Blazers luck

Feel bad for B-Roy and Oden, but you gotta feel a little bad for the Blazers too. One retires and one very well might.

This man is dead for

This man is dead for basketball unfortunately... let's see the truth.

The blazers should think to call joel freeland and make him come, if they still got his rights.

Man, too bad. Another promising career being halted by injuries. I really want him to get everything right and come back and prove everyone wrong.

"Oden's setback is with a

"Oden's setback is with a non-weight bearing ligament. He has no symptoms and doesn't feel restricted, but there is a concern w/ the fragility"

Not sure what that means? Sounds like a safety precaution, but some guys just CAN'T catch a break man...

What the F*CK man!!! This kid just can NOT catch a break.

What happened now? I mean, I want to know the details of this set back? It's a "non-weight bearing ligament"? I don't know what that is...

I mean, where the F did this come from??? The progress has been nothing, but positive!!! This sh*t is wierd and it sucks.

I said this in an earier

I said this in an earier post. The Trailblazers need to to do a complete 360 and re-evaluate their entire medical staff and training staff. Too many players from this franchise are getting career-threatening injuries. SO much so, now it has cost the current roster two building blocks that were meant to be a foundation for this team. Just imagine a Portland Big 3 w/ a healthy Roy & Oden and Aldridge....Scary! What could've been smh.

This is nuts... I sware I

This is nuts... I sware I checked up on Oden's status just earlier today to see how his doctor's appointment went on Thu. I've been following his progress all summer through people I know here in Indy and in LA. I've even ran into him a couple of times and he looked GREAT. All I've heard and read was good news and how he'd been cleared to cut, pivot, shoot, etc, etc. I sign off the computer.

Get back on a few hours later and Oden is out for the season because of a setback.

I mean, wtf? Did he suffer a setback in the last three hours? This sucks.

This dude gets the most wierd injuries. He's just not meant to play basketball man. It sucks. Because I think he was the best high school player I've ever seen.

From what I can tell a

From what I can tell a "non-weight bearing limament" is basically a ligament that we aren't dependent on to walk or stand, so it may seem like everything is fine, but there might be somthing screwed up inside. But I'm not a doctor, so I'm just guessing.

I mean, what ligament is that

I mean, what ligament is that though? ACL, LCL, MCL, PCL? Patella tendon? I mean, what is it? Your knee only has so many ligaments.

This is crazy... I mean, it's not torn. Why can't he just strengthen it? I don't get it... I'd fire that Portland medical staff and everybody associated with them. This is ridiculous. I do NOT think he has been given the right advice. Poor kid (he's rich, but still).

I mean, they don't even tell us what knee it is. Is it the other knee due to carrying too much of a load?

Oden

That's what he gets for being 64 and trying to play basketball. At least he got his 1 year deal.

Why is everyone so quick to

Why is everyone so quick to blame the portland training staff. Maybe you guys are unaware of the pre-existing injuries that both Roy and Oden had suffered IN HIGHSCHOOL. Thats right it Oden has had bad knees since his highschool days in indiana and Roy's knee issues were known when portalnd drafted him. I suppose the orginization believed it was worth the risk (Oden over Durant Still puzzles me). The fact of the matter is both Oden and Roy were already predisposed to injuries before the NBA, so it's hard to blame a training staff that just played the cards they were dealt.

OMAR

I was aware of this as well as the Portland staff was when they drafted both Roy and Oden. They took the risk in drafting the two and should've prepared to help these guys have long-lasting careers. I just feel the staff didn't do as much as they should've. That's all.

I don't know

I don't know but the training staff of Portland are really poor in dealing with injuries... I mean Brandon Roy for one, I mean they let him play despite the fact that his knees are banged up (forgot what season that was)... Greg Oden having had to deal with multiple surgeries... I don't want to blame them fully on the Blazers injury situations but they have handled it badly as it is... SMH

@OMARtheLEGEND That's

@OMARtheLEGEND

That's complete non-sense. Oden NEVER had any knee injuries in high school. He NEVER missed a game or practice during his prep career.

His first injury was the wrist injury which he suffered during a hard dunk during the McDonald's All-American Game. His first game missed in his life was when the season started at Ohio State.

And Oden has NOT signed his deal yet for those of you thinking he lied about his injuries just to get a deal signed.

Oden had a few injuries in

Oden had a few injuries in HS, but they were never involved with the knee. He had wrist surgery as an incoming freshman at Ohio St., and hip surgery in 6th grade, which made his body unproportional (one leg longer than the other).

http://nba-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssp ... 4/25906538

In sixth grade, Oden underwent surgery to repair his hip . Following the surgery, one leg was then longer than the other, resulting in his unusual gait which is often misstaken for a limp.

"That was a surprise,'' Oden remembers. "I limped for months, and my friends would always tell me to 'suck it up Greg', but one day I finally went to the doctor to check it out. My mom had to work that day, so I got an X-ray and took the bus home. When I got off the bus, I saw my mom driving around. She had gotten the results of the X-rays and picked me up and took me back to the hospital. We had the surgery that day.''

As Oden describes it, the bone that attaches his leg to his hip "was hanging on for dear life".

"That's why I had to have the surgery that day, because nobody knew how much longer it was going to hold on,'' Oden said.

@IndianaBasketball I believe

@IndianaBasketball

I believe he had hip surgery in the sixth grade, which is a few years before he was selected as an all-American.

As a result he has a limp, which could also contribute to his knee injuries because of the forced pressure on his other leg

Not to mention Bill Walton. At least Walton managed to get them a chanpionship before foot and ankle injuries wrecked his career.

@OMARtheLEGEND Everyone knows

@OMARtheLEGEND

Everyone knows Oden had hip surgery back in 6th grade, which caused one leg to be longer than the other. I've posted that on this site multiple times and noted that he wears a special insole. That's not what you wrote.

You wrote he was injured in high school and that he already had bad knees, which is false. He never suffered a knee injury in high school. He was never injured (I mean, maybe an sprained ankle, but everybody gets little injuries) in high school until the wrist injury and never missed a game until Ohio State. He never missed a game or practice during his entire prep career.

Having hip surgery doesn't cause bad knees. IF anything it causes a bad back, which was a concern about Oden during his combine medical. Portland mentioned that he was at risk of a bad back if he didn't get an insole to off-set the inbalance.

The kid is clearly injury proned and has some of the worst luck, but let's not spread falseness just because you're not a fan and think Durant should've went first.
