Mac is just better as an all round player then nerlens it obvious is a better defender but on the offensive side of the ball he might as well not be playing
Mcadoo is just a much better player and more polished than Noel is at this point in their careers. Noel has more potential but is a serious project while mcadoo is much more well rounded.
Right now I would bet on Rudy Gobert moving ahead of him too
1. doug mcdermott (mix of larry legend and nowitzki)... joke
8. isaiah austin
9. lorenzo brown (personal favorite)
10. c.j. mcollum
11. tony mitchell
12. bj young (where did he go in the mock, i cant find him)
13. cj leslie
did not include alex len, ale brown and steve adams because lack of knowledge.
I wouldn't touch Isaiah Austin in the top 10. He's skilled but he's weak and ultra soft.
he's 7 feet. i like his game. skilled, confident in his shot, gets up quick for blocks, nice timing.
he reminds me of henson who i was a fan of. i think austin's going to put around pj3's numbers (EVEN IN SIMILAR FASHION) with 2-3 blocks a game, and 8 rebounds for baylor this year. if he can gain a little weight he projects imo as a good futuristic-lanky-PF, where the nba is heading to.
L. Brown, CJ Leslie, and Trey Burke just missed out.
Alec Brown, Otto Potter and CJ McCollum not included because I'm not that familar with them.
good to see people hi on goodwin because i think he's a hooper. idk why aran doesn't like him, we'll see how it turns out.
check lorenzo out, best handles in all CBB. 0:36-0:42 is the sickness
Anyways here in my list
1. Shabazz Muhammad
2. Cody Zeller
3. Nerlens Noel
4. Alex Poythress
5. James McAdoo
6. Tony Mitchell
7. Dario Saric
8. Steven Adams
9. Archie Goodwin
10. Anthony Bennett
Caldwell-Pope, Marcus Pagie, Brown, Kabongo, DaJuan Coleman and Adonis Thomas would be others guys who I could probably move around into the lottery.
nice list, not a big fan of bennett tho. you were one of the first i remember to say poythress will be beast, i was gonna put him over mcadoo as well but supposedly mcadoo is a legit 6'9 so i'll give him the nod.
it would be cool if people posted their lotto lists. i ask others not to neg just because you disagree with some1 else's list. that ultimately prevents others from posting theirs, in fear of denial
I would've done a lotto list but I just couldn't pick between the guys I listed for the 4 spots. Never seen Gobert or Alec Brown play so I left them off.
McAdoo came along at the end of last year, but he still has no wing skills and has a lot of work to do to become a true post threat. I would've put Poythress over Noel except I know Noel will be drafted ahead of him, although I think Poythress is a vastly superior player right now.
I like Bennett. He's a bit undersized but he got a great frame, he's strong and he's more advanced then McAdoo is in terms of perimeter skills.
I'm a huge fan of Bennett but his injury problems in high school is a major redflag for me as it seems he was always hurt
Y2G,I had to give you a Point for Mentioning Dario Saric...Nobody is Talking about him right now..But if he was in college over here,he'll be considered a Top 5 pick..He has great court vision, good ball handling skills, has grown a few inches since last season..He has to gain strength and improve his perimeter shooting....Plays alot like Billy Owens...
I like him too. I don't know why he isn't on the 2013 mock, he's really good.
next 5 in (in order)
jamaal franklin, adonis thomas, kabongo, p.j hairston, saric.
I too was wondering if he was a pf or a sf- hes looks like a classic tweener. I never saw any post moves , just the occasional fade away with m,ixed results at that. I remember last year he was like number 4 in the preseason mock draft. Im not familiar with Gorbert or Borwn either.
Poythress looks like a great wing athlete but he showed me no skill except dunking (blokcks too) basically just athletism.
Did Kidd-Gilchrist show you anything different? They are both great athletes who have good size and play tough defense, except Poythress has a much better 3 point shot, and is a little bigger.
McAdoo is not a wing. He can't handle, shoot or do anything well for a wing. He's got very nice touch inside and he's a good athlete. He needs to got a little bigger and stronger and then he can make a living as a PF.
Looks like a pretty good draft to me. Nerlens Noel is an Anthony Davis type who might not be as dominant a shot blocker in college (although he still should be very, very good there), but he looks more fluid. I know that I have only seen his highlights, but they look good. Good size and length, and runs the floor very well with some nice passing skills.
But, Davis did have MKG and Terrence Jones in supporting roles to really complement his game. Not sure if Nerlens Noel will have those types of guys with him.
The top 4 look very solid with a pretty good list of guys in the top 10 or so. And there are always guys who emerge every season so I think we will get some more solid guys to fill the late first round and early second round part of the draft.
With a large number of big men in the lottery part of the draft, a lot will pan out as the NCAA season gets underway and we see what players like Noel and Adams are like compared to more experienced bigs like Zeller, Brown and Len.
Rudy Gobert has certainly moved up the mocks and as a European player will no doubt vary wildly across the draft boards as people either feel he has untapped potential or that he is not such a proven player as the NCAA bigs.
Another thing I noticed is that Nerlens Noel has seriously bulked up over the last year going from 201 lbs last year to 216lbs within a year, this will help to negate the worry about him being pushed about by much stronger C's when he comes to the NBA. And he still has a year at UK to continue to bulk up.
The mock will always evolve across a year and Aran can only base it on performances as he sees them and like us guess who will declare when. McAdoo should get a much larger role this year and so will need to live up to his hype but I have no issue with him being ahead of Noel at the moment as he may be more NBA ready.
Personally I don't think Cody Zeller will remain as number one pick if one of the freshmen have a big breakout year but he looks a very likely top 5 pick whenever he declares and at the moment is perhaps further down the road than the other guys development wise.
Honestly the American crop is so bad this year I wouldn't be surprised if Rudy Gobert shoots up to #1 given bis rapid improvement over the past year.
yeah this draft is so weaak that i see this year some Westbrook Wesley type of risers out of nowhere..
I would not say it's a bad year in 2013, Shabbaz has always been highly rated and could be the highest drafted SG for a long time. This year's draft was very strong as so many players returned for Soph or Junior years and didn't declare in 2011.
2014 looks very strong with Wiggins and Parker heading it up 6 HS guys at the top of Aran's long term mock. Interestingly I think there are only 5 college freshmen on the site's 2013 mock draft and two of those are Coach Cal guys, so if more of this year's intake do develop then we will see more of them coming into draft contention and the mock will acquire more depth.
