Bryant24ParticipantI live in North Carolina but im a unc fan but tonight we lost to CHARLESTON COUGARS of all teams we lost in overtime by three ed davis can be a force in the paint but he needs post move and learn how to use his right hand tyler zeller has no foot speed at all everybody gets pass him and sometimes he look like the best player then other times he look like he should be in the wnba he plays so soft strickland is stuck at point guard which he is not a point guard he is a scorer not a distrubitor the score was 82 to 79. Thompson is our best scorer but he dont like to pass at all he Davis had a double double 19 and 11

JNixonParticipantCollege of Charleston played very good and this had the feel of a mid-major upsetting a top seed in the tourny. College of Charleston had some athletic players out there too…The dude that tied the game to force overtime was a monster this game…

quincey hodgesi think people forget that carolina lost so many good players and are young. i have no doubt they will be alot better by the end of the year although they wont be as good as the elite teams

D7H7NParticipantUNC was bound to be upset in at least one game this season

RUDEBOYYeah, they’re a young team that lost alot of veterans..But they’re still a top 10 team..Losing to number 2 Texas then to a mid major team like College of Charleston my be a blessing in disguise..it’ll make them more hungry and they’ll also want to prove that beatdown Texas gave them..Was a result of a young team trying to find their chemistry…If they can find some 3 point shooters..Something u really need during the ncaa tournament..And better point guard play..They’re going to be dangerous..They have a great coach, great tradition and the talent to sneak into the final 4..its just a matter of putting it all together

uncfan011Participantit was a bad loss, a real bad loss, but my expectations for this team isnt the final 4 or maybe even the elite 8.. very young team.. have potential and anything can happen but not sure the heels can compete with the top teams.. I just hope we beat Dook haha

Chicago1980ParticipantUNC is not that good this year they lost all of their best players last year and ginyard is out too and they are a real young team i know they reload every year but they havent really learned to play together yet from the games that I have seen this year. Also their guard play isnt that great they ususally have pretty good guards this year they really dont their big men are solid but the guards not that good. They also have no consistent outside shooting. I really dont get why they were still in the top 10 with 3 losses I know they played a tough non conference schedule but they havent won any of the big games they lost to texas, kentucky, and syracuse.

ncballerI think the problem with UNC is that outside of Davis there really is no superstar. Deon Thompson is softer than tissue paper and has no basketball IQ. Will Graves is a great shooter but also has no basketball IQ. The freshman look good and have the potential for stardom but they aren’t there yet. Zeller can score but is a horrendous defender. Larry Drew is so inconsistant. He looks like DJ Augustin one night then Quentin Thomas the next. The post entry passes are terrible. The team is in trouble when John Henson is the second best passer on the team. Outside of Strickland and McDonald there is really no one who can create their own shot. Ginyard’s best ball has been in the past and doesn’t look the same after his injury last season.
That being said when everything is clicking they are a really good team. I have been really impressed with Leslie McDonald the past few games and Henson is getting more comfortable. When Drew is hitting from outside this team is very dangerous, and when everyone plays their role the team is very good. Once they put together a game for 40 minutes I think they can be an elite 8 team.

quincey hodgeswow thmpson no basketball iq? thats one thing nba scouts praised him about all summer and coaches. hes not as physically talented or athletic and davis but hes not slouch either. there are too many unreal expectations for unc. they lost alot so dont expect them to be so great with this young rebuilding team. larry drew isnt a superstar but his ast to turnover ration is pretty good and hes getting 8pts and 7ast which is very good. his job is to pass not score and to take care of the ball so hes doing his job as well as davis and thompson. its everyone else whos not stepping up like they should. zeller shoul dbe doing more and henson has been disspointing from his supposed “one and done” when the fact is he just isnt ready like most of the other players. they will still be a good team but not elite

Jonboy136ParticipantCan we try to place the blame where it really belongs for once? Roy once again looked confused and distant at times in the second half. Is he allergic to calling timeouts to kill momentum? Zeller, Thompson , and Davis all need to toughen up, give them a medicine ball in practice, tell them to dunk it, and then beat the s&@t out of them while they try. They need toughness, and they are not learning it in the games.

quincey hodgesblame where it belongs?…there shouldnt be any blame..the team just sint as good as some fans would like them to be. roy has proven he is a great coach. this is a young team that lost 4 of there starters. anyone who thinks they are gonna be elite doesnt know too much about basketball. everyone gets upset thats basketball. you can prepare all you want but there will be nights where a team not as talented beats you.it happens every single year to every single team. cant make a team into what they arent no matter how much you complain about it

JNixonParticipantDexter Strickland will be the starting PG by the early part of the conference swing, or he’ll play starter minutes. He’s proving to be a better scorer than Drew also, which I said he was, and got ate for…

beasystrickland isnt a pg. and that drew kid has been pretty good. hes not spectacular or even that great but he is solid. netiher played well that game. to be honest i rather have who ever is coming in next year. cant remeber the kids name but ive seen him a couple of times in aau games

D7H7NParticipantKendall Marshall; best passer in his class and will probably have an Ed Cota type career. He’s much different than Lawson and Felton, and being 6’3-6’4 he can post up smaller guards.
UNC is going to have a lot of talent next year whether Ed Davis is leaving or not; and I won’t be surprised if Marshall averaged 7-9 assists a game next season.
