I keep hearing really good things about this kid and saw these highlights and wow! He can be a top 10 prospect if he didnt even know how to make a layup, the best defensive big man I have seen in high school since greg oden.  Still raw offensively but what are your thoughts??

The next Marcus Camby/Tyson Chandler? Seems very raw offensively from other vids I’ve seen, and he’s very skinny right now. But a long athlete that can run the floor, block shots, alter many more and rebound effectively.

No joke… he reminds me a lot of Dwight Howard from high school, but he has such a skinny frame he might not be able to add that much weight

I saw him play on ESPNU the other day. Great shot-blocker and can block shots with either hand. Offensively, he doesn’t force the issue, is a good passer from the high post, and has a decent faceup game. He’s a stringbean though. He’s very intriguing, and has a lot of potential

I didnt see Camby on the High School level, but he does remind me of Camby and Tyson Chandler. Another guy by the name of Casey Sanders comes to mind. Casey was one of the best shot blockers in the history of High School Basketball. He went to duke and it looked like he never played ball before. But before his entry to college Casey was a defensive nightmare- offensively raw, but a terror on D and Noel appears to be a nightmare on D as well.

I don’t know why everyone thinks that being skinny as a sophomore in high school is such a terrible thing.  If you are an athlete and do a lot of exercise at that age its very hard to put on weight at that age.  Gotta give the body a chance to grow, he will put on weight later, he has a long time till he gets to the NBA.

Absolutely he has at least 3 years to fill out his frame and I’m sure he will put on at least 25-30 lbs over that span. However being 6-11 and 201 lbs is incredibly skinny regardless of what age you are and even being in the 230-235 lb range would make him thin by NBA center standards. As of now when evaluating his future as an NBA prospect his slight frame is a weakness albeit one he can certainly work on.

I’m not saying being skinny is a bad thing, it just looks like with his narrow frame, he might not be able to put on that much weight at all- kinda like John Henson and Anthony Randolph.

I saw only one game of his on ESPNU, but I loved how disciplined he was on defense he didn’t fall for the pump fake, had perfect timing on blocks, and effected every shot.  His passing stood out to me to and that is a very valuable skill that will get even more valuable as his all around offensive game increases.

How do yall like him compared to Julius Randle and Jabari Parker?  I’ve never seen either of those two guys play, but have read how good they are

Big time prospect in my book. I don’t say this often, but alot about this guy says me he’s gonna become a great NBA player one day.

    ^

Dwight was 240 lbs when he was drafted as as 18 year old. Noel, while a year younger, is the same height and is 39 lbs lighter. That is a big difference. Also Dwight has very wide shoulders and a big frame which indicated that he would be able to put on weight with relative ease, Noel does not seem to have that kind of frame.
