So I listened to Bill Simmons podcast on trade value ( hate the man because he hates the Lakers, but he’s a great NBA mind) and I decided to work on my top 50 players for the offseason. I don’t have a set list right now, but I have some questions for you guys because you guys are smart and you can at least help me in a direction. Here are my top 10 questions:

    • Brook Lopez out the top 55? (It’s 50 plus 5-10 players who just missed it)
    • Paul Milsap top 50?
    • Joe Johnson top 30?
    • Ray Allen top 50?
    • Kevin Love top 25?
    • Deron Williams or Russell Westbrook?
    • Andrew Bogut: Where to rank him?
    • Anderson Verejao? Rank him…
    • Kobe in the top 3?
    • Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon? Is Gordon top 30? Griffin top 20?

I know you don’t care, but answering these questions would be cool for me, just to get some other opinions out there

Kobe will be out of the top 3 when the offseason comes. Ima a kobe fan but i can see kobe will be well worn down by the offseason.

Agree but I don’t know that 3rd guy. LeBron, Howard are my 1 and 2 but maybe Durant with a good postseason? Derrick Rose is in my top 5, maybe if he can shake up the East and jump up in there? I dunno.

So you’d rather have Ray Allen on your team then Joe Johnson?

Idk how you dont consider Eric Gordan in the top 30? Hes top ten in the league in scoring in only his 3rd season and plays great defense and is still on his rookie scale pay. If i were a team i wouldnt hesitate to have him on my team

Gordon is moving up my list to me. It’s tough because there’s alot of vets who still play well, there’s guys people prefer and many things like that.

Kobe should not be in the top 5 for trade value.  His massive contract plus his age are a factor.

simmons isn’t exclusively ranking players by talent, he’s also taking into consideration age, contract, and team needs … it’s the prelude to his annual trade value column … so when the question is asked, ray allen or joe johnson … he’s accounting for the 12 billion dollar contract joe johnson signed this offseason and asking would you rather have ray allen for a fraction of the cost? just clarifying

Kobe has a none trade clause and can anyone see him being moved on anyway?

Ray Allen fits his team’s need perhaps better than Joe Johnson could. I could agree that Joe is the better player now but at his peak Ray was well aheadet Joe is only 29/30 years old whilst Ray is now 35 years old. ( Ray is now only 5 three pointers behind Reggie Miller’s NBA record).
