Huge signing for Mavs, this

Huge signing for Mavs, this gives them some more depth in the backcourt, this gives them Collison, Beabois, Carter, Mayo, Marion, Brand Dirk, and Kaman Not a bad 8 man rotation, glad OJ's gonna get a fresh start, call me crazy but I still think he has 20 ppg potential, Mavs are one or two solid pieces from contending, provided Dirk keeps up his Feruary-April form, looks to be a formidable 4th or 5th seed playoff team though.

Well done, Dallas

In the initial days of free agency, Dallas was in such a bad place that I thought they might miss the playoffs all together. They're looking pretty formidable now with a top 9 of Collison, Mayo, Beaubois, Jones, Carter, Marion, Nowitzki, Kaman, and Brand. They should be at least as good as last year and probably even better. That shows me for writing off the Mavericks! I gues this is why they win 50 games ever year.

wow

Another good move for the Mavs, they recovered pretty well from losing J Kidd to New York and Jet going to my Celtics. Somehow, Mark Cuban scrapes together the resources to make his team respectable after losing key pieces over the last few weeks

Cuban - Love him or hate him,

Cuban - Love him or hate him, he always does his best to put a competitive side out there each season....

Smart move actually he waited till alot of teams already spent their cap, then he went out and quietly put together a decent squad....

Wow.. I thought that he could

Wow.. I thought that he could be a good fit on a team that is looking to rebuild.. But now I think this is a GREAT fit for him! Kaman is good enough to score 1 on 1. Everyone knows that Dirk can just go crazy. So the post can score. But when you move the outside, Marion and Collison arent exactly scorers. That means that Mayo is going to be asked to do work from the wing. Great situation for him. He could be asked to score 15-18 points a game.

He is going to be open with Dirk doin work and Collison has great vision and it should only be better with great players around him.

Look out for this new Dallas team.

Collison and Mayo are

Collison and Mayo are upgrades over Kidd and Terry at this point in their careers. I love the moves the Mavs have made. They need to add another shooter though.

Winners

Winners - Mavs and Mayo

Losers - the Suns could end up really regretting not grabbing Mayo, particularly if they are not able to get Courtney Lee.

Mavs have a good mix of youth and experience.

Who does Phoenix go after now?

Great signing for Dallas. Shows what a great GM can do when you have decent market like Dallas has. I'm sure that championship in 2011 had something to do with Mayo signing, that and Collison and Kaman already being there.

Question now is, what will happen in Phoenix? Gordon's offer sheet has already been matched so he's headed back to New Orleans. Mayo, the next possible SG, that was rumored going to Phoenix in his place, spurns them and heads off to Dallas. Now who does Phoenix sign at SG? Could it be Rudy Fernandez or Courtney Lee? Both would be very good signings, who do you think goes to the valley of the sun?

Phoenix had better try and

Phoenix had better try and get Lee now, Mayo wouldve been better. Lee is a great 3 point threat but doesnt have the overall scoring ability of Mayo. Lee will come at a cheaper price, but why go cheap now when they had a chance to get Mayo and solidify their lineup?

Phoenix will probably try to

Phoenix will probably try to bring back Shannon Brown, maybe go after Carlos Delfino with his relationship to Scola.

I think that OJ Mayo is a

I think that OJ Mayo is a Jason Terry type. An undersized 2 guard who can shoot, score, and pass some too who can really get
it going when his shot is rolling.

Wow, the Mavs pulled a solid team out of their a$$. As opposed to the BROKElyn Nets who made a bunch of noise but have yet to get Dwight
Howard and who have overpaid 2nd option types. Then the Knicks went after Nash and now might lose Linsanity. They have the Old Three of Kidd, Camby, and Kurt Thomas to go along with Carmelo, Amare, Tyson Chandler, and Shumpert but don't figure to have enough to compete with the Heat, Lakers, Thunder, and Celtics.

The Mavs though have gotten some nice pieces who should fit. Behind OKC and the Nashtime Lakers, the Mavs could be right there with the Spurs, Grizzlies, and Clippers.

I think that phoenix needs to to after Courtney Lee now. He's a little bigger and can shoot, score, drive, and defend. He should be a good fit
next to Dragic.

I still like Fernandez or Lee

I still like Fernandez or Lee better than Delfino or Brown. I would rank them in this order:

  1. Lee
  2. Fernandez
  3. Delfino
  4. Brown

Fernandez signed a contract

Fernandez signed a contract in Spain.

Glad he didn't land with the Suns. Him and Beasley on the wings would have been a bit of a nightmare. Lee compliments the team much better.

Let's see

Kaman over Haywood

Oj Mayo More than a decade younger than Terry

Collison also more than a decade younger than Kidd

Adding Brand as a Solidbench player Mavs could be a big surprise

Yep,lack of defenders is what doomed them last season...It seems like most of the free agent signings have been offensive players........

Man, I thought O.J. Mayo was

Man, I thought O.J. Mayo was one of the reasons why the Bulls were cutting everyone. That's a bummer for me, but I'm starting to like what the re-loaded Mavs have done.

Dallas still has a chance to

Dallas still has a chance to be semi-contender. Their championship cast around Dirk was Chandler, Terry, a washed up Kidd, Marion, Stephenson, Peja, Brian Cardinal, and JJ Barea. That's not overly impressive. The supporting players they have now are decent and could help this team be a top tier west power if Dirk still has another huge year left. I hope OJ can find back his swagger he had during his first 2 years and isn't just a glorified bench piece.

My thought process about the

My thought process about the deal being 2-years is this: Dallas said they'd sign him to this deal. And if he plays amazing this year, he can opt out, and since the Mavs will have cap space again next summer sign him to a bigger deal.

I forgot Dallas got Bernard

I forgot Dallas got Bernard James & Jae Crowder in the Draft..They're 2 of the hardest workers players in all of college bsketball last season...I really like James,he's the perfect compliment to Kamen....
