Not trying to be racist but...

Okay I'm not trying to be racist, but in high school and college you can have great american born white players, but for whatever reason it doesn't translate into great NBA success for the same group of guys. Some great college players like JJ Redick and Adam Morrison were even ,dare I say, the best players in the NCAA when they were the top of their game. I would even go back to Christian Latiener,Charokee Parks, Big Country Bryant Reeves, Shawn Bradley, Keith Van Horne and pretty much everyone at Duke. lol. All had great fire in college that burnt out in the pros.

Now on the other hand we have some all star European guys, Dirk, AK-47 and Nash (canada but you get the picture) that come and tear the competition up. Is it the coaching? the bring up? What gives?

Will any of todays american white college players follow the same trend. Tyler Hansbrough, Luke Harangody. Klye Singler, Cole Aldrich or BJ Mullens are gonna be the kind of players I named at the top or more like the Larry Bird, John Stockon, Kevin Mchale and Bill Laimbeer?

JJ/A-Mo were great

JJ/A-Mo were great shooters.... too soft to be stars in the league but great at the college level. Mullens should be a good pro eventually.... but im afraid there will never be another Larry legend, at least not for a long time.

Umm....

Tyler Hansbrough and Luke Harangody aren't going to be productive in the NBA at all because their height, lack of quickness, and lack of athleticism. There's hope for Kyle Singler, Cole Aldrich, and BJ Mullens though. My reasons for saying that, is because Kyle Singler reminds me a bit of Matt Harping, he may not be the quickest player, but he has a lot of toughness to him, which can't be teached, he can post smaller players in the paint, he rebounds and hustles, he got decent handle, and he can hit threes. Cole Aldrich will be a solid big man in the league for years to come, he may be a little undersized for the center position, at 6'10, but he is very fundamentally sound and has a NCAA championship under his belt, so he's a winner. BJ Mullens can go either two ways, become a good or even a All-Star type of player, or become the next Kwame Brown. Physically, Mullens has the description of a center that GMs drool over, he's over 7'0, is 250 pounds, with a body that has not filled out yet, has big hands, has a long wingspan, and has tons of athleticism. Now, it's up to him and whatever team he gets drafted by, to help him develop into the type of player many see him as, a franchise player. The Phoneix Suns hired well known big man coach, Clifford Ray, to develop Amare Stoudemire, when he first came into the league, so did the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard, until now they have Patrick Ewing helping him out. Andrew Bynum has Kareem working with him. Also Amare and Dwight Howard, both had Bo Outlaw, a long time veteran in the league, on their respective teams, to guide them a long the way, earlier in their careers. Josh Smith had Kevin Willis guiding him, and the 2008 # 1 pick, Derrick Rose, has Lindsey Hunter helping him along the way now. Mullens is going to need a big man coach, a veteran big man or two to guide him, and a supportive coach that will let him play through his mistakes, rather than taking him out the game when he makes a mistake or plays bad, he will lose confidence that way.

Tyler Hansbrough

I think Tyler Hansbrough will be a solid defender and garbage man on a very good NBA team ( like the Spurs or Lakers ) but he will never score more than single digits , just not enough of a skill set and far too mechanical, also undersized at the power forward. His desire and will to compete will cary him into the league out of UNC where he just may be a 10 year vet at the end of the day !

Athleticism alone doesnt make a goo BKB player, but Chase Athleticism is simple off charts, JJ and morrison may not jump half of him. Hey may be not a superstar in the making but is a white guy who can play and.. jump

oh yeah chase budinger

i forgot about Chase Budinger. He was great his freshman year but with the bottom falling out of the Arizona basketball program I lost track of him. But out of all the players I did mention, I think he has the brightest NBA future. Only thing is Chase reminds me of Chris Andersen that I think is back in Denver. That's probably as far as I would go with him though. But good catch shipargos.

Chase Budinger reminds you if Chris Anderson?

Chris Anderson and Chase Budinger has two different games and play two different positions. Anderson is a center, that is a high energy player type of player, that blocks a lot of shots and grabs boards, while Budinger is a small forward/shooting guard, that is a solid all round player. Budinger reminds me of a young Eric Piatkowski. Piatkowski in his hay days, had plenty of hops, but as he got older, he became a pure shooter, Budinger has both hops and a sweet shooting stroke now, so I think he'll have a better career.

