Oregon(13-2) vs Arizona State(14-2)...Huge game out west tommorow
I doubt too many people care about this game, but it is a huge battle tommorow night for two of the pac 12's best teams. Im really excited for it and the winner has a strong argument for being ranked monday morning. In fact if Oregon wins, it really shouldnt even be debated that they are top 25. They already beat UNLV who is top 25 and just got done beating top 5 Arizona. Their only losses are to top 25 Cincinnati and a 3 overtime road loss to UTEP. The Ducks are the best defensive team in the pac 12, have an average win margin of 16 points per game and have strong play both inside and on the perimter. Their home win over Zona was not much of an upset. If they beat ASU, I dont care how many teams they have to jump, they should be top 25.
ASU is hands down the biggest surprise team in the pac 12 this year. Jahii Carson might be the conference player of the year as of now. He is a freshman pg who averages 17 points and 5 assists. His backcourt mate at sg is Eric Gordons little bro Evan Gordon. Carrick Felix is the sf and playing at an all conference first team level right now averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds to start conference play. And down low they have a 7-2 center in Jordan Bachynski who is averagin 4.8 blocks a game on the year. ASU doesnt have as strong a resume and probably wont enter the top 25 with a win, but will be enter the conversation going forward as a team voters will have to think about.
These 2 teams IMO are the 2 best coached teams in the PAC 12. It wouldn't be a surprise if Oregon finishes top 2 in the conference. Dana Altman is one of the most underrated coaches in America. I hope future recruits take notice.
Looking forward to having another look at Carrick Felix. Been trying to find a place for him in the 2nd round. I like his combination of all-around ability and athleticism.
I'm a big Domnic Artis fan, I haven't had the chance to check out some of his games this season yet. How has he been playing?
Artis has looked good when I've seen him. Quick and creates off the dribble and hits tough off balance shots. He's gonna be a 4 year starter for OU and be an all conference talent in the years to come. No one player really stands out for the ducks though. Similar to zona, they have a well rounded team where no one player has to take over. Center Tony woods and wing man Carlos Emory probably strike me as the two best NBA prospects from that team. Woods in particular has the size and athleticism that might get him drafted despite not being an exceptional college player.
I think Kazemi has a better chance of making a roster before Tony Woods. Woods has been in school forever and has made little improvement.
Damyean Dotson will get some looks in a couple of years.
Asu up 19-13 early. Oregon not showing the intensity they had vs Arizona. asu is getting great lOoks and could be up by a lot more. Bachynski is legit down low.
41-41 right now. Two very evenly matched teams. Everyone on both teams seem to really know thir roles and don't try to do too much. Although to be honest, neither team is playing a particularly great game. Lots of defensive lapses both ways.
