We all know the Nets are wheeling and dealing right now. They were originally considered the favorites to land the services of 6-10, 25-year-old Ersan Ilyasova, who had a breakout season for the Bucks last year, averaging more than 14 points and 10 boards on nearly 50 percent shooting and 45 percent from 3 in his 41 starts.

Reportedly, the other interested parties are the Cavs, Raptors, and Spurs. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of minutes to go around in San Antonio. Bargnani in Toronto is a fairly similar player, especially with Valanciunas coming over to play the five spot.

So Clevelanders, what do you think of the big Turk? I think Tristan Thompson is going to start at the four with Varejao at the five while he’s on the roster, but eventually Zeller will get those minutes at the five. They’re going to match any offer for Gee, but can Ilyasova play the three at all? Can he put the ball on the floor at 6-10? Could you envision Ilyasova starting at the three with Gee coming off the bench? Is he worth the $8 million a year he’ll probably command?

I am not to sure. his shooting stroke is what Cavs neeed and if he can play the 3 it would allow Gee to come off the bench, what he does so well and my effective IMO. I hope Cavs go after him if Batum is not avialable.

maybe 20 to 24 over three years, but that would make him the hhighest paid player on the Cavs. He’s probably wants a 4 year deal and that would mean he would be taking space when Kyrie and presumably Tristan are signing extentions. Batum might be a better fit because he can play some 2 and guard 3’s and 2’s above average, but there are talking 10 million a year is the starting point to negotiate with him. He is not worth twelve if Hibbertor Gordan is only 15. Omer Asik 3 years 25 million, after the year Ersan had and especially the way he played against the Cavs, he may not take 8 million a year and he would have a good point.

About Batum, he is a good shooter but he won’t drive. If he would consistantly get to the whole he would be worth 10 a year. Think Batum for 10-12 or Gee for 4.

Offensively I see no problems with Ersan playing the three, in more of a hovering around the perimeter spot-up shooter style of role. Especially with Kyrie & Waiters doing a lot of driving to the lane, driving & dishing out to someone like Ersan would get some nice easy 3’s.

However the issue is on defense, I don’t think Ersan could keep up with most small forwards in the league, in fact Tristan would probably have better luck switching to the three on defense, but that isn’t exactly ideal either.

All in all, I think it can work, but will take some adjusting and experimenting.

I like Ilyasova, but he is much better as a 4 than as a 3.  At the 4, he can make an impact as a pick-and-pop big man while bringing excellent rebounding.  Ilyasova is actually a pretty decent defender at the 4, as he can rebound well and is a good man to man defender who positions himself well, but I think he would struggle to match up with 3s on the perimeter.  As a 3, his offensive skill set is more replacable, but it is unique for a 4.

I know he is listed as 25 years old, but it is universally blieved that he is really 28, just pointing that out.

According to @hoopsrumors the Nets are still interested in Ilyasova especially if they cant get Dwight Howard… Obviously it would have to be a sign and trade… Hoopsrumors states Kris Humphries is a candidate in a sign and trade deal but the last thing the Bucks need is another PF… If im Milwaukee id want Gerald Green in the deal… Hes a big athletic SG/SF that could give some excitement for the Bucks…
