valentineEvery time Sullinger gets the ball Fsu send three defenders at him. That shows how much they fear what he can do. The problem is Ohio st has other guys who can score
Also no one seems to be talking much about deshaun thomas even though he drops 14ppg in 15min. i brought this up a couple of weeks ago as well. He has the Jordan Hamilton freshman shot disease except he takes better shots and goes to the basket more

Sonny RedParticipantI’m switching between this game and Sixers. The way FSU is playing is making it hard for anyone to look very good, they are basically double teaming Sullinger when he doesn’t have the ball, that is college bball though, its a guards game. Thomas for O State just took a hard fall.

B FreeParticipantSullinger goes up so weak he has no explosion, I noticed it in the UF game too when he got his shot blocked 4 times and a lot of others altered. He also doesn’t have much impact on defense. Don’t get me wrong I live in Fl but am from Ohio and love the Buckeyes but I am slightly dissapointed.

stanford hoopsThats because hes not a explosive player. thats not his game. His game is alot like brands, foot work mixed with power and skill but can and will dunk a couple of times if need be. Hes a good defender as well. not a shot blocker but a good defender. Gibson is 1-4 singlton 1-7

stanford hoopsAlso this is one game. anyone who has watched sullinger so far this year would never put weak in a sentence with his name in any compacity
And Fsu is the number one shot blocking team in the country

JoeWolf1Elton Brand was rocking a 7’5.5” wingspan, he wasn’t a very explosive player, but his wingspan and huge hands made him a very good shot blocker before his injuries in the NBA. Sullinger has a nice wingspan too, but Brand played taller.

stanford hoopsHe didnt play strong in the Florida game?..are you sure you watched that game?..he over powered and out worked the Florida big men to a tune of 26 and 12. it wasnt like he was hitting jumpers and getting fast break points.
What exactly do some of ya’ll expect from a college freshmen who not only got double teamed the whole game but some triple teams. Seriously??? What college freshman big man has dominated while getting double teamed by the number one shot blocking team in country.

OhCanada-ParticipantI agree you people are really embolishin these facts. Sulli may not have the best lift but we all knew that, he played extremely well for a freshman. Also this is a very bad matchup for him, he is not the most explosive player, gets his bread and butter 10 feet witin the basket, and is playing the best shot blocking team in the country. Come on guys hes a freshman hes aloud to struggle a bit. Fact is the Buckeyes won against Florida State despite matchup issues with their suffocating pressure, and Ohio States lack of ballhandling skill. Sullinger still gets dominant post position and knows how to finish.
Also I would like to state Ian Miller maybea one and done prospect I really like his game.

Mr. 19134Participant@midwestbbscout……Thank you I’m reading this thread ready to freak out until you did it for me hahaha…
Like people are talking about Sullinger like he is some scrub or worse Harrison Barnes (just kidding I like Barnes), neways one person even went as far to say "now he is playing against people bigger…"
Um Sullinger is like 270 who is he playing against that is bigger then that?
And teams are playing volleyball with his shot and he is having trouble getting his shot off….Um….Did you know coming into this game that he is shooting 62% from the field?
And Sullinger didn’t get his shot blocked 4 times in the Florida game…OSU spanked Florida and Sullinger dropped 26 one them and went like 10-14 from the field so if he got his shot blocked that many times it was because it was the only way Florida was going to get him to miss. And in that game Sullinger beasted supposed defensive man child Pat Young who is about as physically gifted as it gets for big men.
And did anybody else notice Singleton only had 8 points, half his season average, against Sullinger tonight?
And and by the way Ohio State is now 2-0 in Florida and Sullinger had a double-double in both games looking completely dominant.
@JoeWolf i am super happy somebody else realizes how big Brand is. Brand not only got a 7’6 wingspan but he actually measured out at 6’8.5 in socks!!! Making Elton Brand a legit 6’10 by NBA standards. you got people like Tyrus Thomas and Mike Beasley who are only 6’7 in socks yet they are listed at 6’10. Brand is almost 2 inches taller then them players yet he is looked at like a 6’8 under sized power forward. Can somebody explain that to me?

Mr. 19134ParticipantSullinger is the rarest kind of player…a pure back to the basket scorer…I put Sullinger first on my preseason National Player of the Year Candidate list a few months back. I think Sullinger is only going to get better as the year goes on and his rebouding numbers should spike up to over ten as he plays in more close games and gets more minutes….By the way on that same list I had Kemba Walker, Perry Jones, and Corey Stokes in my top ten. Stokes was a reach I knew it but Walker is looking like a good return investment. And Jones is another frosh who is only going to get better as the year goes on and he plays in bigger games.
I am still torn on who I think is the better pro prospect out of Kanter and Sullinger tho. They seem like to me virtually the same player the only difference being Kanter is 6’10 giving him enough legitimate height to play center and he completely dominated the whole US. team at the Nike Hoop Summit including Sullinger.
Sullinger seems like the safer bet and the more sure fire productive player tho.
Either way i get mad, like tonight, every time the Sixers win a game. It would look extremely nice for them to get Sullinger and finally pair him with Turner.

JNixonParticipantChris Singleton has nice length and it makes him a very good defender at this level. He’s getting better in regards to his skill set, but he still has a ways to go. I think he’ll continue to develop though, he has the potential to be a James Posey-type.

Im Your FatherParticipantMr. 1934, I have always wondered that about Brand. I believe he’s actually listed as being shorter than his actual height in socks. Plus, for some reason they normally give people with huge wingspans an extra inch or two, and yet Brand doesn’t get one. People call him undersized all the time, but he really isn’t at all.

Im Your FatherParticipantMr. 1934, I have always wondered that about Brand. I believe he’s actually listed as being shorter than his actual height in socks. Plus, for some reason they normally give people with huge wingspans an extra inch or two, and yet Brand doesn’t get one. People call him undersized all the time, but he really isn’t at all.

stanford hoopsBrand is actually shorter then what he’s listed at. He used to work out with my brother when he would come back from overseas during the off season. Brand is 6’9 max with shoes one. His arms are soooo damn long though
As far as sullinger i wonder when people will stop saying someone wont do this or that because of there height when a player is very skilled. Skilled guys find ways to score against taller guys plus how many Power forwards play great defense int he NBA? How many actually play real good Defense? There are no K.G, Duncan defenders right now. I like gasol but he’s not the greatest at man to man defense and He’s the top pf in the NBA. Dirk? How many centers Are top defenders or shot blockers?..Does D.Blair get many of his shots blocked? Chuck Hayes?..I think it gets over hyped about a guy who some may consider undersized wont be able to finish in the NBA.
