Otto Porter is officially a Washington Wizard!! There is no way Ernie can mess this one up, it's as obvious as John Wall at #1 in 2010. Cleveland loves Nerlens, Orlando loves McLemore, and the Wizards love Otto!
Wall-Beal-Otto....now thats a big 3!!
The wizards were the real lottery winner if you ask me.
While Orlando loves McLemore, they are also looking at Trey Burke, which could change things if they select him. Burke and McLemore seem to be the guys who can drop a few spots depending on who picks who.
Cleveland doesn't love Noel... At this point I would say Porter and Noel are 50/50
He's definitely a good fit in Washington. A jack of all trades that can help out in a variety of ways at both ends of the court and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be productive.
I'm pretty happy with Orlando at #2, Pretty surprised that Magic Johnson said we were the "big loser" of the lottery. I really want McLemore or Burke and one of them (possibly both) will still be available.
Magic was also comparing Oladipo to MJ earlier this season after they beat MSU. I wouldn't worry too much about what Magic has to say. Orlando is in a great position at #2 and will get Burke or Ben. I imagine Nerlens will be going #1 so they won't have to deal with the added pressure of taking him to play next to Vucevic. I have Ben rated higher but Burke would be the better fit since Orland needs a PG and they just traded for Afflalo last summer.
Wall, Beal, , Porter, Nene , Okafor. Playoffs
i guess im in the minority here, but if i were washington, i wouldnt take porter. i feel the wizzards kinda have enough small forwards with them wanting to bring Martell Webster back. apart from him, they got trevor ariza to help in the short term as well as Chris Singleton as a possible long term solution. Singleton actually had a decent rookie season, showing good potential then as a 3 and d role player starter. i do think that Porter is over-all the better player, but i dont think that Otto is such a cant miss prospect that their gap is too wide and that they shouldnt address their other needs with their draft pick.
i would rather they take a young big man prospect in case they end up loosing emeka okafor to free agency, or if his level of play drops some more. the guy is no spring chicken(30 turning 31 years old) and his back-up(Kevin Seraphin) hasnt really established himself as worthy of taking on the starting center position, not to mention he's only 6'9". Seraphin had a good stretch towards the end 2 seasons ago and had some nice scoring games last year, but his defensive numbers dipped despite getting a slight bump in minutes played.
having said all that, i would honestly take Alex Len with the third over-all pick over Otto Portter. having len play in maryland just outside of washington also gives the wizards ample opportunity to scout the young big and guage his upside and game despite being unable to participate in private work-outs.
Is there a possibility the Wizards trade that pick for Cousins ?
Wall and Cousins were teammates in college and he would also have Nene and Okafor as babysitters...
