He had a great game today. Offensively he had a great game, 19pts and 7/7 from the line! Showed he gained some weight probably around 10-15lbs. He looked real confident. However, he only grabbed 3 boards. Im hoping he can stay healthy all year and show us a lil more somethin somethin.

Hollis freaking Thompson out-rebounded him by 9. Has work cut out for him.

I watched most of the game and was very happy with Noel. He hit all of his free throws and was very athletic and energetic at both ends of the floor. He CLEARLY feels great physically and that is what is most important to me. The summer league is about him getting some healthy minutes under his belt.

    His rebounds will come.

It really makes me think Hinkie knows what he is doing. He grabbed the rookie of the year with his second pick last year (MCW) and rested his first pick(Noel). It looks like it paid off and now they have Noel playing with confidence. They grabbed the projected first overall pick last year after slipping due to injury. They did the same thing this year with Joel Embiid.  It will definitely be interesting to see if they can develop all these top picks into a winning basketball formula as it will probably be another high lottery pick next year.

2015 and beyond looks promising. MCW, Noel,Embiid, Saric, early lottery talent next year. They will probably acquire another first rounder for eating a bad contract (Lin,Bargnani,Boozer or Jack all rumoured). Plus they picked 3 players in the 2 nd round who were all projected to be 1 st rounders in McDaniels,J. grant and Milcic. They probably avoid free agency for one more year and just acquire others bad contracts to meet league minimums while they build from within. Picking up more assets in a short turnaround.

That isn’t fair. Nerlens, Embiid, Saric and MCW have legitimate credentials. It isn’t like a performance in a summer league game is all that they have on their resume.

Noel looks great physically and that is the only thing that really matters to me right now. If he is healthy he will probably have an up and down rookie season like most rookies, but he is a terrific prospect and everyone knows it.

With Embiid we are just going to have to wait for a while until we see if he is healthy, but if he is, then he is the best prospect in this years draft by a good margin.

There’s 2 sides to everything, I’m sorry if I’m not optimistic about this 76ers plan…  He said "Hinkie knows what he’s doing"…  I simply said after one Summer League game?  Really?  No one is questioning if Nerlens look good, but damn…  Before making crazy a$$ predictions can we wait until the season?  Or hell, more than ONE summer league game of Nerlen’s career?

Elfrid Payton played like crap today, sometimes turning the ball over at the half court line..  Does that mean he will be trash in the league?  NO…  It’s one game…  We haven’t seen Nerlens since Feb. 2013…  You can talk about how well he played, but taking it far saying "winning basketball formula" from a team that tanked last season and will tank this season is comical… Especially after 1 summer league game of Noel’s career…

Let’s put things into perspective ok?  Nerlens didn’t have a great year at UK that everyone was expecting and with or without the injury Noel wasn’t a lock for the #1 pick last year.  He got injured in mid Feb, that team was still destined for the NIT with him.  He’s an intriguing prospect, I wouldn’t say terrific…  Let’s hold off on declaring ish after one summer league game…  That’s all…

Looked good to me. He will be a force on defense for sure. I saw him change a lot of shots today. Rebounding will come.

As a guy who’s not a fan of Noel, I’ve gotta say maybe that ACL injury was good for him.

People are just haters. Will always be that. Funny thing is, when he came out, everyone said he’s got the knee injury, he’s skinny and his offense needs serious work. His first game out, his knee looked good, didn’t seem to lose much if any athletisism, he looked about 10-15 lbs heavier and the dude scored 19 and hit 7-7 on fts. Literally looked good in every aspect he was criticized for and he’s gonna get bashed for only getting 3 boards and 1 block. In his very first game! He will block shots and he WILL average more than 3 rebounds a game. It’s 1 game. Either way you look at it. I’m confident he can get 10-12 points a game this year and get about 7.5 – 10 ish rebounds. And of course his defense will be legit. Guy got 4 steals today also.

