2015 NBA Trade Deadline- Winners & Losers:

    Winners:

Celtics- Getting a major scorer in Isaiah Thomas

You give up a pick in the high 20s and a glorified bench guy for a 20 ppg with an extremely reasonable, long term contract? I love this move by the Celtics. Also, I think he plays off the ball in the offense and could elevate Smart’s game by giving him a reliable offensive option. Smart can definitely guard shooting guards too. Thomas projects as a fantastic No. 2 scoring option for the Celtics. Now, let’s go get that No. 1 option!

Thunder- The whole bundle (Enes Kanter, DJ Augustin, Kyle Singler, Steve Novak)

Reggie Jackson wanted out and they got a lot for moving him. The Thunder didn’t need any help in the starting lineup, but they may have got it anyways. Kanter will start next to Ibaka while Steve Adams is out. He will probably move to a 6th man once Adams is back, but that frontcourt is much deeper now (Adams, Ibaka, McGary, Kanter). DJ Augustin is a great backup pg to have, especially come playoff time. Novak and Singler? Whatever, I guess they can shoot. No cares about them.

Bucks- Michael Carter-Williams, Miles Plumlee and Tyler Ennis

Jason Kidd coaching MCW is an ideal for the young Syracuse product. He got that triple double potential, just like Kidd. However, he’ll never be as good as Kidd. I’m definitely not saying that.

Kidd gets a true pg to run his promising young team. MCW, Parker and the Greek Freak is a very young and talented foundation to build around. Plumlee is a solid post player to replace Larry Sanders. Ennis is a solid prospect and could become a good back-up pg with Kidd coaching him.

I’m very interested to see what this team does with the new pieces and who they draw in the playoffs.

    Underrated Moves:

Houston- KJ McDaniels is a freak.

I love this kid. He’s having a quiet, but stellar rookie year. He’s a great athlete who can hit a three and play some solid defense (1.3 blocks per game). Also, McDaniels can run the floor and finish above the rim. Great move for the Rockets in terms of strengthening their bench and get a nice young player for them to develop into quite a back-up for Parsons and Harden. He’s raw and needs to develop more, but what a nice addition for not much of anything (Isaiah Canaan, 2nd round pick).

On a side note, I would love to see McDaniels in the dunk contest.

Portland- Can get Arron Afflalo get some respect?

The Trailblazers could be the 2nd best team in the West now. It was between them, the Grizzlies and Houston. I honestly think Afflalo pushes them over the edge. He can start or could be a fantastic 6th man. He’s a very good shooter and defender. He can play the 2 or 3 spots. Also, he’s an unselfish player with a high hoops IQ. Great move for a Portland team that’s already stacked.

    Losers:

    Piston- Reggie Jackson? Why?

There is no way he signs with the Pistons. He wants “to play basketball” and Brandon Jennings doesn’t like to share the basketball so good luck there. If the Nets didn’t exist, this would be the worst run team in the league. I’m already picturing Drummond demanding a trade during 2015-2016 season.

76ers- You have more picks than you have roster spots. Calm down.

Sam Hinkie makes Danny Angie look lazy. They better get very activate in the offseason. There is such thing as being “too young.”

    I’m just confused:

    The Suns- What just happened….

Ok, so I think I got this. They got rid of Isaiah Thomas, Goran Dragic, Zoran Dragic, Mile Plumlee and Tyler Ennis. That’s a lot of guards and I think they are still pretty good in the backcourt.
