Well, for all you young NBADraft.net whippersnappers, the site has changed a lot in the past year-18 months. Not necessarily for the better, not necessarily for the worst. Probably for the more serious and more basketball-oriented, which isn't a bad thing by any means, although I kinda miss the occasional McDunkin-NoMoney-OrangeJuiceJones-IMayBeWrong-others Gif/meme battle. (See, a lot of you newbies probably don't even know who NoMoney and OJJ are, which is a shame!)
Needless to say, there have been some new posters that have stepped up and brought some real refreshing perspectives to the .net. And they deserve consideration for the NBADraft.net (unofficial) Hall of Fame. So now that the draft is over, and the game of basketball is reloading, I think it's time to revisit the .Net HOF:
Now, the HOF is unofficial, as I have mentioned, but there's some undeniable names who have already cemented themselves in the Hall of Fame:
I May Be Wrong
There are probably some other names who most would agree deserve a spot (JoeWolf, MagicKnick, LeroyJenkins, M-DYMES, NBANFLGuy, BothTeamsPlayedHard, 8thDeadlySin, llperez), but the fact of the matter is, there are some guys who have balled on this forum since the last consideration. Allow me to propose a few names:
Siggy- This guy has really come out of the woodwork. In a little over the year, he has amassed a ridiculous 6,000+ points and launched himself into the ranks of the all-time greats. He brings sound opinions to every discussion and he got 1st place (1st place!!) in his first-ever mock draft competition last year.
ItsDwightHoward- This guy has become a personal favorite of mine. He brings awesome basketball knowledge to the table. He's got a respectable 3,000+ on not that many posts. And he respects the proper usage of the English language as he is a great writer lol. Plus, the Dwight-Howard-on-the-Magic avatar is kind of hopelessly endearing.
Raef Lafrentz- This guy just makes me laugh. He's one-liners are great, his points-to-posts ratio is great, and his homage to a long-since-forgotten, but above-average lovable white big man is awesome. Smart dude, too.
Cynthia- First of all, the lady (assuming she IS a lady, though pardon me for having the tiniest hint of skepticism) broke the site gender barrier, and now she's become a knowledgeable, respected, gif-posting tour de force. And it looks like Derrick Favors jokes aren't McDunkin's only weakness any more, eh?
In other news, we need to make room in the Site Failures wing of the HOF as "aivsdirk" has amassed an unprecedented, MIND-NUMBING -1131 points in 13 hours of existence. Nothing like this has ever been seen on this site and probably will never be seen again. What is even more amazing is the fact that he seems to be very serious about his opinions.
Anyways, feel free to discuss some HOF-worthy posters. I thought it's be nice to have a shameless ego-boosting thread again as its been while. Sorry for not putting this in Off-topic, but let's be honest...the Off Topic board is never going to get a thread seen by anyone.
I have come to realize Siggy is a fountain of knowledge.
llperez brings the incredibly rare west coast bias to the board.
aivsdirk was on fire today...I thought it was impressive to be -100 in only one day but he somehow managed to get into the 4 digit negs in one day....He was convinced Dwight will just sign with the Clippers like they are the Yankees and the salary cap does not exist.
It's unbelievable... O_o
aivsdirk had over 600 negs in one day(still populating) ...
I'll be there soon haha
I always get left out of this stuff.. Meh, oh well..
"There are probably some other names who most would agree deserve a spot (JoeWolf, MagicKnick, LeroyJenkins, M-DYMES, NBANFLGuy, BothTeamsPlayedHard, 8thDeadlySin, llperez), but the fact of the matter is, there are some guys who have balled on this forum since the last consideration. Read closer, 8th Deadly, you pessimist lol
I did read it.. If my name isn't solidified by now, i have been left out.. Probably the most senior poster that still visits the forums.. Not as much as i once did but still here quite a bit..
C'est la vie..
I nominate JoeWolf1. He always does his research.
I mean, it's probably safe to say that he's already a Hall of Famer. I should've included him on the list of undoubtedly-ins
Yeah I second that. Research is always solid, plus the guy always presents go points well.
Plus Joe Wolf can still touch the rim at age 30. He is well respected on and off the court.
I don't see any of you nerds doing a sweet leg drop like me, or dance moves.
Much like Steve Kerr, I rode the greatness of a legend (McDunkin) and made myself seem much more important than I really am. I went to a strip club this weekend but they couldn't stroke my ego the way you do PG. (and the best part is I save $120 dollars)
But I think it's nice to reflect on the users who make this forum what it is today. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Scare Crow. Not saying I always agree with him but you can just feel how passionate he is whether it's our sixers, a trade, the Xbox 1 vs PS3, etc. dude is always going to explain himself lol
I may be sharpe - protege aside he's a pretty good poster who I tend to agree with generally.
