What are people expecting out of Noel in his "rookie season"?  I honestly don’t know what to expect, but I do know a core of MCW-Wiggins/Parker-Noel could be a craaazy core in the future.

I would say an 8/8 guy and maybe 1.5 blocks a game. For his rookie season.

I think that it will really depend on how many minutes he can play due to foul trouble. If he is able to play 30 minutes a night I would expect him to put up good rebounding and block numbers as a rookie. 10 boards and 2.5 blocks is reasonable.

Offensively I just don’t know what to expect at this point.

Nerlens Noel will have a lot of opportunities to play next year so I agree that he could average 10 rpg and 2+bpg. It will be interesting to see if all the work the Sixers staff put into rebuilding Noel’s jumpshot will pay off. Noel should easily average just 8-10 ppg just off of hustle so if he can hit some open jumpers he could be a difference maker quicker than expected. One thing that could also effect Noel’s season is who the 76ers end up with in the draft. If they end up taking two big men in the lottery then Noel’s impact could become more limited.

Big men take some time to grow, but a 7pts, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks would be a fine rookie year. He’s going to get in some foul trouble and he’ll get pushed around by bigger players, but I think he’ll be a beast in a few years. Offensively he’ll get some put backs and alleyoops, but he is obviously quite raw on that side of the ball so I don’t expect too much. I’m really excited about the future in Philly.

If healthy and without a lack of explosiveness or athletisism which he relies on for his game drastically I think he makes a Larry Sanders type impact immediatly. Difference is he is a less emotional person which will allow him to make better decisions going forward and be more coachable.

Brett Brown has spent the whole year reparing his shot. i’d love to see Nerlens flash some potential to stretch the floor and hit his free throws.

i have no doubt in my mind he will make a great defensive impact. he has all the tools and at UK he had a very high steals and block rate.

With a little work, I seriously think he has a chance to be our next Theo Ratliff – not too much of an O-game, but a great rebounder and overall defensive player, even in his rookie year.  Eventually,  I see him surpassing even Theo as a player,  especially if his jumpshot develops.  And you’re absolutely right:  a core of MCW, Wiggins (or Parker), and Noel would be crazy.  And if we’re careful in picking our second 1st round player with the Pelicans pick, someone like Hood, or Stauskas,  or Harris,  or TJ Warren,  then that would be absolutely insane.

I like Wiggins better, but I like Parker for the 76ers. I think he’ll score more from day 1 and that’ll make a big difference. I think relying too much on Wiggins right away is a problem for him, but Parker is ready for that weight.

Nerlens is going to be a starter for sure but still part of a rotation most likely. I expect him to get somewhere between 25-30 minutes. Defensively he was there coming out of highschool..this guys length and athleticism should parlay him into a double digit rebounder and top 5 shot blocker right out the gate in my opinion. Offensively I am with everyone else..somewhere between 6-9 points. Although with the way nerlens can run and how quick Brown likes to get up court..on top of some easy put backs he could easily be 10-11ppg without a doubt.

If Noel does come back sound as we all hope and has been working on his jump shot then his offence could be better than we expect and as mentioned above he’ll get some easy put backs and dunks. I’ll be interested to see how Philly use him next year – with Thad Young set at PF, he may have to play more at C competing with Henry Simms for good minutes.

I’d guess at this moment Philly would perhaps look to draft either Parker or Wiggins but if they got a shot at Embiid then they could slide Thad to SF if needed to fill the gap there.

I think that Noel and whoever they draft high this summer will see plenty of minutes next year as Sam Hinkie looks as if he will rebuild via the draft and Brett Brown seems prepared to let them learn on court. So even if they only win 25 to 30 games next season, the team can gel together and they have MCW, Noel, Young and a top 3 to 5 pick this year as the core and can add maybe the missing piece in the 2015 draft.

Don’t forget how few games the Thunder won in KD’s first two years, so teams can rebuild and gel whilst having heavy losing seasons.

Probably about the same as DeAndre Jordan in his first two seasons as a starter. Mid-high 20’s for minutes, 7-8 ppg, 7-8 rpg, 1.5-2 bpg while being a net negative on the court.

Yeah I was HUGE fan of him coming out. It doesn’t justify the fall but the work ethic questions were legit at that point.

In the pictures I’ve seen of Noel he looks straight up jacked haha. I want to see 10/10/2 bpg from him next year. He could get that based on just his raw athleticism; finishing pick and rolls, offensive boards, etc. Can’t wait to see him ball.

I still hope he can one day have the same impact as ibaka.

Phenomenal weak-side defender and can (som day in the future) make the open jumpshot

this coming season, 8/8 is not a bad rookie season for him, but he’s definitely gonna get more blocks that 1.5, 2+ would be the expected for me.

2 blocks is legitimately tough for a rookie. AD had 1.8 as a rook. Players in the NBA are much smarter about floaters, fakes, interior passes, and mid-air shifts. He’ll reach it in his "second year", probably.

8 ppg, 8 rpg, 1.5 bpg should be the expectation.

       yup.

even with players playing/being smarter, the Rookie has to adjust to the speed of the game. they need to adjust their timing due to players being quicker than ever.

If we end up with Parker/Wiggins and a Shooter like Lavine/Young on the wing, Noel’s rebounding could be better by default as they’ll be a lot of missed outside shots by young players including MCW and TWroten

If we end up with Embiid or Randle and become an interior team then Noel could be operating in a crowd paint sharing rebounds with another bigman, same thing could happen if the Team brings in a Free Agent like Greg Monroe, Noel would be fighting for space and his numbers would take a hit…

I can see 7.5ppg/7.5rpg/2.5apg/1.5bpg/1.5spg on 45% FG percentage with 65% FT percentage, he’ll probally play about 24-28 minutes per game and sit out at least 10 games due to minor injuries and rest

it might take a while to get up to the NBA game speed without giving away to many fouls, but when hes settled i could seem him going 8 and 9.5 with 1.5-1.8 bpg

Is it me or does the media make knee injuries more than what it is? They say it’s career threatening. They say it’s hard to recover from. They say that more than likely an athlete who suffered from such will never be back. Perhaps there is some truth to that but from what I see there seems to be some exceptions: Westbrook and Iman. You can even argue Rose from the start of the season he was still quick and explosive but he just got injured again. I believe in Noel’s ability to perserve and his work ethic so I think he’ll be back 100% and have a good year perhaps 10 10 and 2 blocks if he gets enough minutes which judging by the Sixers’ current roster; he will. I know he’s been working extra hard all year long; that head coach of theirs is a piece of work; I saw him working with Nerlens on his jumpshoot which, for me, is a rare sight for a head coach so kudos to him and the Sixers.
