valentineBut when will Silver come out of the closet?
"NBA commissioner Adam Silver delivered a statement of support for Kennedy. “I wholeheartedly support Bill’s decision to live his life proudly and openly,” Silver told Yahoo Sports in a statement. “Throughout his 18-year career with the league, Bill has excelled as a referee because of his passion, dedication and courage. Those qualities will continue to serve him well both as a game official and as a positive influence for others. While our league has made great progress, our work continues to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity.”
Will Rondo go to jail for a hate crime?
"Kennedy’s announcement comes in the wake of the NBA’s suspension of Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo, who game officials, including Kennedy, heard unleash a disturbing torrent of anti-gay slurs following his ejection from a game on Dec. 3 in Mexico City. After Kennedy, 49, ejected Rondo with consecutive technical fouls in a Kings loss to the Boston Celtics, Rondo defied league protocol to immediately leave the court and began stalking Kennedy, who had retreated to a far sideline of the floor. In the game officials’ report used as part of the NBA’s investigation – which includes details provided to Yahoo Sports from National Basketball Referee’s Association general counsel Lee Seham – Kennedy and fellow referee Ben Taylor described Rondo’s post-ejection diatribe as including the statements: “You’re a mother——- faggot. … You’re a f—— faggot, Billy.”

losnopesosParticipantI was wondering what Rondo said, I saw a couple videos where the audio was sort of picked up, but I couldn’t discern what he said. Hate crime? I certainly hope not. What’s the solution to an overcrowded jail system? Throw somebody in jail for saying faggot? Every time, or only if you’re rich and on TV?
He needs to be publicly reprimanded, suspended for whatever the league sees fit and make him apologize man to man. IMO if Rondo knew he was gay and meant to insult him he should have a harsher sentence.

BleedGreen808ParticipantThat’s the weird thing about this, it seems like Rondo just called him in the heat of the moment without knowing that Kennedy was gay. Unfortunately this makes it look even worse for Rondo in that situation. I think it’s good for Kennedy to come out and openly admit who he is as a person.

Gold ChainI had a gay roommate/suitemate in college and we were friends. Then one day we had an argument and I called him "f*gg** azz", even though I didn’t even mean it in a homophobic way. It was just a word, and we tend to reach for words when we’re angry without even really meaning what the word means.
Anyway, our friendship was never the same after that.
Pretty sure I’ve stubbed my toe or jammed a finger and said "f*ck, n*gg*er!" before too, and I don’t consider myself to be racist much.

Gold ChainGay mafia from the "TransParent" tribe could destroy Rondo’s career if they wanted to.
Look for Rondo to pucker up big time in some public service messages or something.

Gold Chain2009: NBA Referee Bill Kennedy Fined for His Antics, Union Cries Foul
Rivers elaborated more on the situation by implying it was Kennedy who was goading him. "He stood there and stared me down and stared me down and goaded me until I turned around and said, ‘What?’ That’s when I got thrown out of the game.”

Any time Rivers gets thrown out of a game its too late. Perfect crying coach for the crying clips.

Gold ChainSometimes the people most likely to abuse authority come from "minority" "disempowered" demographics.
It sounds un-PC to say, but I’ve had a couple bosses who were lesbians and they were terrible. Anti-male agenda, power-crazed, you get the picture.
Then there are the cases of black employees who figure they can just coast and not get fired, because their boss will be afraid of being called racist, and the employee could just file a lawsuit declaring he was fired for racism.
Then there’s the fact that a lot of crooked cops happen to be black, even when the police brutality victim(s) are also black.
A couple months back, after watching a Kennedy reffed game, I came to the conclusion that the next Tim Donaghy crooked ref would probably come from an affirmative action type demographic, either a black ref, a gay ref, or a lesbian ref.
Kennedy might just feel untouchable as a black gay ref, and Silver likely being inclined to support the PC agenda might be loath to properly hold to account a crooked ref of a black and gay persuassion.
Just saying, we haven’t seen the last crooked ref, and the next ref to feel untouchable/teflon might just be the kind that can cry "racism!" or "sexism!" or "homophobic!" or some other "hate crime!".