FranFran - it seems like he can put any numbers he wants and we all have no problem with it. Maybe it's the commas instead of decimals lol
Hey, I'm like the official ego-stroker of this site. But yes, I'm glad you appreciate my efforts, IMBW lol
For the last couple of years I've done Fantasy Leagues with these guys. They know the sport. TOL and Taylor Condrin have made some of the best threads the sites seen. These guys have to at least be nominated.
Here's to the Posters that no one cares about but still post great content, and are a valuable mind to the site. We may go unappreciated at times, but as long as we are enjoying and valuably adding to the site's basketball talk that's all that matters!
TO THE *too many fitting basketball references here* OF NBADRAFT.NET
You know, GottaBeTheShoes really is another valid candidate who I almost included the first time. Good opinions, good points-to-posts ratio
Me? I used to be flyntflossybaby
That explains a lot.
The dislikes on that post make me sad, although Not unexpected. I'm probably too naive or too firm with my opinion at times. Thanks though.
I didn't think anyone could fall as low as European Baller.
Boy, I was proven wrong today..
I've got to be the only guy over 10,000 points not mentioned :(
I'm the &$#%#&@! so there's that
I wondered what that smell was.
I've been using this site for about 7 years now, and this is my third account. I've always found that the best basketball discussions on the net take place here, and a lot of it is because of the love most people here have for the game. If you go to other sites like realgm or espn you only find people who spew out monosyllabic answers or something about LeBron, but on nbadraft you usually get thorough responses and keen insight. While the individuals mentioned above are all good posters, I think it's a testament to the site in general.
While I don't like the point system because I feel it hinders people from saying what they want to at times (lets be honest, this site has the lowest amount of Heat hate on the net lol), I still feel like it gives people an idea of who knows what they're talking about, and who just wants to talk like the NBA is a game of 2k.
Gotta be worth somthing right?
Euro has to be one of my favorite noobs
is just so bias and passionate. Sakit sa ulo!
Its hard to keep Track some times. Many of us have changed names. (After a 3 year drunken rant. 1 month in rehab is the reason for my name change)
Sounds like a cool list.
I agree with just about everything siggy says. He's a newer face since i havent posted as much as i used to, but yeah. Very knowledgeable.
Thanks for the honor!
Here's my list of people I think should either be in or at least honorable mentions (that weren't mentioned in the original post):
• I May Be Sharpe
• Taylor Condrin
• Mr. 19134
It's about Darn Time''It's Dwight Howard'' get some respect....He's among the 10 most knowledgable posters on the Site and he does his research....
Here are a few guys you failed to mention ,but they create entertaining threads and seem to be passionate about the game....
Hey, thanks, I never thought I'd get a mention in one of these.
It's a bit hard for me to take part in discussions on the forum because most of them take place when it's deep night here in Russia.
To the top users here. Ya'll genius when it comes to basketball
Siggy should start his own basketball website
The guy that immediately sprang to mind was BothTeamsPlayedHard not least for his efforts in getting the mock draft off the ground.
If we are looking at it as almost a career thing maybe we say people have to have over 5000 points and have been a member for say 2 years on this site.
I hope daneboy never makes it...he straight up cyber bullied me since I was a rookie
JoeWolf1, llperez and TOL23 are all locks imo.
All right, things are shaping up:
I May Be Wrong
Should Be In:
Its Dwight Howard
TC_42 (Have you seen his points-to-posts ratio??)
Newer Guys (+Cynthia) Who Should Make It At the Rate They're Going:
Guys Who Could Slip in 40 Years Down the Road on an Off-Year Where the Committee Just Needs a Few Solid, if Unspectacular Users:
Oh shoot, I forgot Auber!!
Thanks for the mention guys, I haven't been on a lot the past couple months, but I'm honored to be mentioned in this thread.
Do those mentioned get highlight reels of their best posts too?
Quite the list. NBADraft.net has some nice depth when it comes to forum posters.
wat about ghettosermon?
Great points to posts ratio
Ha. I get no love.
We should really expand the hall of infamy. We've had just as many (to put it lightly) "Not-as-intelligent" posters as we do good ones.
EuropeanBaller, Aivsdirk, KerryKittles, Leon, and JulieCash come to mind, to name a few.
Hey, I considered you, I really did. You're one of the few users who still posts gifs lol
