    Nets:

Terrence Williams- Had a very shaky game today. Nothing new about the way he approached anything. Makes dazzling plays with his athleticism and passing skills. Still, he took bad shot after bad shot. I think he’ll be fine, but his all-around decision making ability has to improve. Breakout candidate #1 for me though.

Derrick Favors- Another shaky performance. He has an alarming lack of aggression for a guy picked 3rd overall. I called it didn’t I? I know it’s early though. Not likely to pass the ball. He flashes a nice turnaround hook in the 1st quarter on 2 occasions, and then disappeared offensively the rest of the game. Way too foul prone and leaves his feet or lunges. Had 7 fouls today. On the bright side, he rebounded alright. I keep saying it, Favors is not ready to start. He’s no Amare Stoudemire.

Damion James- I called him the next Gerald Wallace on multiple occasions, and he’s proving me right. I have NO idea why scouts though he was a tweener before this draft, he hasn’t played like a tweener since his Junior year at Texas. Very high motor and excellent length and athleticism. A dog on both ends who will do the dirty work. Can draw fouls, and doesn’t even need the ball to do it. Still needs to improve his handle a little. Had a great game.

Brian Zoubek- Seriously? I just don’t get it…

Ben Uzoh- Still fast and athletic, and seems to have a bunch of length. Shot the ball well. Still clearly not a true PG and not a great talent, but he does seem to have defensive upside (although he’s not there yet).

Tweety Carter- He’s severely limited by his lack of size, but he has nice jets and plays with energy and heart. Still, he’s too small to make the roster. He’d have too many problems.

    Magic:

Daniel Orton: Damn this guy sucks lol. While he is a horrible rebounder and offensive player, he is good for one vicious shot-block a game. Maybe he can build on that? I have doubts he’ll be in the NBA after his contract runs out. Yes……I’m making that assumption off of Summer League games. Bite me. He really looks bad.

Stanley Robinson- Continues to struggle. His lack of handle, confidence and aggression are holding him back. He might not even make the team, but he could be a D-Leaguer because he has some tools.

Patrick Ewing Jr.- Still is showing a shooting touch that he didn’t have before for the 3rd straight game. Rebounds well and is a tough (although foul-prone and reckless) defender. He has a chance of make the team over Stanley Robinson I’d think.

Joe Crawford- This game highlights Crawford well. He clearly has NBA-caliber scoring/shooting ability, but he’s still selfish and a lackluster defender. Great offensive game, but he’s extremely one-dimensional and it will continue to hold him back.

Paul Davis- Put together an extremely strong game. Played aggressive offensively and drew fouls, and also rebounded extremely well. He might be on to something…

Orton is kind of hurt by not having willing passers though. I watched some of the game and he set some decent picks and went to the basket but in summer league guys are not really looking for him. Favors is another guy that in a real game with point guards looking to pass him the ball, he would look a lot better. That being said both guys should be more aggressive but they are young and not being a big part of the offense is limited their stats and they are not being aggressive enough to demand touches.

Joe Crawford would seem to be a great guy to have coming off your bench like Jamal (no relation) and Jordan(his brother lol))

really liked your review…im a huge nets fan love to hear others takes, i usually think of my opinion as biased…i was heavy on the nets trading down to take monroe over favors but i understood the potential and trade value he had over monroe…as for james, i was super high on him and when i heard they pulled that deal off i thought that made up for favors because he will be in the rotation immediately…as for zoubek and uzoh, i agree completely….i just hope we finish this offseason with lebron and david lee, would make a 12-70 season and not getting wall a little easier to swallow

Favors will be better than Monroe over time and I am a Monroe fan. Monroe is better skilled now though but Favors is a super athlete who could grow to 7 feet or close to it.

I’d be super duper shocked if Favors was better than Monroe. Nothing about him is better, other than him being more athletic. He’s less aggressive than Monroe is, and Monroe is always (unfairly?) criticized for a lack of aggression. He also isn’t as good offensively, and I don’t ever think he will be

Daniel Orton sucks NOW but he will play against the best center in the league, in Dwight Howard, in practice and will develop overtime. If I was Otis Smith I would keep Gortat until Daniel Orton can actually score more than 4 points in a summer league game.

Joe Crawford is related to Jamal because Jordan is Jamal’s cousin so that means that Joe is also Jamal’s cousin.

Why are people always blaming the guards for Favors lack of offensive aggression???

Yeah really, Terrence Williams can pass like a PG, so it must not be that Favors is wide open everytime but people aren’t giving it to him. I believe it for Orton, but not for Favors when he has T-Will handling the ball

@NBA ANALYST That’s what I thought during the Draft. Orton needs to stay in the back of the roster and learn from Dwight and Patrick, and maybe in time be a decent player. Hopefully Gortat won’t throw a fit about not starting…

Not gonna lie I’m rooting for Tweety because he’s a little guy and he’s playing hard and with passion which is what most players are missing

I want Tweety Carter to make it too. He really was outstanding at Baylor this past season. I thought he’d emerge as a legit draft pick, he was that good this past season.

Do u know why they don’t look for favors or orton? They have no real offense. That’s why don’t get the ball. A good point guard won’t pass it to them they the know they will turn it over or have no moves. Been saying since favors sr year he’s raw on offense and lacks alot of offense of skills yet most keep givng excuses for him. You really think he will get more touches in the regular season when there will be much better options on offense? (lopez,Harris etc)

That’s doesn’t say much. His team gets a F for rebounding and he gets a D. Both are failing grades

A D is actually a passing grade…But OK, whatever you say.

Both Jordan and Joe Crawford are not related to Jamal Crawford. They are not cousins.
