MKG is working out with Mark Price to improve his jumper.
Hakeen is giving Dwight some lessons.
I assume Brandon Knight is working out with Billups.
Jazz bigs working out with Karl Malone
Tim Duncan is apparently having an unofficial training camp. I know Roy Hibbert is going to work out with him again.
I heard Drummond was working out with Hakeem too, but that was before he was hired by the Rockets so it might not be happening anymore.
I heard the same thing but wasn't 100% sure if it was true. I think I heard it about two months ago before Dwight signed with houston, so he might have already had some time with The Dream.
Apparently Hakeem charges quite a bit. He charged Amare $100k for two weeks.
what ever drummond does it has to hlp him improve his foul shot, if he can shoot 65 to 70% he will be twice as good as last year because he wont have to worry about finishing before he gets fouled, the pistons will be comfortable with him playing at the end of games. He shot 37% from the free throw line, anybody who has played freshmen basketball in high school can do that. I just think that will help his confidence in the way he plays because he flat out bricked the first 2 foul shots off the the side of the rim in the blue white game
Wasn't Shaq supposed to be doing something with Cousins?
Shaq stated he wanted too but - according to Cousins - Shaq has not contacted him since that statement.
I'll like to see the development of Jimmy Butler, heard he been Working out with Scottie Pippen.
Damian Lillard said that he will work with Gary Payton this offseason on Thursday.
"I’m sure I will. The summer is not even close to being over," Lillard said. "Hopefully, we will." This is a bit of an update since the two were expected to work together since May. As great as Lillard was, his defense could use some work. Among all NBA guards playing at least 30 minutes per game, Lillard had the eighth-worst defensive rating. This news should not have any negative impact on Lillard's outlook for his second season.
I think there is too much noise about those workouts with former superstars.
DO you really think working out 2/3 weeks with Olajuwon will help D12 or Drummond to learn 20 years of experience / instincts, techniques and NATURAL GIFTS (agility, strength, wingspan...) ? Same thing for Shaq and Cousins or Pippen and Butler.
The progress happens when things you've learned stop being learnings and become instincts... and you can't learn that in 2/3 weeks or even 1/2 months. You need repetition... again and again and again. You need full years and full summers of hard working (more than 2 hours a day) with a similar kind of player (or players) working on specific areas of the game (FT, 3pts, post moves...).
I don't think we should expect big changes from those players except if they commit for the whole year (maybe easier for Knight with Billups). I don't expect ANY change from d12 game and weeknesses (FT, bball overall IQ, touch) cause I don't think Olajuwon and him share the same kind of body and feel for the game.
A note about Karl Malone working out with the Jazz bigs, Favors has already worked out with Malone a few time and the reports are positive, Kanter should be cleared to work out in a week or two (shoulder rehab) and possibly Gobert will be back to work out too. Malone just turned 50 and still works out hard everyday, a reporter called him to talk about his new gig with the Jazz and he said call me back in 3 hrs after I finish my workout. Amazing, he always worked harder than anyone else at being in shape, running, lifting , shooting etc and if he can instill that work ethic in Favors, Kanter and Gobert if will make a big difference in their development.
Ibaka was planning to workout with Hakeem last summer but couldn't fit it around the Olympics. It's likely that happens sometime this summer.
