OREGON DUCKS TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!

Well friends, since this is indeed the only website I post on, I wanted to write that I am ecstatic my alma mater University of Oregon, is going to be represented in the National Championship of College Football. I used to play NCAA video games, always getting my Ducks to the championship, but I never thought it would happen in real life. We would always either get looked over, someone would get hurt or we would find a way to implode. This year, we really got it together. Our team deserves all the credit in the world, our guys worked so hard to go 12-0 and tear it up week after week. To me, Chip Kelly may not win coach of the year, but he was by far the best coach in college football. Our offense blew teams out of the water with our depth, speed and stamina, and our defense brought it as well, especially in the second half and even more so in the 4th quarter. Our mascot, Puddles, did 2757 push-ups this season! He does them every time after we score, whether it be a field goal or a TD. I did 99 on Saturday, during the Civil War (for some reason I did 9, than decided I would do them after 23, 30 and 37 as well) and I am still sore this morning, lol. We have had just an unbelievable year.

For a team who had several off of the field issues this past off-season, in many ways making us a joke of the college football world, we overcame in an amazing way. We lost our quarterback of the past two seasons, Jeremiah Masoli, known for his bulldozing runs and clutch performance, due to off the field issues and had a vigorous quarterback competition between two unprovens. The favorite, Nathan Costa, was a former lock to be the next great Duck QB who had 3 knee surgeries, yet was still seen as the best option by most Duck fans. The challenger and eventual winner, Darron Thomas, had played one amazing half against Boise State his freshman year, and was coming off of a redshirt season. Well, Darron showed that his late game play at Boise State was no fluke. This guy has nerves of steel, he never gets frazzled, always keeps his cool. I have seen our team produce NFL quarterbacks, but none with the confidence in the pocket of DT. Needless to say, he made us completely forget about this past off-season. He may not be an All-American at the level of Cam Newton, Andrew Luck or Kellen Moore, but at the end of the day, I would not want anyone other than Darron Thomas leading my team. Incredible season and a very slept on story.

You can not look past the incredible numbers put up by Cam Newton, he will undoutedly win the Heisman trophy barring a boycott. But, LaMichael James was the best runner in football bar none. He was unfortunately suspended during the first game of the season for an incident in the off-season where he was eventually cleared of wrong doing, but had he played that game he would have likely been an even greater leader for most rushing yards on the year than he already was. He had 3 performances of over 200 yards, two of them coming against the teams considered to have the best chance of beating us. His strongest game was against Stanford, a team that may indeed be one of the best teams in the entire nation. During this game, James dwarfed the performance of All-American quarterback Andrew Luck, who the commentators referred to as "the college version of Peyton Manning", and who is the likely first pick in this years NFL draft. To me, James is the closest thing in college I have seen to Barry Sanders since the man himself. He is relentless, his spin move is incredible and he does it week after week. I have no idea how he will translate to the NFL, but he has had two of the best years I think an RB has had in a long time. From breaking the Pac-10 rushing record as a freshman (doing so even with only 11 carries in his first two games of that season), to leading the nation in rushing this year going into Bowl season, it would be difficult to argue of a better two seasons by an NCAA running back in recent memory. I may be biased, but to me, he should be in contention for any award regarding MVP of college football this season.

I cannot wait to play Auburn, it will truly be an incredible moment. I am guessing we will be heavy underdogs, but I know we will come out and play with all of our heart. We are playing for a lot here, our ability is on trial and we have a lot to prove. However, knowing the history of my school as I do and following this season as I have, do not count us out. I think it would be a big mistake. Look for fast paced football and look for our team to play a great game. GO DUCKS!!!

"To me, James is the closest thing in college I have seen to Barry Sanders since the man himself."

Remember Darren Sproles at K-State from in 02-05??? I do like LaMichael James though.

I think Oregon has had a strong season though. Congrats on the title bid. Them against the Auburn Newtons will be a highly entertaining game. Lots of points should be scored and I hope for the best for you guys. I knew Eugene must be excited for their guys!! Oregon is probably the overall coolest sports program out there, from their jerseys to their new basketball court.

I don't see anyone beating

I don't see anyone beating Oregon. LaMichael James is an absolute stud, Darron Thomas is great too. That offense is amazing and they rotate players on defense so they stay pretty fresh. Newton is a stud but he can't do it alone.

Thanks for the support

Jorrye, I did leave out Sproles, he was a total beast for KSU, but I think James might have even more NFL potential (though Sproles is making like what, 7 mill this year? I love the guy, he is a very fun player to watch and super fast, but wow, that is a lot of money for a back-up RB). As I said, I may be biased :). But, LaMichael broke Pac-10 rushing records in BOTH of his first two years. Crazy! This is a conference with a large number of incredible RB's (OJ Simpson, Reggie Bush, Corey Dillon, Maurice Jones-Drew, Steven Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, just to name a few), plus he missed the first game, a game in which our back-up scored 5 TD's. The kid just reminds me of Barry, plus I guess I more remember Sproles for his numbers than for actually seeing him play with Ell Roberson (Though they were incredible in NCAA football, that option was off the hook). We have been so lucky to have Phil Knight as an alumnus, it has hooked us up to this point. He deserves a lot of credit for what has gone down, and will get even more if he keeps Chip Kelly as our coach.
