Orlando Summer League

It starts today.

I'm glad to have some basketball back in the dog days of summer where baseball, golf and the WNBA are the main sports until the Olympics start.

Andre Drummond, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, Perry Jones III and a few other high profile rookies will get their first taste of NBA competition this week.

Here are 3 predictions I have for today's action.

1. When the Pistons match up against the Jazz today, I feel Enes Kanter will work over Andre Drummond and provide him a wake up call to the fact that NBA centers are bigger, stronger and more skilled than their college couterparts. I think Kanter will out play him by a large margin, but Drummond will respond and bounce back playing better the rest of the tournament.

2. Matt Janning will remind everyone why he made an NBA roster two years ago. The NBA loves shooters and guys who can produce and Janning was a summer league scoring machine in 2010. He didn't have the luxury of playing last year, but I don't think he squanders this opportunity. I think he's a leading candidate to lead Orlando's SL in scoring. He drops 18 + today vs. Philly.

3. Jared Sullinger will light it up today. People still have questions whether Sullinger has the athletic ability or speed to play at an NBA level, but I do know this. He has the skills and game to be one of the most productive players in Summer League Ball. I expect a double/double from him today. I'm gonna go with 15 and 10.

This link may work, I hope it does

I wanna see Bos-OKC so bad - Aldrich-Jones vs. Sullinger-Melo sounds fun, I'll also be looking for Reggie Jackson to have a big game

The Detroit-Utah game will have a ton of young talent, will be a very interesting game

Can't watch the Indiana game though, gotta sleep (I got an 8 hour difference over here)

^ I also think Latavious

^ I also think Latavious Williams is finally ready to make an NBA roster, this season. I expect him to make some noise for OKC ( mostly rebounding and shot blocking) as I expect Cole Aldrich to emerge as a guy OKC feels comforatble promoting to their 2nd string center.

@KHAM83

Claver and Freeland won't be on Portland's summer league team. The team's roster is on the nbadraft.net home page article on the summer league.

I like Justin Harper a lot. I think he'll be called up since Ryan Anderson is gone.

NBA 2k12, pick up Harper, play him at the 3 or 4, you wont regret it. Good rebounder and athlethic.

Maalik Wayns looking nice

Maalik Wayns looking nice pushing the tempo and finding his teammates for open looks. Justin Harper is shooting well; I wonder if he will get more playing time next year in the NBA. They are playing him at the three, where he has had the good fortune of being defended by Adam Morrison, who isn't exactly a defensive stopper.

Freeland and Claver will

Freeland and Claver will definitely not play in summer league, because they will be playing for GB and Spain respectively in London olympics.

Claver most likely will not get much playing time although if Spain plays big, he could have his chance, while Freeland will be one of the key players in GB and will see 25+ minutes every game.