Rubio, Harangody, K-Love

Ricky Rubio is from Spain, he's kind of white. If Danilo and Bargnani are white than so is Rubio. When has a white guy ever broke the 10 second mark in the 100M? Never, it seems that african people (US, Jamaica, Africa) have far superior ahtleticism because of their genetics. If you're going to play in the League and have success and have average to below average quickness and athleticism you better be in the top five in Court Awarness and Basketball IQ, like Larry Legend. Morrison, Redick, and Hansbrough just don't have a great feel for the game. I believe that Harangody does though, maybe not top five, but above average, plus he's got developing range. K-Love is another one of these guys that have sub-par quickness and athleticism, but has a great feel for the game. He really is another version of Wes Unseld. I'm sure most of you have not had the pleasure to watch a Wolves game, but this kid can play. I can't believe that Gasol made the Rookie Team. He may block a shot or two every now and then, but this dude is absolute garbage on defense in the low post. Not saying that Love is the greatest on defense in the low block, but he at least makes his man work for it. He's got a mixture of hustle and intelligence, not a bad combo of attributes to have, kind of sounds like Larry Legend. McHale made the correct move by trading Mayo, if Mike Miller was hot right now there wouldn't be a single doubt in any Wolves fans mind that he made the right move. Memphis can keep their ballhog until he leaves for the bright lights of LA or New York. We'll keep the next Larry Bird/Kevin McHale for the next fifteen years. Everybody that follows basketball knows how much of an idiot Michael Heisley is. Complete moron. Bring fans in, but live in mediocrity forever. Now if we could only take the Roy trade back!! Foye is not bad though, just not an All-Star, ever. Too many great PGs in the West.

nba is built on quickness, athleticism, and wow factor

Every GM wants a player to not just win games but fill the seats, for players such as redick, and morrison to do that they would have to score on consistent basis and be intregral part of team, however if they can't score againt the long armed, quick footed guards, and forwards of the nba or defend them they will be relegated to provide relief shooting when starters are off the court. But players that are less skilled but are super athletic with seat filling potential will get more playing time since they have wow-factor and can cover their athletic counterpart micheal pietrus and shannon brown for example. nba is tough for players who model their game after larry birds and john stocktons, most teams want every player to be super athletic and highly skilled but prefer the athleticism since they feel skills come with age.

Blanco

I just feel like you are a complete bias individual... If Mayo doesn't shoot they can't win (they still don't win LOL). I like K Love to a certain pt. but I will say he surprised me with his rebounding ability. But back to you Blanco what does Mike Beasley have to do with this convo or even the point you were making? Can we say HATER? He likes to have fun. But he knows how to play ball, its the easy part for him (so how is he an idiot?) If Mike have more minutes he would by far have a better season (I believe maybe ROY) so what are you trying to say by mentioning him? In high school, BEASTLY dominated the Great White Hype... Just be cool and you better Watch What You Say!!! LOL...

tuck243, your funny, I wrote Michael Heisley, the Grizzlies owner! Not Beasley! Before you jump down somebody's throat, take a moment, breathe, and learn to read english. Shoot, at the same time educate yourself with some basketball knowledge too. I know you've posted some comments on this site that make you look like one of those fans that read box scores and stat lines and don't actually watch games. Instead of posting on this site go watch a basketball game, gain some basketball knowledge and then come back and maybe somebody on this site will take you seriously. Man, your a complete spaz, I pray that you don't beat your animals, wife and kids, or whomever you consider to be a loved one because of your anger. Seriously, take a pill, meditate, get threapy, or something because we don't need another spaz like you in the world. For watching what I say, I will say whatever I want to you, because your lack of intellect will always be something to poke fun at. tuck243, thank you for consistently making me laugh by your brainless, ignorant, uneducated comments. Watch the anger too buddy! Nobody likes a spaz.

Umm

I agree with Dons first comment about Kyle Singler. He is also a European type player who can play all over the court. If you are white and can play european style then u can be productive in the league.