If you read these forums about him and didnt know him you would think he’s like Mark Madsen or somebody in D2 College.  People underestimate him so much, his dribbling and passing get way overlooked as well.  I have no doubt he will be a force on both ends.  Guys a freak athletically.

I really dont want to see this guy injury plagued the league needs more professional competitors like Nerlens. Weve lost way too many to injuries and sickness.I think he can have a huge impact on the league and the size he is playing at now is fine if Philly wants to play him next to Embiid.

Its great for this young man to come back from a devestating injury with such improvement especially his ft shooting. Alot of people will say its only summer league but 7-7 on free throws is a sure sign he improved whether its Summer League, D-League, Euroleague, Aussie League, or YMCA ball.

Good to see him playing again and having a very good scoring game, 3 rebounds only was a bit strange but we know that part of his game will come. Good to see he has bulked up a bit, being out for 18 months probably meant he did a load of gym work and the Phily trainers have been able to work with him.

I wonder if Sam Hinkie is already following the 2 years removed from HS draft rule.

Noel will be eased into the NBA next season but could well put up some very good stats on a young Philly team. However the main thing will be him settling into the NBA and getting games under his belt.

Was really impressed with his footwork, confidence, effort, and obviously the D. I forgot how quick he is for a 7 footer. He is such a versatile defender because of that quickness and length. His steal and block numbers throughout his career should be great. Lower body strength will always be an issue for him but his physique is looking much improved and has filled out a bit. His interview after the game impressed me more than anything. For some reason I always thought he was immature but he sounded like a real pro and a player who wanted to be great. Stay healthy kid.

It may have been just 1 summer league game and you can’t make judgements on his career, but you can takes the flashes of great play and make an assessment of his potential. This kid was a major upside pick a year ago and appears to be better on offense than most expected for this early on, and his ability on D was never a question.

It’s too early to retire his number but it’s not too early to say that the outlook for his career changed today in a lot of fans minds- he’s just got to keep on working and improving with time.

Nerlens looked great today. He could possibly be in the ROY conversation with guys like Wiggins and Parker. Really like the potential and length the 76ers have with MCW,Noel, and Embiid. Wing scorer are easy to find, but they got lucky finding a 6’6 stat sheet stuffing PG, 7 PF with potential to lead league in blocks, and a Center who has the most potential since Greg Oden in 2007.

Yeah well what I was pleasantly surprised with was his ball handling and passing – he also had confidence in his shot taking 2 deep mid-range jumpers although he did brick them both… he seemed like a Power Forward to me and another pleasant surprise was his post moves. So yeah it’s just one game but he showed me a lot of signs pointing towards him being a stud. Also Victor Oladipo Had some consistency on that pull-up – I don’t think he missed one, his stepbacks are another story though :/

he covers so much of the floor if in better shape he could of had more steals.
hes weak we knew that but if that’s the only knock we can come up with that’s weak everybody is weak at one point nobody is born with hgh and whey bars pre loaded in their moms milk. if bigger he would have effeted the game EVEN MORE now that’s scary.

he plays scared jeff green played scared because of injury and heart problems look at him when he got over it .
    .
once noel feels comfortable and not fear getting injured an plays with no worries it will show even more.

Iarry sander admitted he didn’t lift weights at all in college a couple seasons ago he was almost cut from the bucks
noel is younger and has a chance to be even better then sanders once he gets it together. sanders is one of the best defenders in the league.

Really can’t wait to see him play a real game against my Celtics.  Love his upside, want to see how his scoring comes along.  Looking good so far, but remember there are very few legit 7 footers in Summer league and only a couple that are athletic like Noels.  He should dominate the Summer league, how he does against NBA size, strength and athletes will tell us just how good he’ll be.

I don’t know how many years it will take before people stop making any conclusions based on summer league games. It is so far from anything resembling what real games look like, we tend to look at good/bad performances like they matter…they don’t.

Opening summer league game in 2008 Michael Beasley greatly outplayed Derrick Rose. I’m sure some bad grand pronounciations were made after that game too.
