How do they figure out a players attributes on a game, especially rookies?

They probably have a scale. I feel you can't go over 82 overall for a rookie.

In NBA Live 2009 Derrick Rose had a 82 overall rating so yes I don't think that they should exceed a 82 overall rating for a rookie.

At least they have constant roster updates now to make up for any bad ratings to start the season

Well Stephen Curry was a great shooter in college, so they probably make him have good shooting attributes?

I don't see the issue here. It's not like they have never seen the rookies play before and don't know their strengths and weaknesses.
