Making a reserve's list with Monta Ellis in one of the guard positions! Monta Ellis is playing great, but he is playing in a conference loaded with guards. Add to the fact he is on a team that has a worse record than other guards having fantastic seasons, and he sadly may be left off of the team.
Hey dwilljazz8 you put Chris Bosh twice my man...
I dont feel like the Celtics should get 4 in the all-star game. Its rediculous. Celtics fans take your pick, you cannot say Rajon Rondo is as good as you claim he is if you think your roster has 3 other all-stars on it, If you do then you are just admitting that Rajon Rondo is not the same Caliber as players like Williams Paul and Rose. If one of those three point guards get three all-stars on their team then they are a easily the favorites to win the title.
So Celtics fans which is it, If Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Peirce are all-star calliber players still, then you might as well throw out any argument that Rondo is a top 10-15 player in this league.
This Celtics team is good, but not 4 all-stars team good. Its either Rondo is an elite player who's play is keeping the celtics declined stars to still be productive, or Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Peirce are still all-star caliber players and Rondo is benefiting by playing with good talent.
You cannot deny that a pass first point guard like Rondo benefits from having good players to pass to, but if you ask my opinion I say Rondo is what makes this team go, and the other three just arent the same players they used to. All 4 are putting up good numbers but if this was the West-Allstar game I think only Rondo and maybe Paul would deserve to make it.
I would love to get in on the debate, but the best way to deal with it here is by posting your reserves. It is difficult to say how many All-Stars a team deserves, but to me it plays out that way. To me, the circumstances of the way things have played out this year get the Celt's 4 All-Stars. Again, if it were the West, different story, but it is not and the most talented players in the East just so happen to be on about 4-5 teams. Do the Hawks deserve as many All-Stars as the Celtics or Heat? Should Boozer make it so the Bulls get their fair due? All this could be solved if you make your reserve prediction All-Star picks!
Sorry, my mistake. Did not realize I put Bosh twice. I was expecting that Carmelo would be one of the probable starters over Durant that's why he was there. But, yes if Durant is in fact a starter then yes I would put Beasley in his place. For Bosh's spot in the Wildcard, I will put KG. My apologies did not mean to put Bosh twice, I guess I just really got ahead of myself.
@Mikeyvthedon my bad bro, just wanted to chime in quick with the Ellis post I was busy at work earlier. But here's my reserves.

We got our first Bargnani vote! (Not trying to make fun, as I think you are a cool guy. But, yeah, Bargnani is so far away from being an All-Star in my eyes it is not funny. I live in Toronto, and I think this. Again, he has potential, but still, surprised, lol). Well, it is a pretty good turn out thus far. To Exek1, it is all good man, glad you voiced your opinion. Vote or Die! Well, not necessarily, but I appreciate people partaking.
yeah im not tottaly sure about barganni, but making this list you can see how huge a gap in talent there is from the west and east. Im not a big fan of andreaa, horford or felton, but in the east they are all all-star caliber guys and none of them would get a sniff in the west. I suppose josh smith could go there, but do the hawks really have 3 all-stars? I mean they should be dominating the league if they do.

As far as Boston i look at it this way. Who else is playing better at ray allen's position, KG, Paul P and Rondo. If you can find guys playing clearly better than all three while winning (since that seems to be a factor) then they shouldn't be on. As far as rondo, When KG was hurt before, Paul was playing bad and ray was playing bad a rondo still racks up assists. Its no longer a debate that he can rack up assist regardless who he has on his team. He racks up assists while playing with the second unit because he knows how to get the ball to players in the right spot and since he gets in the lane at will he draws defenders which gets someone wide open and he finds them
Back to Boston...what SG is playing better than Ray allen in the east?..Wade is playing great and winning I'd say you can pick Ray or Joe Johnson. Kg at PF who is playing better then him? You can say bosh and Boozer on offense but KG on defense. Paul P?..LEbron James then that's it. Rondo?..Drose scoring wise rondo everything else. I'm not saying they should get 4 I'm not saying they shouldn't but they have a very good case

I agree Rondo should be an allstar.
I don't think Ray Allen should be, there are guys putting up better numbers, who have larger roles on their team, and that have teams that are in playoff contention like Johnson, Felton, or even Jackson.
Paul Pierce and Garnett are close but Boozer, Granger, Bosh, and Smith are all above him in statistics and there teams are winning too.
So glad you read my post and contributed, should have known I can always count on you. Oh, wait, you didn't, well, that's surprising. Dude, list your reserves. It would just be the cool thing to do, that way we at least know your opinion as to who should be in the game. Thank you BTPH and too all the others, keep them coming.
Well, abstaining, or waiting til later is acceptable. These are just your opinion on who should get reserve spots, so feel free to guess. Just trying to see what the general consensus is on who people feel should be on the team. Do not be afraid to take a stand, because the odds are, none of us will be completely right in our predictions.

