couch gmParticipantOn a day with so many trades i feel Denver made two that have flown under the radar but are both truly terrible. First they trade a late first round pick for a pick in the 40s pretty much straight up (cash for a pick means nada every team should be chasing assets). I actually like Green but we should have got more back.
This pick doesnt even come close to the skooling Denver got from the Grizz. Denver traded away a young, starting centre whose worth around 7 wins a season for an older, injury prone guy who hasnt been bood for 2 years and gets paid more! Denver did get pick 55bto sweeten the deal tho lol. So in short denver traded away two 7 footers, one a proven NBA starter, the other wih pro experience abroad for a tiny bit of cash, picks 55 and 46 and Darrell freakin Arthur!0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 7:52am #808614
ItsRainingNegsParticipantI forgot they didn’t keep Gobert. I thought they should have picked Ricky Ledo. They needed a shooting guard and he could have developed into a go-to guy with that lineup. Actually if he developed right they would be championship contenders every year.

CavFanPRParticipantThey should’ve kept Gobert I have a feeling he’s gonna turn out pretty nice especially for the range he got picked on.

SiggyParticipantI think it’s obvious that Denver’s trying to save some money. Evn with Iguodala leaving, they still have solid depth. What was a position of need? Back up PF? Well, they got Arthur.
Dealing Koufos was puzzling though. His game is solid, but I think with the new coaching regime, they’re all in on seeing if JaVale is worth the money they paid him. They have to re-sign Mozgov now though.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/28/2013 - 8:07am #808650

couch gmParticipantArthur is on a bigger contrat than Koufos so we lose money on this deal. We now have Faried, Randolph, Gallo, Chandler and Arthur who can play the 4 and only McGee under contrat at the 5. Prior to that we had the same 4s plus Koufos and more salary space. Koufos contract may be the best in the league hes worth 7 wins at only 3 mil a year.

SiggyParticipantThe difference in contracts is negligible. Who knows what the new coaches philosophy will be? Maybe they’ll look to play more traditional lineups and less small ball, meaning less Gallo and Chandler at the 4.
In any case, the Koufos deal signals that McGee is their guy. They paid him the big money to be a starter, now he’ll be playing starter’s minutes. McGee was one of the bigger points of contention that the Nuggets had with Karl. They gave JaVale the big contract, yet Karl would only play him 18 mpg. They want more return on their investment. Clearing Koufos paves the way for that.

NCarmean18ParticipantI am a fellow Nuggets fan, and I am not too terribly upset with this draft like you are. I mean, we traded Rudy Gobert for Erick Green and cash. Gobert needs a solid 3 years to improve his game, and he reminds me already of a less athletic JaVale McGee. I am not too angry about that trade. I don’t know if Green will make the team or not, but if so, he is a solid 3rd point guard who can come in during blowouts and put up some points. My guess is that they will send him to the D-League so that he can work on his point skills, and allow him to light up the competition down there.
As far as the Koufos for Darrell Arthur and Joffrey Lauvergne trade, I liked it as well. Sure, Koufos was our starting center last year and he played good basketball, he is more suited as a center who can play off of the bench for about 16-18 minutes per game. We payed JaVale McGee a ton of money, and we need to utilize what we can out of him. Denver still loves Timofey Mozgov, and they sent out a qualifying offer to him, because they feel as though with the combination of his skill and McGee’s athleticism, they could have a dominate tandem at the center spot. We also needed a backup power forward, and Darrell Arthur played very good basketball for the Grizzlies over the past two seasons.
We surely didn’t win this draft, but with as much depth as the team already has under contract, we surely didn’t lose this draft either.

ndq1125ParticipantYou clearly stop watching the playoffs after the Nuggets lost. The Grizzlies will make KK the best back up big in the league. DA was good for the grizz 2 years ago not for the passed two years. DA is more likely to get hurt and miss part of the season than he is likely to be a solid back up for you guys.

PhogifyParticipantVery nice pickup for them, I’m not sure why you would be disappointed in the Nuggets acquiring him. He will be an immediate impact player for the Nuggets. He was great for the Grizz in the 2010-2011 season.
