NBA FUTURE POWER RANKINGS
If possible, can anyone post this article from ESPN insider on future power rankings?
Note that tax teams, like the Lakers, had a pared down Mini-MLE to offer at $3.09 million this offseason. L.A. still has $1.59 million to spend after using a portion to sign Jodie Meeks.
“After that, I just kept playing basketball and didn’t really stop playing,” Gibson continued. “I just kept playing in local tournaments. Like Thib told me, ‘Just keep playing. Don’t worry about it; just find a way to keep playing.’ And it’s been great.”
Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, the man who made the final decision to draft White, was fully aware of the unique issues and potential problems the Rockets would face when they selected White with the 16th overall pick in June. Houston was getting one of the most talented and versatile young players on the planet (Royce, as a freshman, led his college team in points, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals), but they were also getting a young man that would have to deal with a unique set of challenges throughout is career.
I’ll vehemently disagree with this characterization. If anything, the audacious courage White has exhibited as a young man publicly confronting a frightening situation should be applauded and viewed as a testament to his inner-fortitude. I think it speaks volumes about his character, and his ability to attack anxiety head-on bodes well for his future, both on and off the court.
Late Tuesday evening, Rockets GM Daryl Morey issued the following statement: “We are committed to Royce’s long term success and we will continue to support him now and going forward.”
The distinction with "Rondo is our leader," though, is that they are not only willing to listen to him, they are willing to accept that what he's saying is not some half-cocked guess. If Rondo pulls Garnett and Pierce aside and says "I see this. If you go here, you go there, and do these things, we're getting a basket," they nod and say OK rather than ask "are you sure?"546343
And hell, sometimes, when you have been "the man" your entire career, it is not a bad break every once in a while to let someone else handle the spotlight as you slip out the side door. It's nice to know that, as the last sands drip through the hourglass of your career, the team you are leaving is in good hands. ndhgd
Griffin went on to say that the existence of the rule is good in theory, but he doubts it will make a difference on the court: “It’s not going to win or lose games for anybody… But now you’re telling me if it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals and a guy has a chance to make a play he’s going to be like, ‘Well, do I want this $10,000 or do I want a championship?’hgekjhk
It’s a fair assessment. I think most fans, players, and coaches alike know that flopping is a problem, and doesn’t belong in the league. The trouble is, how do you fix it? Will a policy like this actually work? My main concern would be how it is enforced, since judging whether somebody is flopping is completely subjective. Granted, some, if not most, are pretty obvious, but what happens the first time someone gets suspended or fined heftily for a controversial flop?nb,mguk
“(The rotation is) probably eight to nine (players),” Casey said. “If (the rookies) are not in the rotation, they are going to get a lot of individual work. This year is about winning, getting the five, eight, nine guys on the court that are going to produce a win. We are not going to use games to develop guys like we did last year.”lkj;ljkl;jkl;jl;j
“Yeah, it’s very exciting,” Scola said. “I think he did a great job last year. We were struggling so when he came into the starting lineup, he gave us a spark. We started winning, we started playing well and we went all the way into the final week of the regular season to try and make the playoffs. We didn’t make it because of a bad stretch to end the final week of the regular season, but he had a great year in the final year of his contract and now he’s in Phoenix and I’m in Phoenix (laughs). It was a little bit of a coincidence, but I’m happy to be playing with him again.”
The Suns have a lot of new pieces and a lot of young, unproven talent. To make the playoffs they’re going to have to overachieve, in the view of most pundits. Whatever success they have this season, however, you can bet that Scola’s contributions will play a significant role.
Danny Granger Still Safe in Indiana
As the Indiana Pacers prepare for what should be their most successful season in years, there is one question that keeps popping up among those who take a long look at the team.
A solid deep threat in college, Ross has NBA three-point range and a smooth stroke with a high release. Casey had specifically requested that the Raptors add more shooters this summer. Unfortunately for Ross, Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo honored Casey’s request in spades. The Raptors added several players who can knock down threes including Kyle Lowry, John Lucas III and Landry Fields
