Maybe it’s just me, but so far this NBA season has been fairly "ho-hum", kinda boring.  Big storylines may be GSW, the Spurs, Kobe’s farewell, and the continued deployment of hack-a-Shaq.

GSW has been historic, and the Spurs are not far behind, but even when watching those teams, they are so superior to their rivals that the games are typically blowouts and boring to watch unless you are a fan of those teams.  Monday’s match up should be great.

No one player has emerged in a meaningful way this year (other than Draymond?), no rookies are blowing me away (KP is fun, but historically he’s just okay and really is getting the raves only because most fan’s expectations were low to begin with and he’s charming).

As a Laker lifer, watching Kobe’s farewell is a tortuous tour of ego and big losses.

I can’t stand watching poor players try to make free throws as a strategy to win.  To me, why not make small guards dunk from mid-key to earn their points?  These days, a dunk is just as "fundamental" as a free throw.  Why are these guys who are not paid a dime to free throws, made to play to their worst skill?  Please let’s get rid of the rule.

Late-breaking news – the Blatt firing is probably the biggest surprise so far — historic in the sense that no coach has ever been fired while leading his conference.

I give the first half a "C+".  Looking forward to the 2nd half.

What do you fellow posters think?

I think everyone is ready for a 7 game series between Warriors and Spurs. The reast of the season is just a formality at this point.

That would make for a brilliant fight. The Warriors just got Kerr back, so lets see whether he can keep them focused and playing on the high level they did at the beginning of the year. The Spurs are just the Spurs… they play, they pass, they win. Who would you see winning if you had to choose?

I pick the Spurs, although in two weeks time I might change my opinion (it’s that close imo).

For sure a tough choice, and even though the Warriors are the champs and playing at an all-time level and dang fun to watch, I just think the Spurs have the edge in coaching, experience, and overall depth.  They can play inside if they have to, not sure the Warriors can manufacture those kinds of points in a grinding seven-game series.  Spurs win Monday.  Spurs win title.

     Pretty solid sum up.

I for one, am happy that Golden State and San Antonio are bigger storylines than LeBron – at least before Blatt’s firing.

The Kobe farwewell tour blows my mind. I hear on the radio on TV shows, we want to see Kobe shoot. Give the ball to Kobe and let him keep shooting.

Like, haven’t we seen enough Kobe shots? Dude plays on National TV 20 times a season where we see him pump up 20ish shots a game. I for one don’t need to see Kobe ever take another shot again. I know exactly what it looks like, I’ve seen him make incredible shots and miss shots incredibly badly. Enough already.

the hack-a-guy rule is ridiculous but rather than taking it so seriously I’ve just decided to find it funny. It’s really much more enjoyable if you don’t get bothered by it. Its beyond pathetic that someone who is paid millions on millions of dollars can’t make half his free throws. They are wide open, uncontested 15-foot shots. Its unbelievable.
