NFL Draft thread
the draft is just two hours away now and nothing is for sure. Usually by now the first pick of the draft is singed and we can start to see how the draft will fall. This year however due to the lack of star power or big names makes it that much more intriguing to me. To all you football fans out there who is your sleeper? Who is the biggest bust of the draft? Will any of the QB's ever become anything? Lastly where does Lennay Kekua (manti T'eo) fall please let me know and i'll share my thoughts as well
sleepers- Knile Davis ( Arkansas running back) suffered an injury 2 years ago and never fully recovered last year. He was seen as a Heisman candidate two years ago before the injury and looked great at the combine.
Tavares King Georgia WR- Not going to make the huge plays but can help a team a possession receiver. Doesnt possess any extreme athleticism but gets the job done.
Vance Mcdonald Rice TE- Has the athleticism that the NFL now looks for in the tight end position. Not as big as a name as Tyler Eifert or Zach Ertz but i see him being an immediate impact for a team.
Da'rick Rogers Tennessee Tech- Tennessee coach Dooley said he was the most talented of the WR's from Tennessee before the transfer. He got into a little trouble at school and that could affect his stock.
AJ Klein ILB Iowa State- just makes plays. He didn't do anything at the combine that caught the eyes of the scouts but if you watch his game tape he always seems to be in the right spot.
Busts- KeKe Mingo DE/OLB LSU- Just dont see what he brings to the table. He weighs 240 and barely produced in college yet scouts still love him. I am really hoping my Jets pass on him because i just dont see how he can help an NFL team the way a first rounder should.
Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma- A guy who has shot up draft boards due to his combine. He doesnt seem like a LT in the NFL and a RT should not be chosen until after the top 15 yet he is considered a top 8 prospect. Struggled in college against the elite pass rushers, however having slow Landry Jones a syour QB doesnt help
Ryan Nassib? QB Syracuse- dont know if it would be viewed more as just dumb if he goes in the first round or a bust but he is not a first round talent. It is sad teams are really going to select him over Geno. Not one part of his game is elite as a QB.
As for the QB's i like Geno he will start for a few years in the NFL, but two guys i really like are Tyler Wilson and Matt Barkley. I think they have what it possess to be a solid starting QB in the NFL. That being said i think they have to be drafted into the right system to succeed. Broncos for Barkley and Patriots for Wilson.
As for Manti i see him going late first early second.
And if you want check out my 100 pick mock draft on my website which contains explanations for every pick. Let me know what you guys think and happy draft Day!

Barkley's a scrub. And this is coming from a USC fan.
Eric Fisher is taking the top spot over Luke Joeckel. Made a Mock for the WalterFootball contest, do not have much faith in it. Just hope my Ducks footballers go to some decent teams. Still think it is CRAZY that Dion Jordan could go as high as #2, though he is an athletic freak. Just no one that really gets me hyped in this draft, especially at the top. Bet their will be some solid value.
Have always liked Robert Woods, feel he is really getting slept on. As a #2 WR or a slot guy, Woods could kill it. Also think that Bjoern Werner is kind of a freak, have him in my first round for sure. Find it hard to believe Barkley slipped as far as he did, would still probably look at him in the first round somewhere if I needed a QB.
Bottom line is, people are probably waiting for 2014, where they will have some serious prizes at the top of the draft. Jadeveon Clowney is probably more highly regarded in football than Andrew Wiggins is in basketball as a prospect for the next level. Throw in tackles, QB's with much more upside than the guys this year, teams will be glad to see this one go by. Also want to say, I think that all things considered, DeAnthony Thomas will be the fastest player in the NFL upon arrival. See him playing WR or maybe even going back to CB, just expect Hester like explosion from the Black Mamba.
I'm hoping we take Jordan at #4 if not trade back. On another note Mamba is my favorite player in the NCAA.
