SnowtaParticipantIt’s been reported that Bjelica and the Wolves are nearing a deal that would bring him over. Obviously the idea of bringing over the Euroleague MVP is pretty intriguing, but not following European basketball that closely I admittedly don’t know much about him. I got a couple questions for the European basketball experts on here or anyone that has seen him play more than myself…
First, how do people see his game translating to the NBA? Will he primarily play 4? Seems like he could be a perfect stretch/playmaking PF and it’s currently the most questionable/weakest position on the roster right now, so the idea of bringing in someone that’s a little older and really knows how to play could be great for this team. I really don’t know what the Wolves are going to do with the 4 spot this year. KG could be the opening night starter, but will be playing limited mins. Gorgui could play together with Towns, but I don’t really see them starting those two. Payne and Bennett are both question marks, but I’m assuming if Bjelica comes over one of them will be gone. I guess my final question is if people could see Bjelica as this teams starting PF by the end of the year? The idea of a starting frontcourt of Bjelica and Towns is very interesting to me. What do people think?

European BasketballerParticipantOf course he would be starting power forward. Are you freaking serious? Do you think any of those players would stand a chance in hell at being Euroleague MVP? Garnett could not even log minutes in a good Euroleague team.
Anyway, he is not a stretch four. He can knock down 3 pointers and has that range but no way is he a stretch four. NBA needs to get off that nonsense with all their hype and stupid media marketing. He is nothing resembling a stretch four. He’s a ball handling face up four.

SnowtaParticipantHmm, am I serious… Yes, that’s why I asked. I admitted I haven’t seen him play, so am I just supposed to assume that since he’s a good player in the Euroleague he will be a good player in the NBA? Again, don’t watch Euro bball, but tough for me to assume that when I see guys like Goudelock, Sasha Kaun, and Jan Vesely putting up good numbers when they couldn’t crack rotations in the NBA. Ball handling face up 4 though you say? Cool, so he’ll be a perfect stretch/playmaking 4. Thanks Euroballer!!

Bed HeadParticipantMuch more of a playmaker type. The constant comparison you hear is Toni Kukoc. And like Kukoc, he’d probably be most effective as the 6th man on a contender (for a couple reasons).

Oh, and "European Basketballer" … you’re a real creepy kid, you know that? There are so few of us here who have actually seen a Euroleague game (even on TV). And yet instead of using your "insight" to be helpful, you waste everyone’s time (including your own) trolling. Either by wildly overstating the NBA potential of fringe prospects, or ranting about (imaginary) anti-Greek "racists".

EndlessknightParticipantKukoc was pure PG, that’s where the nicknames like "The Waiter" and "Euro-Magic" that basketball reference cites come from. He always played the point in Euro but when he came to the NBA there was no way the Bulls where going to play a nearly 6’11" guy who played little D at the point. They had Pippen at the 3 and Grant/Rodman at the 4 so Kukoc was forced to 6 man role.

froggyParticipantHe really is an all around player but no A+ qualities. he’s a good shooter and has NBA 3pt range but he can also drive and like to play off the ball (always a + when your starting point guard is Rubio). He can also be a playmaker sometimes but nothing compared to Boris Diaw for example. He is very good in the open court where he can dish some assists.
He will definitely be used as a stretch 4, with good rebounding skills (does it remind you of someone ? 😉 ). I think he will be in trouble defending the 3 position in the NBA. I see him as a good sixth man in the league as he can do a little bit of everything. Can he start for Minny ? yes, but I’m not sure he ‘s a good fit with Towns, who is also a rebounder/shooter (he still has to develop a strong post game).

zolaParticipantI think Bjelica could be better than Mirotic. Mirotic is better shooter and probably little better back to the basket player, but Bjelica is more athletic, better rebounder, slasher, passer, defender, especially help defender, better in transition. Bjelica is great team oriented player who can do a lot of things on the court

kobyzParticipantBoris Diaw like, He fit really well between wiggins and towns at the four spot, he could very well help them on offense to get better shots, very active, creative and unselfish player, they could help hide him on defense a little…

OhCanada-ParticipantThey will likely trade him for prospects and or future assets. I believe he wants to play for a contender andbeing part of an organization committed to competing maybe a part of these negotiations.

BiggysmallsParticipantWhat kind of package could he bring back if he is dealt? Flip said he would’ve likely been a top 12 pick in this year’s draft…that may be a tad off given he’s 27 but that’s the kind of talent he has apparently.

European BasketballerParticipantIn this draft? Saunders is way off. He would be for sure #1 pick. Don’t know what the hell he is talking about. Towns would no way in hell be able to win a Euroleague MVP. He would be luck even to see any playing time at all in any big Euroleague team.
That is SCARY that people running NBA teams can be so ignorant and stupid.

BiggysmallsParticipantEh I’m not sure about that. Team’s draft on potential. Its why seniors never go at the top of the draft. I’m not disagreeing that Towns couldn’t win Euroleague MVP, but he’s like 8 years younger than Bjelica.
Question still stands…wat kind of trade package could he net? Is it worth trading him if he’s as good as EuroBaller says he is? I’ve heard the Wolves intend on keeping him.

HitsterParticipantBjelica can be a good asset for the T-Wolves playing at either 3 or 4 and his height gives them good options to go totally smallball if they so wanted.
I’d agree he’d be an excellent 6th man and gives them a ball carrying option if Rubio or LaVine aren’t on court. He has a fine pedigree in Europe and it’s good that he has finally got the chance to test himself against the very best in the NBA.

CoachWyersParticipantBjelica is a combo forward he can play the 3 and be a point forward or he can stretch the floor as a stretch 4. He is a very skilled player and passer that you can run your offense through and he can knock down shots. I think he is on the borderline of the rotation and would be battling for minutes off the bench with Budinger and Muhammed. As for the Wolves starting frontcourt I think they go with Towns and Dieng.

King CaluchaParticipantMirotic might be faster in a straight line, but Bjelica looks more agile and clever with the ball in his hands. He seems to be a better shooter (even off the dribble) and he doesn’t play back-to-basket as much as Mirotic did in Europe. I think Bjelica can play as 3 in the NBA.