East...Starters...Rose, Wade, Lebron, Amare, Howard...reserves...Felton, Johnson, Granger, Garnett and Bosh...wildcards are Rondo, Josh Smith and Pierce...Noah was an all star before the injury...sad but The Heat, Celtics, Bulls, Knicks and Hawks have all the talent in the east...Magic and Pacers have the only other all stars...West ...Starters...Westbrook, Kobe, Durant, Dirk and Gasol...reserves...Paul, Manu, Melo, Duncan and Love...Williams and Aldridge are the wildcards...snubs Millsap, Jefferson, Ellis, Nash, Parker, Odom, Griffin and Beasley...Griffin will star in the rookie game and slam dunk contest, he will not make the all star team...Love is having too big a year to not get the coaches vote in...
Both Felton and Rondo on the team if that is what you are talking about. Scarecrow, if you could, write in the format I posted, because otherwise I do not really understand who you chose as All-Stars. This was a post meant to give people an ability to list who they would choose for All-Star reserves, not really as an a debate over who should make it over who. We can have that after the choices are all made, or once the voting ended. Reading, gentlemen. I know you are both rebels, but you can contribute and make a stand at the same time. Plus, you can than say how right you were if your predictions come true. Quincey, I know you love that :) (The smily face is meant as saying it is a joke)
Yao's replacement Gasol...West Reserves...Williams,Westbrook, Manu, Aldridge, Duncan...wildcards are Ellis, Love, Millsap, Jefferson, Nash, Kidd and Odom... East Reserves...Rondo, Johnson, Pierce, Bosh, Bogut...wildcards to grab last two spots are Boozer, Granger, Josh Smith, Garnett, Horford, Allen and Felton...Garnett may rest his body ditto for Allen and possibly even Bosh spice...
"does anyone think Bogut could sneak onto the east bench?
leading the league in blocks, top 5 in rebounds"
The elbow injury still lingers with his shooting touch. Clearly with the free throws, he is not the same guy. Even with his hooks and turn arounds near the hoop, he just doesn't seem the same. He is anchoring one of the best defensive teams in the league, and if he was his normal self he probably would be, but he is a notch below so far this year. As he and the rest of Milwaukee get healthy, they'll start winning those close games and he'll get up to that All-Star level.

Scarecrow, sorry to harp on you brother, but you see what Dwight did? Could you do it like that? It is kind of in the concept of being a poll of the posters of this board to see who we collectively would select to the All-Star game. We can leave the squabbling to other posts, but this is just kind of a research experiment. So, I have a format up at the top, or just look at what Dwight did, and write down your reserves. It sucks to leave certain people off of the team, but I will not judge. Thank you.
Man, I'm shaking my head a bit with the number of people putting Felton above Rondo in their reserves. Rondo isn't a wildcard anymore, he's a bona fide All-Star.
East Reserves
C - Horford
F - Garnett
F- Pierce
G - Johnson
G - Rondo
Wildcard - Allen or Josh Smith, little bit undecided.
Wildcard - Bosh
Snubbed - Felton and Allen/Smith
West Reserves
C - Gasol
F - Nowitzki
F - Griffin
G - Ginobili
G - Williams
Wildcard - Gay
Wildcard - Westbrook
Yao's replacement: Tim Duncan
Snubbed: Aldridge, Love, Tony Parker, Steve Nash.
Gay is a real wildcard, but if he keeps hitting game-winners like last night there's no reason he can't earn an All-Star berth. Really wanted to squeeze in Aldridge, but it was hard to justify with Clippers playing well of late and Blake's sheer popularity. Alridge, Love and Griffin are all interchangeable in my mind. So many snubs out West... it'd be harder in the East if Boozer was putting together enough games to have more of an impact, same can be said for Noah.
It still means you are an All-Star, it more just was meant to be a distinction of not having to worry about a players position when you marked them in said slot. I think a majority of people have listed Rondo as an All-Star, regardless of whether they put him at guard or in the wildcard. See, I find a snub to be when someone less deserving than someone else makes the team. This is usually due to the fact that many coaches vote for reserves based on the position they were marked on the ballot. So, if certain people do not make the team this year, it is too bad, but I am hoping there are not any all out snubs. It is a 12 person team and some good players are not going to make it, but I am sure everyone hopes that the most deserving people make it. Who is most deserving is truly in the eye of the beholder. For as many people that complain about All-Star starters, there are just as many who get even more outraged that certain players get left off as substitutes. Neither the fan voting or the coaches choosing reserves are fool proof.
Posters of NBADraft.net: Please vote on who you believe deserve to be reserves for the All-Star Game!
No, this is not a post about actual posters on this site! We have been going back and forth for days about who we feel deserves to be on the All-Star Team for each conference (Well, particularily the western conference). In a few weeks time, this will all be settled, as I still believe the NBA coaches in each conference choose the reserves (the 15 Eastern and 15 Western coaches vote on each conference, as opposed to the ASG coach choosing his reserves). So, all of us here has an opinion, lets have our own NBADraft.net poster vote on the All-Star game reserves.
We will assume the starters will be Rose, Wade, LeBron, Amare and Dwight for the East, and Paul, Kobe, Anthony (yeah, he will more than likely still play for the west even if traded I believe), Durant and Yao for the West. So, you can choose 7 reserves for the Eastern Conference and 8 reserves for the Western Conference (The 7, plus Yao's injury replacement). We will remove the obligatory position basis as voted by the NBA coaches (Such as C, PF, SF, SG, PG, we will just have a Center, two forwards and two guards, plus the wildcards). You can use your best judgement to fill the teams (You can put Tim Duncan/Pau Gasol at Center instead of Al Jefferson/Tyson Chandler). Everyone gets one vote, and we will add up the tallies on February 1 @ 4:00 (Just a random time, I will add up the votes, the actual reserves I believe are announced on February 3). It will not end the debate, but it will be cool to see if our picks line-up with the players actually picked. So, do not be afraid to enter and voice your picks.
