Nick Calathes
If it is true that he is keeping his name in the draft I believe that with the Bulls 2nd first round pick(26) they should use it on him. I would be happy with them paying the extra 1.4 mil, especially since he is compared to Hinrich and it is rumored that the Bulls may trade Hinrich. With their first pick(16) they could go big, or even a solid SG pending Hinrich trade, then have Calathes coming off the bench. Plus, they do not have a second round pick to get him.
A potential starting line-up:
PG:Rose, Calathes
SG:Salmons, 16 pick, Roberson, Nelson
SF:Deng, Ti. Thomas
PF:Traded guy(maybe Bosh),Ty. Thomas, Johnson
C:Noah,Miller,16 pick
Looking at it now they might be better off going big with the 16 pick. Somebody else may have to be involved in a trade, especially if its Bosh, possibly Ty. Thomas.
Listen, a guy who's 6-6 and has PG skills will not go undrafted.
I think he falls to round 2. but when he comes back he will contribute
I have him going 44 to minnesota
Yeah paying an extra 1.4 mil isn't that bad. I was thinking 1million euros was like 5 million dollars haha I'm an idiot. I think Calathes will be a solid pro. That potential starting lineup would be awesome. I'm a fan of Calathes. I think he will be better than Maynor, Teague, Lawson, Mills, etc..
Nope. Calathes has only hope really as pick and roll player and he's not even a stud at that. The way his situation goes is thathe is already understanding that if he is taken by someone in the second they ca either use him and pay his contract or let hi stay and develop. Actually he has no a much better chane at becoming a first rounder as a lot of teams already ant toget rid of ther first rounder for tax purposes, so tey can justue i on Calathes let hmdevelop the rest of the way for a fe years ad either hve a decet player or a pick that was gonna be given up on anyway.
Like the Bulls, I am sure the T'Wolves would love to have a 6'6" combo guard to play next to Randy Foye in a couple years. Calathes is the probably the 2nd or 3rd best passer in the draft, he just can't really guard anyone in the league right now. Seeing as NBA teams can only contribute half a million to any player's buyout, getting him in the first round where he has a set salary for the first 4 years is a solid investment.
But the comparisons to Hinrich aren't all that valid. Hinrich is an all-league defender who is an average shooter and an average passer. Calathes can't guard a lick, but is a great passer and an above average shooter. But they are both white combo guards so everyone compares them to one another.
Was a lot higher on Calathes a year ago. His athleticism is gonna keep him back, which is wy its best he go t Europe and become a master of the pick androllgame. Thts the only way he's gonna succeed.

I'm confused about what is going on with Nick Calathes. Last I heard he is keeping his name in the nba draft. However, he reportedly just signed a 3 year deal with a greek team that includes a 1million euro buyout. In other words the nba team that drafts him has to pay the Greek team 1million euros to release him. I'm not sure how much 1million euros is but...will Calathes even get drafted. If it weren't for this I think he would be a 1st round pick. Now I'm not sure he is even worth a second round pick.