My avatar photo for the site (which I think I have had since he signed with us) is De'Anthony Thomas wearing all of his Ducks gear after deciding to come to U of O. Chip was actually his position coach at TAZR (the WR/RB/slot position he played in our offense). Have to say, kind of glad Chip did not have to take the gamble on Dion and went with an O-Lineman. Especially one that is as athletic as Lane Johnson.
The Eagles line got destroyed last season and if you are going to play in a Chip Kelly offense, speed is a must. Think that Johnson loved the idea of being in Chip's system and if Chip can't get the best out of him doubt that anyone can. I love Dion, just do not think him being drafted that high is scary. I never saw him as a top 5 guy. Guess people have doubts about Johnson as well, just feel that the offense is what needed some major tweaking, especially the line.
As far as Mamba goes, think that Tavon Austin going 8 is a fantastic sign looking too next year. Honestly feel that De'Anthony has that same sort of athletic package, only more toughness and versatility. People will point to DAT not being a "true" wideout, just think that he absolutely has that ability, only that he is used differently in the Ducks system. Think his IQ for the game, vision and overall speed are elite, if people think he is that different from Tavon, they are just focusing on a position that De'Anthony can easily slide over to. He has that ability. If Tavon even has a decent rookie season, think that will mean De'Anthony being a very high pick next year.
I think by Chip leaving it may effect him this year, as far as having to find a natural position to play WR or CB. This is a make or break year in the transition of playing the WR spot full time. By all means he is a first rounder, but if he thinks he can play RB at the next level he won't be.
From all the reports Eric Fisher is going #1 so you might want to adjust your mock. Also no way is Jarvis Jones going that high. He will probably 20-32 slot. Even though I don't agree with many things in your mock, nice write up.
Yep, looks like Fisher goes first. Where do you guys think Geno will end up? I've heard so many different things.
Thanks for the update just got back from class just changed it quickly
Mante Te'o also looks like if he gets passed the Bears at 20, then he'll be taken by one of the Vikings picks. I think they might go Te'o, Patterson at 23 and 25.
Also reports the rams are very intrigued by Tavon Austin and close to a deal to move up past the Jets to draft him. Bills and Browns possible suitors. Also the Chargers have contacted the Eagles and Raiders to draft one of those Offensive tackles
I think Austin is a stud. He's shooting up the boards like crazy and whoever lands him is going to get a big playmaker.
Hope my WVU boys end up being good pros. Geno, and Tavon. Also not just because I am from West Virginia but Aaron Dobson from Marshall could be a sleeper pick when it's all said and done.
Hope my cowboys do not do anything stupid... At our pick in the draft I'm good with taking Chance Warmack if he drops to us...
Don't be surprised if Geno is the 3rd QB taken.... Manuel is my sleeper to go first to Cleveland.
Love me some offensive linemen
Hoping my Bears don't take T'eo...not even because of the drama...he just isn't that great and Inside Linebackers are so less important than other positions.
Depending on who we take at #4 we may shake up the draft. I have not ruled out Dee Milliner.
Found it odd that Jordan only played in about 45% of Oregons defensive snaps last year? If you have a top 3 draft pick play him damn near every play! Just seems strange...
Tavon could thrive in STL. Guy will be used a ton. Replaces Amendola but probably has a better all around skill set. Excited to see him there.
Johnathan Cooper was exactly what Zona needed.
I didnt expect Geno to fall back so far. I wonder what has hurt his stock.?.?
The scouts question the system that he played in, despite his physical tools.
I understand his system lacked as far as in pertaining to the NFL. But Gruden also said earlier in the week that he blames some of Geno's miscues on the fact that WV ran almost 100 different plays every game, which was extremely high for 1game. If he has all the tools, had a great workout, and has the work ethic and study habits, as they say, I figured he'd be gone by 13.
Someone is getting a steal with Geno. I seriously think so.
Also, I think the Vikings did awesome.
Sheriff, Rhodes, Patterson.
Hoping the Jags take Geno tomorrow. They need a new QB.
We are draft nerds!!!
Day 1 winners
Day 2 begins now.... Praying my Eagles don't take Geno.
