The Official player comparison thread

There have been many threads asking for comparisons of players. From 17 year old prospects from Europe to seniors in college. I like them, because i like reading peoples different opinions on players games. So this is a thread where you can give or ask for an opinion on any players game.

Get to it.

Alec Burks has been getting a

Alec Burks has been getting a lot of love this past year, but I'm going to say, in my opinion, that his player comparison is another CU player from a few years ago and thats Richard Roby. I think as the season progresses Burks' stock will drop. He has very good height and athleticism, much like Roby, and like Roby after an impressive freshman year is getting 1st round buzz. He'd be wise to leave after this year, unlike Roby who stayed for 4 and went undrafted after not improving much. I just feel Burks is one of those players who is ready enough and on a bad team that he can put up big numbers, but after another poor CU season ( I do think they'll be a little better, but maybe flirt with an NIT birth) and on a team where Higgins is still the better players, by the end of next season his potential won't seem so great and he'll be a 2nd rounder like Roby would have been after his Soph year. I think they are very similar in their games, although Roby was a better shooter, their school and their fates as prospects.

My guess...

Harrison Barnes - Grant Hill
Kyrie Irving - Chris Paul
Enes Kanter - Al Jefferson
Jared Sullinger - Elton Brand
Perry Jones - Anthony Randolph
CJ Leslie - Thad Young
Cory Joseph - Jerryl Bayless
Donatas Motiejunas - Andrea Bargnani with less range
Terrence Jones - Boris Diaw
Brandon Knight - Jason Terry

What would be a good one for Jan Vesely? He's better D than Yi and probably faster and more athletic than Jonas Jerebko, so I didn't like those comparisons.

Jonas Valanciunas

Jonas Valanciunas - Andris Biedrins with better offensive potential

I used to think Jan Vesely can be like Andrei Kirilenko, but not really sure if he can record crazy steals and blocks like AK47 at his best.

I think he can atleast be

I think he can atleast be close to those numbers, it's a good comparison but i think vesely is more athletic than kirilenko and more of a offensive player.

How about...

Hassan Whiteside = Black Chris Anderson ("Birdman" for anyone who doesn't recognize the name)

Karl Malone = The Chuck Norris of Basketball

kobyz, Tom Chambers was an

kobyz, Tom Chambers was an explosive athlete, something Donatas Montiejunas is not. He would fly down the lane and dunk on you. Montiejunas plays like a European big man, not an American high flyer like Chambers,

If those comparisons are real, this draft is the best ever by far.

@uri1411

Those comparisons don't mean that this draft would be the best ever becuase when people compare people to others, that doesn't they amean that they think re going to be as good as them, it just means they have similar play styles.

I didnt thought that for real, i meant they are not good. and imo comparisons should be matched to the potential of the players.

I don't care about points,

I don't care about points, but Montiejunas plays nothing like Chambers, and If you aren't that familiar with Chamber's game here is some footage, I know mixtapes don't tell the whole story, but to compare Chambers to a guy like Montiejunas who is most often compared to a soft PF/C like Bargnani just doesn't makes sense, dock me points, but at least tell my why you think that way.

Barnes

I don't really like the Grant Hill comparison. Barnes is a much better jump shooter, but not as elite an athlete, and not as good a ball handler or passer. Barnes is strong in both those areas, but I don't ever see him playing quite the same point forward role.
