So I’m making this thread in hopes of getting some of the best basketball minds on the site to weigh in on their thoughts for the day’s fantasy action.

For those of you who don’t know what Daily Fantasy Sports is, well it’s basically exactly what the title says! The set-up of DFS on most sites (please google ‘daily fantasy sports’ to find out what the best sites are; I don’t want to get in trouble for posting links or naming names lol) is that you get a certain amount of roster spots to fill and a salary cap. Each player is then given a price by the site’s algorithm and you try to make the best roster that you can for that day. I’ll give an example:

So you’ve got to fill PG, SG, SF, PF, C, C, Guard, Forward, Utility and you are given a $65,000 salary cap. So a guy like LeBron might cost $10,400, while an unproven D-Rose is only $8,500 and the Gerald Green’s of the world are $4,500.

The scoring on most sites is something like 1 point per point scored, 1.2 points per rebound, 1.5 points for an assist, 2 points for blocks and steals, etc.

The way that DFS sites work is that you can play a head-to-head matchup, league, tournament, or a couple of other styles of play. You can play for free or for money (Check the legality in your state. It’s ok in most because you aren’t betting on the actual outcome of the game, but some states still don’t allow it.) For an example, a site might run a 5,000 person entry at $2 per entry, unlimited entries. The prize pool would be a total of $9,000. Why is that when 5,000 x $2 = $10,000? Because the sites take a percentage of the entry fees (in this example 10%) in order to generate revenue.

So, after a lot of typing I hope this reaches some people and we get some DFBasketball thoughts flowing on here!
