kobi simmons, chance commanche, chris boucher, thomas welsh.

I actually think Tyler Dorsey is a better NBA prospect than Dillon brooks.

"except when boxing out at the ft line vs UNC" This made me laugh.

Am I the only one that sees Dillion Brooks and thinks Denzel Valentine clone?

He is not nearly the facilator or ball-handler that Valentine is. Slightly better shooter though.

a lot of solid 1 and done prospects out of the pac this year but lets not get carried away

I am cautious to overvalue anyone not named Fultz or Ball at this point/slightly less confident but sold on Markanen.

I would have more confidence in drafting Adebayo, Bradley or Patton than Ike ,Kuzma,Bell or Leaf as of today. We’ll see what we learn at the combine if anything regarding these late lottery to undrafted options.
