dsickich123Participantthe OKC thunder are a very young and exciting team…
They have young players in Durant, Westbrook, Green, Livingston, Krstic, Sefalosha, and Weaver…
They also just draft James Harden, and BJ Mullens (and Serge Ibaka may come to play)
They are going to be a great team…
The question is when?
How long do you think that it takes for the Thunder to make the Playoffs….do you think they have a chance at the 8 spot this year?0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/27/2009 - 6:22pm #172542
Rubio is a beastParticipantThe OKC may make the playoffs, but i think its very unlikely. Maybe if they were in the East, they could have a very slight possiblilty at the 6 spot. But I see the 7 spot as the best they will do. You dont rebound that fast. If I were you, I would kinda be hoping they dont, because your roster looks 1 year away from being a contender for the 4-5 seed, but that wont happen until Harden and Mullens get used to the NBA. They might as well get a decent draft pick before they become a contender

TyroberParticipantthe thunder were 23 and 59. there is no possible way they will make the playoffs. period. it just wont happen. lakers, nuggets, rockets, blazers, spurs, mavs, hornets, suns, clips, warriors.
two of those teams arent going to make it and the thunder wont be better than those next year. they’ll definitely make it after next season though. they’ll get another high draft pick next year and there is going to be much better big men in next years class

dwat4444Participanti don’t know. the rockets seem shaky cuz t-mac is bad, yao is out, and they don’t have enough skill left. clips? i don’t even have to say anything. warriors? see before. hornets? i don’t like their saving money technique as a playoff strategy.

MattissickParticipantYeah I can see them winning 10 more games this year but they are not mature enough to play at that high of a level yet.

GreenLanternParticipantIf they sign an impact free agent in 2010 (they will have lots of cap room), get another lottery pick (or two) in next year’s stronger draft, and keep their current starters, then yes they have a shot in 2010 but not this year. The most likely scenario I’m looking for is 2011.

dsickich123ParticipantI agree…
I was not saying that I think that they will make it this year, because I don’t…
I have just heard some people say that they could take the eight spot…
I will say in 2011 they will be a great team(and a playoff team) for many years to come…0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/28/2009 - 6:26am #172606
MelParticipantThey will not make the playoffs this year. The Western Conference is stacked. Harden has not played yet, but I believe he has ROY written all over him. The Thunder have players now 1-4 who can light it up any given night. It will be interesting to see what happens with all these players when it is time to re-up for new and bigger contracts. Of course Durant will command a big raise but I wonder if the OKC front office is going to keep this team intact when they are all due their second contracts.

BriguyParticipantI dunno if there is going to be enough balls to go around. Granted I see Harden as a selfless player and will likely pass for the best result, I just wonder if Durant will do the same. Harden if given enough shots might have a good a shot or better than most to get RoY. I just wonder if he will get the shots to validate it ,cause Durant sure takes a lot of shots.
I am not implying Durant is a ball hog but is he going to give up some of the shots per game he is use to taking.

MattissickParticipanthaha don’t worry we all know Durant is a ball hog. A super good one though. Harden will be a great fit he is selfless and a good passer and a team guy.

Rubio is a beastParticipantThe OKC may be able to squeeze into the 8 spot, but does it really matter? Is everyone in Oklahoma going to go crazy that they have the privilage to lose to the Lakers? Two spots may open. I think the Rockets are to old and beat up, and I also think the Clippers wont make it. The reason is ……………………………………..Blake Griffin. I know he will be a good player. But I think the Clippers will use a year or two to make Griffin into an amazing player. Griffin will get tons of shots, as the they want him to be the leader of the team for years to come. Suspect Griffin to have 20+ points, but they will give him so many shots to improve him in the future, that they will barely miss out on the playoffs. If the Clippers do this, expect Griffin to possibly be the best PF in basketball before 2015. He will probably lead the clippers to a championship. It will just take a coulple of years to get Griffin at his best

bluedevils12Participantwill be a playoff team as long as injuries dont hamper them. there is no excuse for them not to make it except for their idiot coach and gm mike dunleavy. the clipper roster is not a sorry one. they prob have more talent than many teams in the league. they jus need sumbody to help mold them into a contender
