jjonzParticipantif they max out DWill/D12 (their are sign & trade talks in the works) and JJohnson will make 20mill plus. And GWallace will make 10mill also.
My question is how can you field a team when your Top 4 players will make between 70-75million?

TyroberParticipantThey would have the highest payroll in the league and with the new CBA it’s just not feasible to do that. Would be fine for right now, but in 3 years they might be pushing 80 million for 4 players and paying a huge luxory tax bill. People look at the HEAT, but LeBron, Wade, and Bosh all took less than the max. Those 3 guys will be making 15 million a piece while New Jerseys would be making over 20 million. Just won’t work.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantBillionaireeze (language that guy with the tiny giraffe in Direct Tv commercial speaks). Anybody front office that trades for Joe Johnson (20 mill 36% of the entire cap) in 2012 knowning the CBA will penalize you in 2013, doesnt care about no stinkin feasibility. That’s like a front office trading for Gilbert Arenas 3 years ago or signing JJ Reddick and Jason Rich for 5 million a piece for 4 years or trading for Turkolu after he signed a ridiculous deal that you never even considered matching. Nobody is that dumb.
Bad news is they amnestied Outlaw and if one of these guys gets hurt like career ending or they hate each other and dont get along then the Nets are screwed.

joecheck88ParticipantI honestly don’t think money is going to be an issue for a few years with Prokerov. I think he wants to show he is willing right now to establish himself as a power owner. He wants to set the bar high for the future. Losing a few million over the next few years I don’t think means much to him. Especially if he can show he wants to be a winner.

aamir543ParticipantSmiple, the Russian guy doesn’t give a shiit about how much he spends, we could see record breaking salary cap figures during his tenure to be honest, he just wants to win, not doing a very good job but assuming D-Will stays, they have a very nice plan for the future.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantand you get Howard would have DWill, JoeJohn,GWallace, and Dwight. They have the exception every year and could be in the 90 million range. There is a few owners that would double the cap if they could have 5 max players and pay it happily. Cuban, Gilbert, Dolan and Prokerov. If Knicks could trade Lin, Shumpert, Fields and picks for CP3 they would and keep Anthony,Stodemire and Chandler.
Would you rather be flexible or great.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantSounds fun.
Jonny Flynn- His career has not taken off to date, but did post a better than 2:1 assist:turnover in Portland. He can be a steady backup behind Deron Williams.
Tyshawn Taylor- He can be the third point, and with some seasoning in Springfield might be able to push Flynn towards the end of the year.
Tracy McGrady- It would be the chance to be a contributor for a contender in New York.
Sam Young- good defender in Memphis, got lost in the tax crunch, shipped off to Philadelphia where he was not needed. He can probably be had for the veterans minimum.
Bill Walker- Up and down career in New York. If he ever could learn to defend without fouling, he could be really good. He is a smart and skilled offensive player who has improved his three-point shot. Like Young, he got released when the Knicks ran into a numbers crunch. He can probably be had for the veterans minimum.
John Shurna- Shooters can always shoot, and this team needs a zone buster. The undrafted Shurna would be a cheap one.
Rashard Lewis- He has done well with Dwight Howard before, and will be getting paid by New Orleans so that he can go play for a contender for the veteran’s minimum.
Andres Nocioni- He is a guy who is worth a look. Prior to 2011-12, he was not an awful player to have on the roster. He shot 36 percent from three in 2011, 39 percent in 2010, and 40 percent in 2009. If Rashard gets sleepy, he might still be capable of providing a spark.
Ivan Johnson- Surprisingly, he was non-tendered by Atlanta. Cheap energy if Nocioni just can’t play anymore.
Derrick Caracter- Put the carrot in front of him. If he comes to camp in shape, he can give the 10 minutes or so needed of a Howard backup. If not…
Jason Collins- The "if all else fails" center. He will defend and be a good teammate, but don’t expect numbers.
Chris Daniels and Solomon Alabi- Remember when people thought Alabi was good? He was non-tendered by Toronto. Daniels was a small college big man who had a good year in the NBDL. That is probably about as good as he can be, but he would be worth a look. Bring them to camp, if Caracter isn’t right then maybe one of them can be carried as the third stringer until bad teams start waiving vets after the trade deadline.
I think it could work.
Brooklyn Nets could go to training camp:
PG-Deron Williams, Jonny Flynn, Tyshawn Taylor
SG-Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady
SF-Gerald Wallace, Sam Young, Bill Walker, John Shurna
PF-Rashard Lewis, Mirza Teletovic, Andres Nocioni, Ivan Johnson
C-Dwight Howard, Derrick Caracter, Jason Collins, Solomon Alabi, Chris Daniels

TallmanNYCParticipantI read that Prokov makes $40 million . . . a day.
But frankly fielding a team like that starts with DWill and DHoward would be fairly easy. When you add in Crash and JJohnson you wouldn’t need any other talent. You could fill out the team with D-leaguers and just be fine as long as any of your big guns don’t get hurt. Really, once you have D. Howard, you have an NBA playoff team unless Howard gets hurt. You don’t really need anything better than average NBA players after that. And D. Will, Johson and Crash are all good players. So that would be a studly team no matter who is on the bench.
