laarethekingsParticipantJoe Johnson is a Nets if D Will resigns with the team. Nets keep Brooks, Green and their 1st round pick in deal
Meeting with D Will and telling about the trade right now

Moon RiverParticipantKen Berger of CBS is reporting the same (if that is not your source).

royk927ParticipantI gotta give ferry props if he did manage to off load joes contract.

220ParticipantSo does this make Danny Ferry a really good gm or does it make Billy King a bad one?
If this deal goes through I guess that means the Nets are done pursuing Howard or they don’t care how much luxury tax they pay.

inbedwithyomamaParticipantI wonder what Dwight Howard thinks about this deal.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBased on reports, Nets are going through with this deal whether Deron Williams re-signs or not.
Reports are also saying that the Nets have moved on from the idea of acquiring Dwight Howard. They no longer have enough to sign him after this move for Joe Johnson.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantA backcourt of Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Gerald Wallace is scary though. They all compliment eachother so well on the offensive end. Throw in Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries and you’ve got yourself a team that can get out of the 2nd round.

Jlv2012is GM of the year.

TyroberParticipantDon’t see how he passes with Nets now. Johnson, Wallace, and Lopez or Dirk? The small lineup of Williams, Brooks, Johnson, Wallace, and Lopez will be scary good. I doubt that is their starting lineup, it might be their most effective offensively.

NickAKnightParticipantThe Magic have always said they wouldn’t move D12 for Lopez. Now the Nets have nothing to offer outside of Brooks and a 1st rounder. I think the D12 to the Nets talks are over. The reason why the Nets requested a meeting with D-Will is to tell him they aren’t going after Dwight. He’s becoming a headache anyway.
I can’t blame the Magic for having no interest in Lopez. 7 ft+ players with foot injuries are a disaster. I would be shocked if Lopez lasts more then 1/3rd of the season. A lineup of Williams, Johnson, Wallace, Humphries, and Lopez would be great but Lopez won’t last.
Magic need to just tell the Rockets they’ll take the best offer they can get. Lowry, Scola, and either Lamb/T-Jones would be enough for me.

IndianaBasketballParticipantFoot injuries are definitely a pain for seven footers, but look at how Zydrunas Illgauskas bounced back. I think they just need to be managed differently.
I think Brook Lopez will bounce back. People killed him for his rebounding, but I think people forget how talented he is offensively.
Williams, Johnson, Wallace, Humphries, Lopez, Brooks and Green so far looks like a team that could compete amongst the top in the East.

delfamParticipantHow does Billy King still have a job?

IndianaBasketballParticipantAnthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Jordan Williams, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and the Rockets’ 2013 lottery protected first round pick for Joe Johnson.

RapCityParticipantI like this deal for both teams. Joe because he needed a scenary change and the Hawks because they were stuck in mediocrity and needed to be blown up.
Now for Dwight Howard, the only assets the Nets have left are Lopez, Brooks and future picks which may not be enough to outbid Houston.

What The DevilParticipantAm I the only one thinking the Nets are shooting themselves in the foot on this deal? I mean Joe Johnson is passable but he is no where near worthy of the contract attached and they also just gave Gerald Wallace a new contract…they are putting their hopes in a trio of Wallace, Johnson, and Williams? Playoff team with maybe a second round ceiling…that’s all I give them and I fail to see how that teams would be better than playing with Dirk who has won a ring already.

ChrisCrossParticipantI know Joe was very over priced, but he’s a multi time all-star, and they got a bunch of bench players and draft pick for an all-star caliber player, kinda crazy how his contract demineshed his trade value.

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantThis move by the nets is for Howard screwing them over at the trade deadline lol
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/02/2012 - 1:42pm #691565
carefulParticipantIs it possible for them to trade Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez for Dwight? Or is there still no cap room after Joe Johnson and potentially Deron Williams sign?
