he_gets_bucketsParticipantI feel like the Nik Stauskas/Jason Kapono comparison given by this site is extremely lazy for obvious reasons. Personally I dont think he has any similarities to Kapono outside of shooting and be white. I see a lot of favourable similarities in his game to that of Ben Gordon. Both combos, can handle it some but not full time points, can knock down shots from any where, both spot up and off the dribble. He isnt quite the player that Ben was, but I think they have very similar play styles.
Stauskas at least in my opinion, will be a knock down shooter off the bench. At best, he could be a Jason Terry/Ben Gordon type spark plug. I like the value he gives you at the tail end of the lottery, to a team like Minny or Chicago who could use some suring up at the 3 point line.

MattP31ParticipantI don’t think he lasts that long. For the reasons you mentioned he’s a guy who could possibly go Top 10 as someone like Charlotte can use the offense and Philly is desperate for shooting.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantYeah I considered adding that Philly or Charlotte add him, but at their picks there are guys like LaVine, Doug, and James Young who can offer similar skillsets but more "upside". And not to mention if one of the top guys like Vonleh, Randle or Smart falls, I think both Philly and Charlotte would jump on them, if not for anything but a high value trade asset.

bigheavyParticipantYour right the Jason Kapono comp is very lazy not many similarities. I see him as more of a Jason Terry than Ben Gordon. He also reminds me of John Starks, he’s always ready to let it fly….

King CaluchaParticipantThank you. In the early days, Brent Barry spent some time playing PG. I think it is a decent comparison.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI like him at 15 to the Hawks or 16th to the Bulls, I dont like him in Charlotte, Philadelphia or Orlando, The Wolves and Suns could jump and take him in the lottery but I feel like his best landing spot is Chicago

KHAM83ParticipantAs a Hawks fan, Ill be happy if either he, Young, or Levin fell to us, and I fully expect a couple of them, if not all, to. If I were to rank them a couple of weeks ago it would have been Levin bc of his upside, but Im falling in love with Stauskas.

ballislyfe25ParticipantI didn’t watch too much of Michigan this year but everyone was raving about Stauskas all season and when I watch he was definitely impressive. His size is impressive for his skill set and position. The way he comes off of screens in catch and shoot situations and his overall off ball movement reminded me of Korver a bit, but I’m going on a small sample size.
My question with Stauskas is can he guard NBA 2 guards and possibly point guards? I watched much more of Michigan State and really liked Gary Harris, as he can shoot (numbers might not be elite but he is only going to get better) but really defends his position well. Would it be smart to pass up Gary Harris for Stauskas? I’m not trying to knock Stauskas game, I just think a few teams might have the option to pick between the two and it’ll be interesting to see what they decide to do.

addi troupaParticipantI think anyone that takes Harris over Stauskas will regret it. His size is a concern as well as the fact that he’s injury prone (dude got injured at the combine testing, REALLY?). I know he can guard at the collegiate level but the position he will play in the NBA is 2 guard and he’s no bigger than ben gordon. Like his game just think he has pg body and 2g skill. Stauskas is a legit NBA 2 and honestly i think the defense thing is over stated. His athleticism is underrated and how stacked is that position in the L anyways, Harden, Derozan, Wade (older), Kobe (older), Beal, where is this abundance of guards that are gonna torch him in the league? I know i’ll get negged for this comparison but he really does remind me of Drazen Petrovic (for those who are old enough), his game is tight. I also like the Chapman comparison but i think he’s not as athletic and Chapman didn’t have his ball skills. Don’t like the Ben Gordon because he was so 1 dimensional.
