The Splash DocParticipantNuggets get- Marcus Thorton, Marco Belinelli, Quincy Pondexter, David West(expiring deal),Peja Stojakovic(expiring deal),Willie Green(expiring 3 mil),Jason Smith and 2 future 1st
Hornets get- Carmelo Anthony, JR Smith, Nene and Renaldo Balkman
why??????
Nuggets get- 2 young wings in Thorton and Pondexter they trade Nene’s player option which he will pick up for West’s expiring deal plus Peja’s expiring deal and Green’s expiring 3 mil. A trade asset in Belinelli and 2 future 1st.
Contracts coming off the books for Denver- Billups 8mil(4mil clause), K-Mart-16mil,Peja-14mil, Green- 3mil,West-9mil, Belinelli(3mil qualifying offer)Smith(3mil qualifying offer. Thats 56mil off the books leaving- about 22mil to start next year plus 2 1st rounders and CAP room.
Hornets they get core pieces in Anthony, Smith and Nene they want CAP relief but with ticket sales and merchandise plus advertisement thye’d be elite again with this line up- Paul-Ariza-Anthony-Nene-Okafor bench Smith-Pargo-Gary-Boateng. They’d attract the MLE guys and would bring the excitement back to New Orleans
call me biased or whatever you want this is a great deal and Denver gets a lot in return and its not like NOH becomes the clear favorite out West.

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantThat’s not a great deal talent wise. Denver doesn’t get alot of talent back. The only thing that Denver really gets back is Thornton, 2 1st round picks (20 or lower) and a potential bench player in Pondexter.

Charlie SheenParticipantIt’d be hard for Denver to say no to that CAP relief, 2 young assets and future 1st rounders which is exactly what they want. This is the best deal I’ve seen so far better than mine anyway NOH should try it bringing back JR who isnt as immature as he was in NOH but still is immature Nene makes them bigger inside since they’ve been undersized for a while now Ariza can play the Artest role I like it really do can you guys imagine
Paul-Fisher
Ariza-Bryant
Anthony-Artest
Nene-Gasol
Okafor-Bynum
Smith-Odom
Pargo-Blake
NOH would need a back up BIG though

Charlie SheenParticipantPondexter can be a hit or miss IMO 60-40 chance of being a solid player he was in college for 4 years and is a solid guy not a star player but a solid starter maybe 14-17ppg at best

The Splash DocParticipantWhat kind of deal can Denver really get they dont have many options I see that as a great option and it may be that or let Carmelo just walk so what would you choose I’d take Thorton, Pondexter 2 1st and CAP relief before I jus let a guy walk out on me

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWell, There are a couple teams
New York ( Now that they have a rumored first rounder to give to DEN)
Houston
Philadelphia
Those 3 teams could provide picks AND better talent then that NO deal.

The Splash DocParticipantI wanna se him go to NYC now but I’d wait til 2011 FA because the talent they have now plus him would be better than giving up what they have now for Carmelo
as for Houston or Philly is unlikely 1 because Houston dcant assure Melo Yao will be backto his od self and 2 Philly is in rebuild mode and Melo wont go to a rebuilding team by himself
His main option should be
1. New York- with STAT and ?CP3? via FA
2. LAC- with ?CP3? and BG and EG via FA
3. Chicago- with D.Rose, Booz and Noah via FA
4. New Orleans- with CP3 via trade
5. Washington- with Wall, Agent-9, Blatche and McGee

llperezmr knick, you forgot maybe the best player denver would get in david west. West, thornton and pondexter are all solid. Add in 2 picks and a whole bunch of cap relief, not bad. BUt im just not sure new orleans should look to break it up. Every starter is under 30 and paul so far seems to be acting like he wants to be there. If thats truly the case, then i dont see the reason to blow it up.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI doubt Denver would agree to that even though they would be saving a lot of money if they did. Pondexter and Thornton do not nearly provide the talent nor do they have the talent that Melo has. I’m betting money that Denver is looking for a recent top 5 pick as well as other future draft picks as well as an expiring contract for Melo. (Why do you think New Jersey offered Derrick Favors over Terrance Williams?)
