Rebounds and defends like a MF. There’s a reason he’s called "The Bosnian Bear".

His defensive ability was pretty damn surprising because he’s a bit of a bull in a china shop.  I’ll be interested to see if he can maintain that impact over longer stretches of play.

But yeah, he’s strong as hell.  Hasn’t even had an offseason of NBA weight training either.  Unlike some guys who are naturally big and strong, he knows it and plays like it.  Very physical but not plodding.  He’s got surprising mobility. Has good hands too.  Needs a lot of refinement offensively but I think the tools and mentality are there.  He’s clearly well-versed in PnR play, but otherwise can be a bit wild, forcing shots from the post.  Has solid touch from the line (~70% overseas) so there’s hope that he’ll develop a jumper unlike some of these no-hope Cs around the league.  He was an absolute foul drawing machine overseas and I think that aspect of his game will eventually translate.

Just look at the impact Trisian Thompson had this year for the Cavs. There is no reason that Nurkic can’t have the same effect THIS YEAR.

He knows how to position himself for Rebounds,

He did Averaged 6.92pts, 6rebs, 1.1 blocks for 17.32mins only, his per 36 mins stats will be 14pts 12rebs and 1.1 Blks, thats pretty amazing for a young center,

    As a rookie

    Andre Drummond – 7.9pts 7.6reb 1.6 blks 20min per Game

    Nikola Vucivec – 5.5pts 4.8reb 0.7 blks 15min per Game

    Dirk Nowitzki – 8.2ptss 3.4reb 0.6 blks 20min per Game

    Nikola Pekovic – 5.5pts 3reb 0.5blks 13min per Game

Great hands, dancer’s feet and mean attitude.

If he can foul less he’ll be great. Malone is the perfect coach for him too, look what he did for Cousins.

Many overseas picks take years, to arrive in the NBA or to become a starter, he shocked many by doing it right away.  Nuggets were trying to use three centers, now Nurkic can get most of the minutes.  Blocks, steals, rebounds, inside scoring, he already does a lot.  Free throws are not bad for a center too.

Denver should increase his playing time a lot, maybe 30 minutes a game.  He will do some exciting things, maybe get them some wins, but Denver will also have some draft picks soon to put around him.  Nurkic, rookie Mudiay, healthy Gallinari, and a year from now maybe three new players from the first round, Denver will have improved.

For Nurkic, he is quick for someone so large, with his hands and his feet.  He is like Todd MacCulloch but with the speed and agility of Kenyon Martin.  Maybe not that mobile, but like Martin he plays in the paint and can get steals.

If someone is only as good as his last game, Nurkic had 17 points against the Warriors.

He is young and has great natural size. He also has a solid motor and natural tools to become a top 10 center in the league. Not many true 7 footers comin to the L with his skill set.

With the nuggets rebuilding, his name will be obscure.

I’m a big fan of his new teammate and fellow center too. Nikola Jokic. Shoots threes, has good size and strength, can dribble drive, and is an outstanding passer.

Some Kelly Olynyk to that kid.
