The "old" Brandon Jennings

Seriously, where has the old BJennings that I knew as a high school prospect gone? The super explosive 6'0 guard. Don't get me wrong, he is currently one of the quickest guard in the NBA, but it seems as tho he was a lot more explosive and quicker during his high school days. Maybe its just me, but the guy was a little freak athlete back then, I don't see it as much anymore.

.

He's probably still just as explosive, but since he is going up against other elite-level athletes, he won't look as explosive as he would going up against pimple-faced high schoolers.

that overseas year took away

that overseas year took away his swag and creativeness and made him more of an ordinary player. or it could just be that that was high school and almost anybody look explosive in high school. just look at dajuan wagner

I kind of agree...

Like he's still just as quick as he was, but now he looks like a frail, marginally athletic guard.....The "old" Brandon Jennings was arguably in the same category as a John Wall or D.Rose in terms of leaping ability, he was one of the few guards 6'1" and under that could do between the legs dunks and emphatic windmills with ease, but now commentators classify him as an above average, but not spectacular athlete With all of that being said this clip is from the bucks summer league game in 09' and its pretty amazing, and he was really confident about the dunk contest ..www.youtube.com/watch

NBA is a different ballgame

Lots of guys his height who can get up and bang with ease.Rose,Rondo,Wall,Westbrook are all PG's that can bang on guys just like him. All those guys are stronger than he is 2. Bigger more athletic dudes in the paint. He needs to get stronger. He needs to flat out get tougher and take the ball to the hoop and look to dish. He tends to just run the O sometimes I think he would look better on the Knicks and some run and gun. I mean Skiles is gonna bottle up his PG game cause that his coaching style. I like Jennings I would like to see him play for a different coach.

He was a stronger finisher in

He was a stronger finisher in high school, and was one of the most dynamic finisher for a 6'0 guard I've seen. Now he is just average and sometimes looks weak at finishing.

Could it be?

That he is playing in the NBA, a league full of incredible athletes who all more than likely rocked peoples socks off in HS? Brandon Jennings is much better now than he was in HS, though athleticism is something that usually wears with time, but of course he was a better finisher against HS comp than NBA comp. Eric Palmer put it best, but Brandon Jennings now is better than Brandon Jennings than, even if he is not putting up the same amazing highlights and dunking between his legs in warm-ups. Have to conserve energy in the NBA.

He might have lost a little

He might have lost a little hops by getting older (some people start loosing hops in their early 20s even if they stay in shape) or by putting on some weight. Yeah, he is still skinny, but I bet he is 10 pounds heavier now than he was in high school.

His explosive was a good

His explosive was a good asset for him but the one that stood him above everybody else in that class was his passing. His junior year he avereaged like 13 assists a game, (he did have future ACC POY Nolan Smith to pass to). That boy used to drop dimes all over ther court! But his senior year he decided he wanted to be a scorer..he shoulda stuck with the way he played his junior year cause thats what had him on top.
