trelos6ParticipantAaron Gordon does it again! 22pts, 7rbs, 4 ast, 3 blks and a steal. He shot the ball efficiently (for him), going 8-19, 3-5 from deep and making all 3 attempts at the line. Gordon is looking great so far, and showing that he’s worked hard to improve his game.
Russ Smith had a great game including the game winning shot. He was 9-12 for 20pts. He could be a spark plug for Memphis off the bench, giving that second unit a bit more scoring punch.
Frank Kaminsky slowed down a bit, shooting 4-11 for 11 pts, and 6 rbs. His teammate Troy Daniels however is coming up huge. hitting 4-6 from 3, his 16 pt, 14 rbs performance showed that he has more of an all round game rather than just a 3pt gunner. I can see Daniels getting some solid minutes in Charlotte’s rotation.
Did you say breakout? CJ Wilcox has had a broken out at just the right time. With DJ leaving, and rumours of Blake playing the 5, this would cause Pierce to play at the stretch 4, and open up depth issues at the 3. Wilcox responds with a 22pt perfomance, going 7-17 including 4-8 from deep.
Branden Dawson has also had a good game, going 14pts, 11rbs, 4 steals and a block.
As a Celtics fan, I’m mildly annoyed by Young and Hunter’s performances so far in Utah. It’s been Brick City! But lets face it, this game was about ONE man. Jahlil Okafor. his 13 pt, 9rb game was solid, but not spectacular.
Furkan Aldemir has also had a solid game, scoring 11pts and 14 rbs showing he might demand some playing time for his rebounding prowess.
Slo Mo, Kyle Anderson has put his hand up to help the Spurs backcourt with a 25pt 8rb performance. He is a good shooter (8-9 at the line, 1-1 from 3) and if he can reduce his turnovers (5 in this game), he could be a suitable backup to Parker.
Finally, Rondey Hood is showing he will play exetended minutes on the wing for the Jazz. He scored 18pts, 5 rbs, going 8-14 from the field.

BleedGreen808ParticipantI’m with you on Young and Hunter. They’ve been laying a brick house with all those missed 3s. I was really hoping Young would take the next step this year. He looks like he’s put on some size but he still struggles putting the ball on the floor(especially going right). Hunter has made some smart plays and I like what I see, but he has to get some shots to fall. He hasn’t had a single point in 2 games now.
I liked what Boston did to make up for their lack of size. Jordan Mickey and Jonathan Holmes were able to lessen Okafor’s impact by doubling and making things difficult for him. I really like Mickey’s defense and shot blocking. Once he gets stronger he’ll be able to hold his position down low better.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m not really sure hunter is a guy that will last in the NBA. People touted him as the best shooter in the draft but he’s actually more of a streaky, volume shooter than a knock down shooter imo. His percentages in college weren’t all that good. He has a very good feel for the game and is a creative passer but he’s extremely skinny and not the best athlete and I really don’t think he has the type of frame where he can add much weight. He is going to struggle to be able to create his own shot at this level imo. He sort of reminds me of Sasha vujacic.

omphalosParticipantMickey looks like a great pick-up for the Celtics.
Young has failed to make the leap, but he is the sort of player who looks better alongside other good players and does show decent passing instincts. Hopefully he can come into training camp with a better handle and more consistent shooting. His defensive lapses remain as well.

Jr. ROXASParticipantRondae Hollis-Jefferson is certainly not performing like he at least is worth the value of a Miles Plumlee. He looks lost out there. I still like the guy though and think Hollins could develop him.
On a side note, Brooklyn really screwed up in this trade. Nothing against RHJ but Plumlee is worth WAY more than that. He was a consistent double-double when Lopez was out and was one of the only players keeping the crowd excited at Brooklyn. Again, Billy King= Worst NBA GM.

TRC1991ParticipantJordan Mickey’s defense on Okafor was exceptional. But yeah Hunter is lost out and James Young can’t hit the broad side of a barn.
Boy is Terry Rozier fast! That guy can get going.
Hollis-Jefferson has no offense.
Mitch McGary looks good – athletic and trim, he lost some weight in the offseason.
