Nets still interested in Howard?
hoopshype reports that the Nets may still be interested in Howard. I think we've forgotten all about them as potential suitors. Do y'all think Howard would consider Brooklyn again? Lopez has improved, would Lakers agree to move Howard for Lopez, Humphries, Brooks? With Gasol, Kobe and Humphries expiring deals, that's 50 million coming off the books for a big free agency summer.
Coach Killer Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace's contract, Iso Joe (Johnson), and Dwightmare?
Good luck Jason Kidd!
After this past season, Im not so sure the Nets would swap lopez with howard straight up let alone throw brooks and humphries into the deal
12 million for 19 minutes per game...I am gonna go out on a limb and say the Nets would trade Humphries for a new ball boy straight up.
Teams 4 million over the luxury tax cannot do sign and trades. So it amazes me that many hoops writers are making sign and trade suggestions for teams that are not allowed to do a sign and trade. If I am wrong please let me know, but this is my understanding of one of the penalties for tax paying teams.
A lot of people dont get this, also the amnesty rules
If I were the Lakers and the nets offered Lopez and Brooks...I would take that and run. Two great young pieces for a talented but hard to incorporate/ motivate Howard.
I think the Nets are just fine with Lopez. Theyve been through this Dwama before.
Some of the deals that professional writers come up with if they were created by people on this site would get loads of negatives. They often base it on just ppg and basic stats with no idea about advanced stats or even how the cap works.
^That trade was pretty much proposed by every major Sports outlet 2 years ago, and it was reported that the Nets were EXTREMELY adamant that they were unwilling to trade Marshon Brooks. After the horrible Joe Johnson experiment I think its safe to say that decision is a good one, because Brooks has showed he is a capable scorer, but he gets close to no minutes which makes it difficult to impossible for even the most talented young players to grow and adapt to the league.
Marshon was quoted during the playoffs saying "It seems like I'm the last resort, honestly," he said. "If things aren't going well for the team, throw MarShon out there. That's been the rhythm all year. I kind of know when my name is going to be called, in a sense." - http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/nets/marshon-brooks-feels-like-...
I really do not know what the Nets want to do at all. They have a good team, but not a playoff team and nothing they have done makes it seem that they will dramatically improve. With that being said J Kidd is a boss and would love to see him implement a more TEAM focused game plan w/ Deron distributing like he did in Utah.
I am assuming you mean they don't have a championship contender? Because they were a playoff team...
It is strange how they were so high on him but they played him 500 less minutes this season and he played 17 more games. I understand the Johnson trade took a look of minutes from him but it was ridiculous that they only played him 12 minutes per game this season.
