The Nets have to try on these offer sheets as they aren’t going to have their own pick, which will likely be a lottery pick, in 2018.

If he end up in brooklyn they have pieces right now with russell and porter, they have also levert and hollis jefferson. Good strategy by brooklyn although this is their only strategy lol, they can’t build through the draft, right boston? lol

Pretty sure the Wizards will match. The contract seems like a lot on paper, but I think if Washington’s smart Grunfeld wants to keep the young core of Wall, Beal, Porter, Morris and Oubre intact. They should trade Gortat for some extra bench pieces and let Mahinmi start at center.

On an only slightly off-topic note, the Wizards signed Mike Scott. To me, he’s a huge upgrade over Nicholson and adds frontcourt depth. Assuming Porter comes back, I like how he and Scott could stretch the floor while also being active on the boards.

I really like Porter and his improvement as a player but the Wizards might have to let him go. It’s actually a huge lose for them but I cant wrap my head around paying a 3rd/4th option that much when you need to get a 3rd star to make the Wizards a real threat.

They will pay Otto if they believe two things: He is there third option and That he can’t be replaced by someone already on the team…

However if they Believe Oubre can replace him/Develop into the same role or would be better off using the money other wise-On Walls max or other players next offseason/trade deadline look for them to pass…

Me personally I wouldn’t have given Beal his current deal as that is far to much for him.

I would have given Beal what the Nets have offered Otto about 100 mill (max)

I would only have offered Otto 80 mill  and probably would have done it last offseason before it got to this stage..

Then John wall- I would have only offered what you have paid Beal 130 max and that is due to having played more years than Beal…

I also wouldn’t have paid Iain Mahimi that much 64 mill that is almost as bad as Mosgov money..

As due to all the overpriced deals they have given out it has kind of hamstrung them and given them little room to actually maximize on Beal and Walls prime…

Wizards are going to match this even though they shouldn’t. They need another all-star to seriously contend.

With players jumping out West, the Wizards probably feel they are best placed to go "all in". They were only a game away from the Conference Finals last season so want to keep the likes of John Wall happy. They don’t have a lot of salary commitments after 2018-19 so aren’t crippling the franchise long term.

It was interesting that Kings who also spoke to Porter decided to go down veteran route and use a lot of their FA money there. The Nets with no pick next year had far less incentive to tank that Kings and could have been considered more likely to add vet FAs to keep the team ticking over for a year.

I could see Nets making a run at Kelly Olynk or Alex Len too.
